Ireland 1711-1731
The war with France finished as expected. My colonial force occupied four islands in the Caribbean and then I stabhitted for Calais, Artois, and those plus Teno's port prov, and this was accepted. There was some more blood on the continent, but most of it belonged to Neustria. He won some early battles, and then with a superior leader I won some devestating ones, pushing into his reinforcement territory where many defenseless recruits perished.
Since I only took two provinces in Europe, I intended to come back for the rest in not too long a time, but first I was to do a lot of other things. Mats vassalized Delian, and somewhere along the way they made a deal, and attacked Hal together. Fearing that Hal would simply be vassalized in turn, I decided to try to grab some of the pie first, and DOW'd Hal. I was going to take Scane plus the two provs to the North, but then Hal got pretty dejected about the DOW even before I stated such demands, so I decided to only take the two north Scandi ones. It actually doesn't hurt him much, since it removes the Ingrian access point to his Swedish territory, and they are both the wrong religion.
A little before this, TC asked me if I'd like to join him in war against the Moors. I said I'd think about it, and a few years after the Hal war, decided I would go along with this. The Moors had vast territories in the east, in Japan, China and Malacca- many prize holdings which would handsomely improve our incomes. And to add to the practicality of the venture, they had hardly a warship fleet, making it a simple task for us, with our powerful colonial squadrons, to overrun them. I decided, however, that I would use the colonial warscore to leverage Gascogne, a cot that was gained for the Moors in a recent war in which Ireland and Bremen paid the price for the Moors gain. Besides being fitting, it was a way to improve naval support, which I must be always mindful toward.
But instead of demanding this cot, I changed my demands to a bunch of mostly useless provinces that Speedy had gained accidentally from China when their government collapsed. Once again, I felt sorry for a player who got dejected after a hopeless defeat, and ended up probably helping his country more than hurting it. By demanding a number of provs in Southern China, I lowered his badboy by almost ten points(from close to 50). There was some disagreement as the peace was being enacted about whether I included the southernmost provs or a gold mine on the northern part, and yes, they both were included, but once more in my sympathetic weakness, I assented to dropping the gold mine in my demand and instead taking 1000D. So I got 1000D, 1 gold mine, and seven or eight potentially problematic and only slightly profitable Chinese provs. Aren't I a nice guy? Speedy thought the Irish king was a jerk anyway, and probably passes the same message onto Aladar, so I should probably stick to the plan next time, but it's hard to be ruthless.
Somewhere along the line, I got to trade six, and then teched land like mad. I was behind most of the more important countries. The glaring exception was Neustria, which had remained at LT 28 for quite some time. He was teching trade like me, which was great except that his tech speed is lower, so it took him longer. But he also went for trade seven afterward, putting 15k into that before I finally DOW'd him. My LT by then was at 31, and quickly going up. Neustria had no chance, but in this war Pepsi has gotten excessively fatalistic and refused peace terms for two euro provs and one partly developed colony, despite being completely overrun. Bremen entered the war after a bit, and we've occupied 2/3 of Gaul, with no force standing between us and the rest. I'm not increasing my demands yet. This really only hurts Neustria. It makes it less likely that Neustria will be able to raise its land tech quickly in order to become competitive again.
