Hi all,

so I bought hearts of iron recently and I really would like to play over the net, infortunatly each time I try to go to valkyrienet I have an error message stating that the connection is impossible. I looked through the forums to find an answer and the only hint I got was how to configure the firewall... but I have none.

when I look at the settings, the vnet server is europa.valkyrienet.com. is this correct? should I try to put the ip address instead? what is this address?

my config is:
HOI french version 1.04
athlon 1800
win 98SE
adsl 128k

HOI is in fact the only game I have problem to play with through the net so I don't think it comes from my computer...

I found a french forum about HOI and the conclusion is that vnet doesn't work at all... at least from France. I first tought it was a french version incompatibility but a french player with the US version couldn't get connected either. It's annoying because I was about to get refound from my french HOI copy to buy a UK or US version.

I somehow understood that it's difficult to set up a MP game anyway. So I go back to WarIII, less interesting than HOI but only fun and action.

You should check out the ICQ list posted here in this forum. It is very hard to get a decent MP game going on vnet anyway.
 
thanks for the advice. but when I bought the game I thought I the game was optimized for MP, alas french version doesn't seem to be compatible with other versions. you have to make some tricky manipulations to start a MP game with multiple versions. I surely don't want to bother people with that... maybe if I can get a uk copy I 'll try to join the community...
