so i have 20 harpoons per ship and i have 2 Arleigh Burke class destroyer ships plus some p-8s plus a Virginia and just throw into 2 f-22s for air cover that a powerful task force.
That would be 20 Harpoons per *Burke*. As you can see in the new screenshots Ticos and probably the early Burkes carry the traditional 8.

Small point of order: when displaying 2400 time, one does not use the colon ":". Thus it is 1500 vice 15:00. Also "Zulu" is no longer used as it is considered politically incorrect (the Zulu peoples of Africa are being singled out);

That doesn't stop it from finishing off the phonetic alphabet which we use everyday. Never heard of singling out the African Zulu people :rofl:

Read em :p Maple Syrup will clearly be an unlockable. Hopefully you guy's didn't make the same mistake I did with my forum name, typing in MARCOM, right before we finally changed back to Royal Canadian Navy.

Finally, it returned to using a proper name! What brought about the change?

There has always been a movement to restore the name and it received a boost of publicity and attention during our 100th anniversary. A petition was made and members of parliament championed the cause before it got put on the back burner. However, when the majority conservative government was sworn in they decided to make the change. We are almost all very happy about it.

For competitive multiplayer, our thought is that the contestants will agree on the time compression factor beforehand. We'll see if it's possible to come up with some negotiation system for changing it mid-game, but most likely it will be either fast, brutal and frantic, or slow and... well, brutal and frantic :)

Hmm, that doesn't sound very flexible. Would it not be possible to set several speeds depending on the mutual combat situation?

For example one speed until mutual detection and then Another slower speed until weapon-fire is detected which slows it down further for example? This should mean the speed can change dynamically based on the situations need for reaction times without players having to worry about it and without spoiling any surprises.

Id suggest, as has already been by others:

Slowest requested speed. Maybe limited by a certain amount (kinda like other games give out a certain amount of puase time for each player).

The option would definitely add a finishing professional touch to the game and would appeal to hardcore strategists coming from worlds of Harpoon and others.

As an old Harpoon and Dangerous Waters player, I can tell you that NTDS symbology is a must in this kind of simulation, and certainly for most of my mates. Without this "option", you are going to lose the backbone of your future clientes. This, I can predict. In fact, as soon as I learn that you will not introduce this NATO symbology, I am now reconsidering seriously my decision to buy this game, that I had took some weeks ago.

Regards,

It's a feature I'd really love and would add to the immersion in my mind, I wonder if it's moddable.

Good point.

BTW: Quite a few of the journalists at Gamescom who saw the NWAC user interface compared it to Defcon, which is not bad at all.

Indeed. Defcon if an nice looking game, plus great fun. I just hope I won't suck as much at NW as I do at Defcon :)
