About performance being bad at launch ...

Why didn't Paradox check the average specs of machine's used on Steam and develop on those specs ???

Look at this: https:// store [.] steampowered [.] com/hwsurvey/Steam-Hardware-Software-Survey-Welcome-to-Steam

ps.: My two cents ... I have been working as an IT Specialist for just 35 years, optimizing networks, servers, workstations, software etc. ...

The Steam Workshop was ok for me, but the passion for that place in this thread surprises me. I’ve never used the Paradox Mods platform so I’m holding back on comparing which is “better”.

But as someone playing it on PC Xbox Game Pass, it pleases me that I will have access to these mods and assets which would obviously be inaccessible for me if it had stayed at Steam Workshop.

Mods won't be available on on any form of XBOX, not even the windows version. It is exactly the same as being a console. You cannot mod a console. It would be vulnerable to a virus.

Only Windows PCs can have mods. No exceptions that I know of. Future support may have mods on MAC and Linux, whenever that happens.

To be honest, I find the current approach very questionable. Making such a huge decision without consulting the community could kill the game completely. The current reviews already say a lot. The game is still in the alpha/beta phase and we are the testers, unpaid... even paying for it.

I'm curious to see what the next decisions will be, for me the only thing that remains is that with so many bugs and performance problems as well as no Steam Workshop, I won't buy the game for now and I advise others not to.

MORE MODS FOR EVERYONE

We know you have been waiting, and now it's time to share the latest developments regarding modding in Cities: Skylines II.

First and foremost, our in-game editor is currently in its beta phase and will launch shortly after release. While we look forward to unleashing the power of creative modification to all of you, in preparation, we are collaborating with a talented group of creators working behind the scenes - ensuring you'll have amazing mods to dive into on the launch of the mods platform.

So it is in Beta? Not even polishing phase? Just beta?

So what does "shortly after release" means? Shortly after in comparison to CS1 release vs. CS2 release? Shortly as in few days? Few months? Few years?

Come on. There are some serious bugs in the game right now. Either fix them NOW or release the mod platform.

This now is bs...

What is even a "Polishing Phase"? What do you expect from a team of 20 people that are working to fix current issues? Stop working on bug fixing and work on releasing new features? Just get a refund if you are not happy and go back to cs1 - don't rant on an online forum.

After reading some comments and the announcement again I changed my mind.
1. Steam Workshop is free.
2. Steam Workshop has a large user base and this benefited CS1 greatly.
3. A new paradox platform will have 0 user base to start with.
4. A new paradox modding platform will benefit the console users.
So the clear solution is to add a new platform while keeping the Steam Workshop.
Correct me if I'm wrong, the announcement did not explicitly say anything about free.
In the release video for the game, the CEO explicitly says they wont charge for mods after the exact question was asked.

Release Candidate. When it is between Beta and Full release.
And as long as you're not a mod, you don't tell me what to do ever.
And I cannot refund it anymore and why should I. Because YOU say so?

Does anyone know if Paradox will be allowing people to manually "side-load" mods that weren't found on the Paradox website? There are other mod sites out there that have existed for a long time. I'd like to know if Paradox has commented on people using them.
Since you don't have attached Steam's Workshop module and mods must be located physically on your game env - the answer is simple.
Does modes for all include GeForce NOW?
"No" they said.

Yea, I hope so. But since most games are online, and this one has it's own launcher, what if they check to see if the number of mods, ver's, hash whatever you want, doesn't match up and they remove them?

Would there be outrage? 100%. Will it change anything? Debatable.

Much prefer Steam Workshop. Everything in 1 app and easy to find and use.

So they launch the game with none of the mods/tools we need, only include 18 Trees/Plants so they can release content pack after content pack $$$$$$
