reasons i am against byz is alexandria, it will be venetians playground for ages.
But OE wouldn't dick around in India as easily, italy isn't always as powerful in games as the OE is so I think it would balance things out. In any case it's worth a trial run in MP.

Will there be a BYZ or OE player? I personally would prefer OE to be played, since it'll be far more interested in the arabic area, while a BYZ doesn't have the culture for all that.

You mean you will feel bad when you beat up the BYZ player?:D

Maybe - but no having an OE does leave quite a large area vacant that would normally be under the rule of 1 empire. And it will probably make Russia very uber as Byz doesn't quite have an interest in the area as OE would.

if u guys introduced edits, as to claim cultures, convert religions and add cores, im sure byz would do just as fine

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but I may end up causing some connection problems during the game. My campus network routinely gets overloaded by people playing WOW in the evening, so it may happen that I get disconnected during the game. Hopefully that won't be the case, but I'm just offering this as a warning.

Well i sure wouldn't mind introducing something like this:

Culture claiming:
You can claim any culture in Europe by owning 30% of the total number of provinses or 10 provinses of the culture for 30 years.

Gaining of points
10 points for being on-time.
1 point for every year played/session.
6 points for every war won - thus you need to gain land, money, MA or vasselization from the other part to claim points.
2 points for major war ending in WP, if you had large loses of forces
2 points for every war lost - thus you need to lose land, money, MA or vasselization to the other part to claim points.
2 points for every CoT (at end of session).
10 points for every human vassal gained by force that session (at end of session).

Economic rewards
Lower badboy. 6p/1bb.
Raise manpower. 10p/.5mp. Only for provinces with <12mp (means mp 16 in save, which is 12,0 manpower at 200k+)
Raise tax. 5p/1bt. Only for provinces with <15bt.
Gain gold. 25/50/75/100d per 1p in 1400/1500/1600/1700+
Deflation. 12p/0.5%
Buy foreign core. 8p. Cores can be claimed anywhere in the world, but you must have knowledge of the provinse. How else would you know what to claim.
Buy home core. 4p (provinses must have been owned for 10+ years)
Convert province religion. 10p if state culture, 20p if other
Convert province culture. 20p if non-state culture, 15p if other state culture, 10p if colonial culture. (All go to primary culture)
Build manufactory. 30p + 1p/manufactory of the same kind already owned. Double cost if required Infra level is not researched.
Build shipyard/CC. 20p + 2p/every CC/shipyard already owned. Double cost if required land/naval level(s) is not researched.
Raise population. 1p/1000 if city >1000pop. 10p/1000 if 0<1000.

But still, why be BYZ and have to pay for it all if you get it for free as OE.

i agree with the point system aladar, and i point you as a expert in it to keep track of it.
althoug some edits should be made like with the CC and shipyards and manus, maybe set a date for them also
