Very nice! French Royal Blue looks so much better than grey Dauphine. ;)

When you annex Brittany that foothold in Wessex (it is them right?) might be quite handy.

That's the very thought I had when I saw that. It would be a crime not to exploit it.:)

The end of the Hundred Years War.

After months and months of preparation we had made our own declaration of war to take back Bourgogne from the oppressive Duke of Burgandy. We elected to invite our allies in Brittany to join us. They were more than keen and aided in the annihilation of Burgundian forces. Unfortunately little more than a year into the war we had an uprising in Guienne. It was, however, swiftly dealt with.

After almost 5 years of building a navy entirely comprised of Galleys nearly 60 strong we had the advantage at sea. We had crushed many of the English Fleets in their attempts to land our on soils. In the Autumn of 1435 shortly after our campaign to see off the intrusions at Bordeaux I stopped a lord giving an approval to some ridiculous terms which I shouldn't even go into here. So I shall not! Needless to say this had an adverse reaction on the well being of the land if a little more centralized.

Burgandy stood ready to accept our demands. We could have taken almost all of his land, however, we elected to take just our own back from the bastards. Also we decided to pocket half of their monthly income... but those are minor details.

We had 41,000 troops ready to set sail towards England to drive home our thoughts about their recent ambitions. The back-stabbing Scottish bastards had taken Wessex from our allies and were poised to defend it. 17,000 men soon made short work of them as we piled another 19,000 into the smaller already weakened Irish provinces. Wessex was back until home control and this is where the battle of Portsmouth took place.

FRA17.png

Jean du Orleans stood with his 17,000 angry horses and 17,000 almost as angry men waiting for the English. They attacked in two waves... the first 37,000 strong and the second 18,000. Butchered was too nice a term for what our men did to them. We had, however lost 7,000 of our unit and were at barely 60% strength.

Morale was increased by the news of Administrative reforms by Charles VII at the end of a harsh winter. More troops were poised to invade our allies land...

FRA18.png

With Ireland fallen to our control and the English army silenced we had encouraged a few more able bodies to assist in the general take-over of English lands.

With the battle won, what were our demands to be? Complete vassalization of such a tremendous power was a... delicious prospect. The catholic world would frown on us for seizing all of their property... but maybe a couple of counties were not out of the question.

Take one province just to keep a toe hold in England and then make them a vassal. Well done!

Hey Bug!
Great AAR. Wonderful presentation and very nice format. I am amazed at your aggressive nature in this campaign and look forward to your next moves. Very interesting!!:)

Oh invasion of Britain - fantastic:D What are your goals here?

Take one province just to keep a toe hold in England and then make them a vassal.

I was thinking about capturing both Lancashire and Cornwall as they would give me an excellent amount of national waters up the west coast of England and the East of Ireland. They're also the two most notabley wealthy provinces. This could be achieved with Vassalization thrown in also!

Thanks Fooki. I'm only retaliating, remember that the other two wars so far have been purely defencive! ^^

Indeed, definitely go for a vassalization. Also nice to see events help you centralize fast. The money will roll in between the two of those.

Brittany is no longer our equal.

After the reclamation of our glorious lands and the end of one of the greatest wars ever to have existed it was time to put Brittany in her place. She had refused our kind offer of vassalisation so we instead demanded it. We banned her from our alliance for her impertinence.

England finally settled down to an arrangement we found most agreeable. Complete vassalisation along with Cornwall and Lancashire. We also took 100 ducats to cover the expense of the most recent wars.

Our glorious nation! Vive la France!

The invasion of Brittany only took a few months to prepare for. It did, however, greatly affect our countries stability, adversely. We continued on with the battle regardless and let our army do the talking. We could concentrate on steadying our lands after this brief war.

We had considered a new tariff to rid ourselves of some bothersome additional competition but it proved to be not in our favour. We had grown weary of our merchants constant mewling and decided to go for the option that was more pro free trade than our regular ideas. We still had a long way to go on this front and this had cost us in our investments.

Charles VII had drawn up plans for a new military force to be in constant repair. This did a great deal in sorting out the morale of our troops and was equally helpful in that it provided a boost to our soldiers weaponry and armour. God save the king!

Barely 15 months after the invasion of Brittany the war was over and won. We asked for permanent military access, vassalisation and a small supply of ducats. Trés bon!

Fixing that god awful stability. Due to events i'm at +4 RR and 4.3/37 BB. I need my stability back at +3.

I promised another update within the next two hours so i'm going for that right now.

I'll see if any casus belli raise their heads. My leaders are brilliant at the moment and I should think to take advantage of them.

I want to raise infrastructure to the point that I can promote Mayors and Chief Judges. I shall also be looking into setting up some manufactories over the next few years to capitalise on the grapes in france. If an over abundance of coin comes my way then a few fine arts galleries too... but most likely only one or two before I start the mass upgrading of chief judges and mayors.
