Hi there, don't know if anyone can help me with this.

I can login to my Paradox account absolutely fine on the website and launcher of CK3 but when attempting to login in game to access multiplayer, it doesn't work

Once pressing either the Paradox Account button or Host/Join game button under the Multiplayer section, It brings up the login window which seems to work fine. Once "logged" in, the green light will appear over the Paradox Account button for a split second whilst greying out the Multiplayer tab buttons. After this, the green light will go away from the Paradox Account button and I will automatically be signed out. It has been like this the launch.

If there is any additional information I can provide, please say.

Hope someone can help me.

I've had one case like this resolved this way:

In the Windows search box enter firewall. Click on “Allow an app through the firewall” . Scroll through the list there, you’ll probably see CK3 there already. Both the Private and Public boxes should be ticked; if either are not click on Change Settings up the top then check both boxes and Ok that change. Then scroll down further and check the same for Paradox Launcher and Steam.

I just tried this and its still not happy :/

We're working on this btw, just wanted to pop in and let you know! So far, according to our systems, the login should work fine but clearly that's not the case hence we're digging deeper. Can you please check the following:

1. Are you using a VPN? If so, please disable it and try again
2. Can you please sync your computers clock in Time and Date settings in Windows? It's a bit of a long shot but could actually solve it!

I am having this issue with and without a VPN. The problem seems to depend on my system, not my internet connection as I am able to log in on my laptop just fine.
My time is set via ntp and should be accurate

I can provide logs and even packet dumps if this helps (I'd prefer not to post them publicly)
Is there a way to increase the log level on CK3?

If you can log in okay you do not have the problem being discussed in this thread. If you have the wrong checksum in the MP lobby compared to your friend, one of you has a bad installation. DLCs have nothing to do with it. Current version and checksum is 1.02 713d , whoever does not that should do a Steam verify or a clean reinstall.

I managed to get it working by downloading the windows version from steam. It did not start with proton, but I ran ck3.exe with my system wine. Login works from there
We are mostly seeing this with the Windows version in fact. I assume you were on Linux?

Yes, I use Linux. Login works on both the Windows version running via wine on my Linux PC and natively on my Windows laptop. Just the native Linux version does not work.
I am not totally convinced that i am having the same issue as others. People reported that using a VPN and/or Accessing the internet via their phone as a viable workaround; both did not work for me. Might be two different problems with similar symptoms

We've had one report this helped this issue, please try it!

In the Windows search box enter Xbox and choose Xbox Networking under Settings. Wait until it has finished checking the network then hit “Fix it”.

I've just tried the hotspot from my phone and it has fixed the problem. I hope this is temporary though not got much data XD

Hello there, I have had the same problem and have been testing, completed everything said on this forum and nothing worked for me. I have found a solution that did work though. A VPN made it work. I downloaded a free VPN - ProtonVPN to test and when I lauched the game it said steam cloud sync could not work. Getting into the game I was able to login - through the VPN - and host a multiplayer game.

I then disabled the VPN and instead just disabled the steam cloud sync and it had the same effect.

The problem at least for me was steam cloud sync, try disabling that by right clicking on CK3 > Properties > Updates > the bottom of that page, and hosting a multiplayer game.

I haven't tested with anybody joining at this time.

After a test with a friend with the same problem, it was the VPN that made it work rather than the cloud sync, we both used the free version of ProtonVPN once and started up the game to login once. Then quit the game and disconnected the VPN and we both were permanently connected to the paradox servers. This was with and without could sync enabled.

I can confirm that this method worked for me too. First I used a VPN I get free with my Antivirus (Norton) and then I unticked the cloud sync from Steam and it's working.

Thanks @Ashlord666 for the fix, I tried everything else in this thread, shame your post was the last one haha

Another workaround that I found:
I removed my steam installation from rpmfusion and replaced it with a flathub package. Login works as intended now. Maybe this helps some linux users out there.

So my best guess is an issue with one of the packages that get installed by rpmfusion/are installed in fedora but get replaced in the flatpak context.

Hi there. I am having the same issue. I have tried syncing the clock and date time to windows and it has not solved the problem. I am not running a VPN either. I tried the suggestion of allowing apps through the firewall and no change either. Am hoping to play multiplayer with a friend tomorrow so would love to get this sorted!

I am sorry but yesterday's attempt to fix this issue in our servers failed. Work on the issue will resume tomorrow!

Sorry about that.
