Could you increase the cap of 20k pops who are forbidden from migrating away from a province? To something like 100k? States really can be emptied far to quickly.
Migration is already dramatically nerfed in this mod though? States with less than 500k pops experience less migration in this mod and economic migration has been reduced to 1/10th of vanilla's values. Are they getting emptied via migration targets due to turmoil? I'm not seeing any states getting emptied like this unless its via turmoil.

I havent used your mod yet. Just thought you might want a headsets up for a potential problem. But if you allready reduced migration to 1/10th then its not relevant.

Hello, I've found the 1.1.2 AI to be very passive at times but a work around that seems to work in respect of minors like the Italians and Ethiopians seems to be to increase their base bravery in the strategy files.

Code:
        # Ethiopian Thunderdome
        if = {
            limit = {
                has_journal_entry = je_age_of_princes
                scope:target_country = {
                    has_journal_entry = je_age_of_princes
                }
            }
            add = 15
        }

That gets Ethiopia to start forming in my test games but is a rather large increase from the vanilla 0.5 added Bravery.

Edit: I've been updating the Lotus mod for my own use so the 15 might be whats needed to get them to move under the lotus strat, vanilla might only need a smaller bravery buff.

Hmm, interesting, IIRC bravery values in vanilla are much lower and a value of 2 is supposed to make the AI consider themselves as having 2x their troops they actually have? So a value of 15 makes the AI think their troops are 15x larger than they should be?

Yes that is my understanding of it too. However I'm not sure it's being calculated right at the moment.

Classic example is Sardinia vs Lucca/Parma, whichever is the OPM in Emilia, Sardinia has twice their force limit but won't declare war even though in my own mod no nation outside of Italy will get involved in the slap fight. Change it to 10 and Sardinia will start a play against the weakest Italian Minor.

Similar things happen in Ethiopia which did not happen in 1.0.6 so I think it might not be working correctly atm. Lotus noticed a similar thing which is why they stopped updating their mod.

Great Powers don't seem to be passive at all, seems to be limited to lower ranks. Hence the Russian Pernambuco in my current test game

Do you see the AI going berserk with bravery set to 10? Declaring war on nations much larger than themselves that is? Ive seen a few sucidal war declarations even on default bravery values (e.g. greece vs ottomans)....

On further inspection

Not with the Ethiopian Minors since their bravery is tied to the journal.
I did have Sardinia day1 Austria because I forgot to tie their bravery to the unification journal, they managed to win though with France on side, which is semi-historical if a bit early.

I think as the bravery is tied to the journal and aimed only at other nations with the same journal lobsided war declarations arent a real problem. I still need to find a good number though, as Ethiopia is forming by 1840 in my tests. It's not an elegant solution but the passivity introduced in 1.1 isn't ideal either.

Edit to expand a little:

There doesn't seem to be a real rhyme or reason when it comes to bravery though. Some oddities such as; 5 Bravery for NET vs Indonesian minors leads to a berserk AI. 5 Bravery for the DEI against the same minors and it continues to be passive.

5 Bravery wont make the Italians fight, 15 will have them try to solo Austria, 12 gets them to eat one or two and then stop waring.

10 for the Ethiopians leads to 1840 unification, 5 they just stare at each other angrily.

Try cranking AI aggression up to 100 to remove the RNG chance of the AI deciding whether or not to start a diplo play and see if a lower number is enough to make the Ethiopians attack each other.

Uploaded 1.3a to try and fix border gore events triggering incorrectly and generating turmoil before the game could recalculate market access.
Playing as Germany. On this version, suddenly most my neighbours are Belligerant and want to conquer my states, including for example the UK with whom I have an alliance.

Yea, ive heard the same from someone else...the odd thing is that i cant see anything that would cause this as most of the aggression changes i made are for very specific scenarios like China trying to unify China, so it shouldnt affect contries like Belgium.

Do they have claims on any of your states by any chance?

Trying to get the AI to behave in this game is worse than herding cats....

Indeed Belgium is one of the few countries I have a normal relation with and is actually about to join my CU.

How do I check for claims on my states?

Just click on your states and see if they have any claims on them.

The AI is extremely aggressive. What happened? I had to disable the mod to have a normal game.
Ive been tweaking to get the AI to actually declare war when they are supposed to...I still couldnt get the AI in many situations to actually do that however, phillipines spent more than 20 years staring at maguinado on belligerent stance refusing to declare war for example. I can think of some tweaks I can do to ai strategy though that might reduce general aggression, im currently setting up my new PC but the new version should be out in a day or two.

Love this mod and don't like playing the game without it, so I'm hoping this can be fixed because I've noticed the same. Since 1.3, even on lowest AI aggression setting, 7-8 DPs begin on every new game with AI setting ridiculous war goals like US conquering half of Chile, and EIC conquering Jutland.

The only active claim belongs to the Netherlands over Luxemburg.

Other than that I see the "wants to conquer States owned by" me in every Belligerent state.

In my current game the Qing is conquering half of South America.

In my Brazil game, i ran for more than 50 years with those AI strategy settings and i never saw anything crazy like Qing conquering South America...very strange. The most I saw was Russia taking one state from Japan and Germany taking one state from Qing.

I will see if i can look into this more today.

In the meantime, you may wish to roll back to an older version.

I noticed that the Belligerent states have the Expand Core Territory strategy, which seems to be much more common. But it also seems to be miscallibrated, because, for example, Brazil has that strategy which means it should expand at the expense of its neighbors, but instead Brazil too wants to conquer my states in Germany.
