Hello,

I know this may have been suggested before, but I really want to see it implemented and if not I would like an explanation from a developer of why it will not be implemented. They have already added trolley-bus caternary so why not tram canternary.

Sorry if this post sounds a little annoyed.
Thank you in advance!
Great job so far developers.

Sincerely,

The decision was it makes it easier to distinguish between the trolley bus an tram. But honestly it's not a big deal you could probably just lay trolley bus wires above the tram tracks??

Now most new tram have no wires

But you can see a 3rd rail in the middle of the track.
here a web site that can tell you how it works

the site also tells you about city transport http://citytransport.info/

Thats directly dangerous to pedestrians! You have deadly amounts of electricity in the STREET for people to step on! I think that catenary is the most efficient way to go and will be so for a long time.

Indeed, tram catenary needs to be there, even if it's going to slow down our PCs - a solution to this can be an option to turn it off in the settings.

Yes, being able to toggle it is very good, both for aesthetic ond performance reasons.

No, it's not dangerous, because the 3rd rail (wich is not a good name for it, because technically it really isn't one) is only powered, when the tram is directly above it. This is the newest invention by Alstom (the french experts of transportation). However I have to agree on catenary being the most popular for quite some time in the future, because this new technology is 'a bit' expensive.
Here is a video which shows how it works.

I'm more than happy with trams not having catenaries. It makes them visually distinct from trolley buses (one has tracks, one has catenary).
How can you confuse a tram to the trolleybus?
This is a completely different kinds of transport. Besides, they will be allocated in the game a different color.

When you're zoomed out quite far, you can barely see any catenary, and even if you can, you can't see tram tracks on the streets. When you're planning the lines, it's better just to show their paths and clearly see what type of vehicle goes where.

Well, I never expected such fuss over a little aesthetic like tram caternary.
They should definitely be used to help illustrate more realism in the game :) I don't understand how a tram catenary and a trolley catenary can be confusing between the two? Trolley buses are by far more distinctive and bold.

Its easy to make out the different wires.

Tramwires have only one cable and you'll quite easily see the tracks under it.

Trolleywires are bigger and "messier". Also you won't have the tracks under it.

It would be cool, aesthetically, to have wire switches on trolleywire.

Then you are adding a limitation to the game just to be more realistic. Then you have another load of people complaining that in that very important road, just because he have a trolley line he cannot put a tram line. An unnecessary limitation, just to have aesthetic tram wires :S

Well realism is also a reason :) You don't usually put trolleybus wires on smaller streets where there are tram tracks, and vice versa.
Besides, do you want to see a tram with the pantograph sliding on the trolleybus wires?
