Economy patches and modding is cool, but I don't think that should have been the priority. The #1 CO should have focused on was assets and optimization. The average CS player is probably not even using mods. We want to just have a pretty city builder with cool assets. Release the content creator packs. I don't understand why that is taking so long. New content and assets every month would have made the problems people have with modding and economy go over smoother. We just want to create our own unique and cool cities. Currently, all of the cities look the same and it's very disappoint.
Yeah nah. A city simulator that doesn't simulate a city is of zero interest to me. I'm totally in CPP's camp on this: the game's biggest single problem is that nothing matters and the number one most annoying game mechanic is zoning. No number of assets can make up for broken fundamentals.

So, since we are getting reworked economy and new asset menu, why don't we just say that for a fact that you guys didn't add the elevated station for the subway, can you add it now? Because we have been waiting for a long time and we havent gotten it yet. Still suffering from the AIM we have been using since the release.

As a console player at this rate I tend to agree with you. Stop stringing us along with release date after release date that gets pushed back and back for console. Just bite the bullet and tell us it won’t be released for console.

This has been one of the worst game releases ever! Almost a year after the supposed release date and still not released for console! Guess CS 1 will be the best console players will ever get.
I can agree with you as a PC player, for me owning the game from the pre-orders, it feels cheated, while all of you are just working on the pc game, why not ask the console development team to just f*cking continue it, any problem with that? We all think that this was the worst method of releasing the game, not even just that, I also have to disagree here, the entire game on console for the first one wasn't even developed by colossal, rather a third party developed it and colossal just marketed it, does that mean this game will also be done as a third party dev development or are you guys gonna release it? Will the console get the same treatment as us PC users got? Delayed release of Paradox Mods, Delayed performance updates, why not do it in the first try before releasing the game entirely? One small disagreement here with colossal.

No. The game is/was broken, and the economy is/was in a horrible state, and desperately needed to be fixed. While assets are definitely a must, they don't serve any purpose but being pretty buildings if the game itself isn't fixed first and in a proper playable state with an economic system that actually works.

We don't just want "a city builder with cool assets". We want a "city builder that actually functions". Assets are important, but they can come after the game has at least had its initial "fix broken stuff" patch, and alongside the April patch, this patch will do that.

I 100% want assets, and I want them NOW!! :D - But let's fix the broken bits in the game first before we unleash all the pretties..... You need a good foundation to build a city upon, that should be the basic requirement.

Yes, all these things should have happened before release, bla, bla, bla..... but we are where we are now, and this is what we need right now. Assets will arrive after the summer holiday break, possibly as soon as September.

Considering it is nearing 6PM in Finland now.... I think we can safely assume the patch is not releasing today. Perhaps tomorrow. In the past, they have often released patches on Fridays..... so that may be an option too.

Not a huge deal for me, I would rather have them release thoroughly tested patches, than rushing them out on a set date..... because we all know what happened if we let them do that. ;)

don't they go on some summer holiday break for several weeks? which is why they aimed for a release prior to the end of the week so we aren't stuck with a broken game like we were during winter.

Sounds realistic... on the other side, july 19th is a friday - maybe it's simply a typo in the news regarding the aimed release? ;)
Just kidding (I know that they've vacation rules), I also think it'll be friday.

I personally doubt it will be on Friday. Friday is a Midsummer day which almost always in Finland means a day off for workers.

Oh... I don't know details about how they work there, I just read about the vacation rules. So, does it mean they always don't work on friday in summer? Or am I reading it wrong (I'm not a native english speaker)?

Midsummer in on a single day in June. In many regions that is the day the summer begins (according to calendar)

Ah, okay. Thank you :)
If it would be on every friday I would migrate to them - "friday" in german is "Freitag" and "Frei" is "free" like a day off work :D unfortunately it's a working day regardless of the name...

By now I'm speechless, absolutely disconcerted by the fact that they can't even respect the release times of a patch (which we don't know how beneficial it can be and which they said they put a lot of work into) which previously caused the slippage of CCP and DLC...

I don't know what to think anymore, really... Sad and pissed off at the same time

Actually Friday (Freitag) is named after Freia, the goddess of love and honor.
(or maybe even a bit more complicated https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freitag, but still named after a goddess)

What is "summer lock"?
In accordance with Swedish and Finnish vacation laws and union agreements, both Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order observe a general holiday period during the month of July and parts of August, where employees have the right to four consecutive weeks of vacation. This means that our staffing levels are reduced on both the development and publishing side. Therefore, we avoid scheduling any updates during this time period. As there is always a potential risk when patching a game, we always want to have the necessary personnel available in case any critical bug is introduced so we can fix it within a reasonable timeframe. Hence, we do not plan for patches or updates in the month of July or early August.

Upcoming Patches
The patch, scheduled for release soon, primarily focuses on the economy. However, there are some other requested improvements included such as an update to the building upgrade system. This means you will be able to place building upgrades more freely around the main buildings and also delete and move specific upgrades. We will provide detailed patch notes in connection to the patch as usual.

The next patch, expected after summer, will introduce some free content and other frequent requests, such as new service buildings and vehicles, as well as the addition of a surface tool to allow more freedom to paint the areas around buildings. We are also making progress with the technical difficulties that are blocking the release of the asset editor; we cannot confirm if it will be ready for the first patch after summer, so no promises just yet, but we are doing everything we can to make it so.
// The Cities Team

Hey @Cities: Skylines Official -- hope you have all enjoyed your holidays. I've certainly been enjoying the updated version of the game!

U.S. citizen here... wondering when the lock ends and when fixes for homelessness and crime bugs may be pending.
