so it was weird session, englang backstabing everybody, if only there is some country figting some other country, it is 90% that you will be back stabbed, annoying spain helping eng in backstab gangs, i lost on all lines, Daniel, atleast, was kind to leave me alone after this gang on me, so KJ you'rs russia lost also, by this backstabs, ForzaA was doing what he could, but it was obvious that so much pressure was unbeatable, the same for me, eng did a lot damage to both of us.

a few "oddities" and notes (I'll write up a bigger report later- for KJ :))

1) Galizien defected in FEBRUARY, 1908, however, if I load the savegame from LAST session (XX-1908), it does NOT defect.
If I load the EDITED savegame, it defects in February. I believe that there should be some compensation for this if unintentional, and a BIG apology, and MAJOR compensation if intentional.

2) IIRC, I got one stabhit from Daniel that wasn't allowed (8 provinces asked, IIRC)

3) According to my screen, I had -94 against ENG when he started stabhitting (and continued); he did NOT occupy Belarus on my side of the game :(

In the grand scheme, it didn't matter much... but it's annoying to say the least.

HAL, please edit +1 stab for Russia. My first stab hit was for many more provinces than is allowed (I forgot it, just started getting him down to -3 stab, thoughtr he would reject soI just picked as many as I could withoiut thinking). Forzaa rejected this one of course but accepted the next for 5 provinces so he would no doubt have accepted the first one had it been an allowed one. Sorry about this. THings like this may happen when have been in the same war for how long was it? 20 years? Longest war in my career I think. Nice to end victorius! :)

Like we can see on your screen, in december english army was on ship, so belarus was taken minimum 45 day ago.

You can also see a RUSSIAN flag is flying over the province, and in the siege screen :p

but to be honest, I'm MOST worried about point #1.. something VERY odd went on there :confused:

I have free minutes now, so I will do P&P calculations, but about edits and rules I will write later. There is very very important popes visit in KL Auschwitz in 2h and I can't miss that event. See you.

Long wars can be fun indeed... Unfortunately it's very seldom that anyone will let you fight them "in peace" (though I'll have to admit I "threw the first stone")
..

+1 stab seems to be agreed upon; that English bug is really ultimately inconsequential. But what of Galizien defecting TOO EARLY ?

I read in the newspapers that there was some 900,000 people on a field outside Krakow where the pope held mass (or made a speech, not sure which). Were you there?

If true it must have been one of the largest gatherings ever of human beings.

I can think of a thing that would mean more to me than to see the Pope, but that might be as I am not christian, nor do I believe in God. :)
But indeed, seeing the pope with a million people would be cool.

But, I talked to Daniel last night and he thought that I hadnt made it clear enough that Im quitting this game, so I thought Id make a final post about it.

Im quitting.

The reason is that I wont be able to attend the coming sessions, due to various reasons, school is almost over and were going to some place overnight, and so on and so forth. The other reason is that since I started the game I have not been able to attend every sessions thus diplomacy has been hard for me, its not like Spain can survive without allies. If diplomacy was hard before, one can only imagine how it will be the coming sessions.

I hope that you have a good time and I hope you had fun with the Pope HAL. :)

Any word on this? ;)

According to the 1908 save (the one not edited) Galicien (owned by Russia) is controlled by rebs since January 1906. The province info is

province = {
id = 298
nationalism = { year = 1882 month = april day = 18 }
winter = yes
whiteman = yes
income = 13
control = { year = 1906 month = january day = 0 }
manpower = 15
tax = 13
}

According to what I know defection should occur 48 months later, that is January 1910. I guess you did not play that far and thus you wrote "it does NOT defect".

However, if we go into the edited save of 1908 this entry looks like this

province = {
id = 298
winter = yes
whiteman = yes
culture = "polish"
religion = catholic
tax = 13
manpower = 15
nationalism = { year = 1882 month = april day = 18 }
}

Note: the control-row has dissapeared. But it is still reb controlled according to the info in the save. Apparently this means that the province defects on the 1st of the next month - perhaps the game imagine that lacking this control-row it assumes the province defected in the year zero, i.e. 2000 years ago - yes I know the year zero does not exist but the program does not.

So how can this row just disappear?

I do not know what has happened or what the lacking "control"-row means.

The only rational explanation I can see is that Zeitgeist's program somehow edits away this kind of info. But why it should I cannot understand. The program should not concern itself with this province since John did not make any edit order for it.

Also note that the order of information for the province has changed, i.e. some of the rows that exists in both entries has swapped places. IMO this indicates that Zeit's program has something to do with this.

BTW, who benefitted from the defection? Austria?

--------

Further investigation shows that in the edited file all province entries appears to have the same order as given above. Thus it seems that Zeit's program sorts the different rows for each province. Could it be that it at the same time is sloppy and loses the control-row?

To compare I went into the 1809 save. There were 3 reb controlled provincs, 547 (Gujarat), 171 (Moquega in Inca land) and 816. In the end save they all had a control-row. When I then looked into the edited variant 171 and 816 had lost their control rows but not 547.

Now I give up. :confused:

Yeah, okay, sloppy on the exact details :)

I suspected it was some automated program (since everyone made the entries exactly the same) that was "careless" with some information...

BTW, who benefitted from the defection? Austria?
It defected to them, yes.

Ofcourse, I would also have won the war against China if I hadn't been distracted at that vital moment ;)

Yes there were 950 000 people on the Mass, but the field is not outside the city. It is just 2km from the Main Square. For more read here http://www.b16.pl/agenda/866,blonia_common.html

And it wasn't the largest gathering. The record 2 500 000 was set in 1997 when we met with John Paull II, also on Błonia Field.

But indeed, seeing the pope with a million people would be cool.

Much more important was to see the pope in Auschwitz-Birkenau KL. It was amazing when he was praying there and suddenly rainbow appeared on the sky. I am really shaken and deeply touched by those events.

I can't verify those revelations. It is possible and I even say very probable, but I need to check dozens of program entries to check that.

Thanks again for subbing, Forzaa :), and for catching that bug! Indeed, I demand all Austria's losses be editted back. This Galizien bug skewed the war, and distracted Forzaa from his fight, and it took away some badly needed MP and income.

Well, I am willing to accept 50 power points as an alternative compensation, and then Austria can keep Galizien... for now. :rolleyes:
