After finishing a Colonization AAR in the OT-Forum, I'll continue it now in Stellaris. I mean - settling new planets and squashing aliens can't be much harder than settling in the new world and killing Indians. ;)

The game will be played with normal difficulty and the Leviathan expansion. Role playing will play a rather large part in this AAR - so don't always expect the most powerful choices.

And like the Colonization AAR I'll include those who volunteer (writing in this thread counts as volunteering. :p) to take valuable positions in the quest for glory and clean borders. So be prepared for epic space battles and petty discussion about liberalism.

List of Episodes:
Act 1: Prologue
Act 2: Paradoxot Claims Empty Space
Act 3: First Contacts with Shifty Aliens
Act 4: Sweet Revenge
Act 5: Age is no Jest
Act 6: Rebuilding and Dealing with Rebel Scum
Act 7: New Planets and Preparation for War
Act 8: Easy Prey
Act 9: Defend the Revolution
Act 10: Fight against the Pacifistic Aggression!
Act 11: New Research and Evil Colour Thiefs

Volunteers resp. those who have been volunteered:
Premu de Ruyter: President (Died from a heart attack on his own election party)
Walter Stuckenschmidt: Governor of Earth (killed by lack of Ordnung)
Celine Franconian: Scientist on PSN Platypus (killed by Space Amoebas)
Roy Health: Scientist (blew himself up while trying to remove a mountain)
Francois Yvanoff: Admiral (died riding on a nuke falling towards the ground)
Sizwe Barssom: Scientist (made a space trip without space suit)
Theodor N. Nine: Admiral (fired from a torpedo tube)
Tricia Taylor: Scientist (electrocuted herself to death)
John Teep: Governor of Kenjor Prime (defenestred by a mob)
Bob R. Obman: Scientist
Alison Pithorr: Admiral
Julia Loup: General and President
George Wixit: General

Waiting List:
Gedierond

Act 1: Prologue

After the Dutch Stadtholder sent out some troublesome citizens out to the new world in 1492, no one thought that these would change world history. But in the end these settlers became rich by tax evasion and did surprisingly well on the battlefield, even if they mostly quarrelled among themself. In the end they successfully declared independence from their Dutch oppressors and created the Republic of Paradoxot.

It didn't take long until Paradoxot grew more ambitious: After conquering the whole new world Paradoxian armies started to intervene also in Europe, often to bring freedom, no matter if the people liked it or not, or to simply remove any ugly borders which they despised.

More and more countries were annexed by Paradoxot. Finally in 2189 after the War against Australian Aggression, The War for the Liberation of Uganda and the War against Ulm for not Providing a Decent Casus Belli, Paradoxot has conquered the whole world.

While this pleased the Paradoxotians a lot as this meant an end to any ugly borders, it also meant that live grew boring without any wars.

So in 2199 Premu de Ruyter, who was directly related to the famed conquistador who originally sailed west and founded Paradoxot decided to do something. He run for the office as president with the promise to start a new wave of colonialism – but this time in space. He won the election with a large majority, and so he started his preparation for the next step for all human kind, with one aim: To end all ugly borders not only on earth, but also in space.

The Colonization AAR was great, so count me in for this one too. :)

It feels cold out here

:p

Act 2: Paradoxot Claims Empty Space

Premu studied the newest data about his fellow Paradoxians. While they were quite intelligent in theory, they often acted very strange and foolish. Still they overall liked to be around other people, as it's hard to discuss the correct meaning of liberalism alone.

They also didn't like to be bossed around by others. The only thing they could agree on was the need for clean and tidy borders, and approved to all measures which were necessary to achieve that goal.

Premu also had a look on the current situation on earth. The last wars did leave some scars behind which were not healed yet. So he had a discussion with his prime minister, Walter Stuckenschmidt.

“Mr. Stuckenschmidt, do you think we are now able to start colonizing space, even if we have still a lot of to do on earth?”

“I'm sure that will work, Mr. President. We need just to organize our space program properly, and everything will be fine. All you need is Ordnung!”

“But Mr. Stuckenschmidt – what is about our slums and war ruins which we still have not removed yet? Will the people not become restless if we start a massive space program, but ignore these more direct needs?”

“This will not be a problem. As the programs to resettle these regions need to be approved by at least 14 different offices, such activities will need to wait anyway. And no one would like that we rush such important decisions and violate the Nordrhein-Westfälische Kriegsschädenbehebungsverordnung!”

While Premu didn't have a clue about any of these decrees which Stuckenschmidt mentioned, he knew better that it was pointless to try to discuss such topics with his prime minister.

To start the colonization of space, it had to be explored properly. Premu sent out the PSN Platypus with the order to survey the solar system first, and the surrounding star systems after that. He hoped that the crew of Celine Franconian would be able to find resources, planets which could be settled, and perhaps even alien lifeforms!

It quickly became apparent that the humans didn't need to search for alien life – alien life found them instead. Some weird and dangerous looking space creatures passed the solar system. Premu was very worried about those and gave a team lead by the scientist Roy Health to find out more about these creatures.

Cool, I'm in.

This is so...so...BEAUTIFUL!!!

*sob*

Oh, yes. Let's find out who those darn aliens are.

A team lead by a scientist ??? Why didn't you send a general and a few platoons ? The scientists only come into play later, to analyse the dead bodies of the aliens and the rest of their ships

Is this "XCOM - The Strategy Game"? :D

Act 3: First Contacts with Shifty Aliens

After a detailed analysis, Health presented his results of his research about the new strange alien life forms to Premu.

“These new life forms which we have detected seems to be very aggressive and dangerous. They are huge, even bigger than our ships. The so called space amoebas should be avoided at all cost. Instead we should start to study them from far away to learn more. Sending in any ship close to those would probably lead to a very tough battle.”

Admiral Yvanoff, who was also present, seemed to be pleased about this news. “You mean we have finally a chance to fight, and this could even be a challenge? Mr. President, I beg you to increase our fleet, and we'll blow these puny space amoebas to hell!”

Premu was not happy about the idea to send earth's tiny space fleet against unknown dangers. “While increasing our fleet size is important, we must act with caution before enganging any hostiles. We don't know how much fire power we actually need.”

Admiral Yvanoff seemed no to bother too much about this, though. “Caution is my middle name, sir. So I'll send immediately the order to our fleet to kill any space amoeba once it is big enough. I trust you will provide us with the necessary ships in time!” Yvanoff rushed off before Premu could say anything else, so Premu decided to take care about other issues instead.

One remarkable discovery from the PSN Platypus was a earth like planet in the Alpha Centauri system. This was the chance to actual expand to other planets! So Premu ordered to fill a ship with the bravest pioneers which could be found (which happened to be also the most foolish ones) to start to Alpha Centauri and create the first human colony in space.

It was not the only discovery. Soon, some space pirates appeared which loved to attack lonely space stations. Fortunately Admiral Yvanoff was happy enough to get a chance to fight some battles.

The next great surprise was to find actual intelligent life. Unfortunately, the Kenjodans were not actual friendly. Soon they decided to declare Paradoxot as their rival. As they were slightly weaker than Paradoxot, this was no immediate threat. But it meant that Paradoxot would need to prepare for potential conflicts.

Not only alive aliens were found – the Platypus also found traces of an ancient civilization which seemed to have vanished. Perhaps they would succeed in finding more traces in the future?

Unfortunately, the Platypus did also find a large swarm of space amoebas, and they came very close – too close to flee. The people of Paradoxot mourned their loss of the famed explorer Celine Franconian. It seemed that now Admiral Yvanoff had to do some "research".

Could I be a General, maybe?

Nooooooooooo! Franconian!!!

They will pay for this. Someday...in the distant future...I guess. :D

Count me in. Can't wait to teach alien scum the meaning of a galaxy without ugly borders and if possible without them.

You'd better reincarnate me. Or else...!
