Thanks for the game Tai, it was well GMd, although the lack of RP for some of the deadlines was a bit sad considering the high quality of those you did do, you're busy busy.

For everyone else, enjoyable game. The numerous no-votes were driving me up the wall because it made narrowing suspect lists extremely hard, but for the most part we had a village that followed good strategy and led us to victory. Plus, you wolves really painted the walls with each other's blood, which I think would have worked to confuse a village if only you'd got the seer at some point. You guys also had bad luck in not getting any JL members until late in the piece, although I did try to avoid scanning likely victims like Boris. Once Snoopdogg was scanned and Kingepyon hunted, I worked out that if I wasn't hunted this past deadline, and Snoopdogg was lynched, the last wolf couldn't win as long as the JL went public.

I should thank my JL too, they were all highly cooperative and helpful.

I was disapointed with missing that one as well, but I didn't have much of a choice. I was going to go back and finish it... but... oh well, it'll be fine.

Game over. Esemesas, you're a wolf.

So it's you, then.

My guesses about the JL yesterday were that reis was in it, and that the_hdk was in it. With the latter being the more likely person of the two.
Neither of them could however be the seer. the_hdk because king didn't object to the_hdk being run up at all when I was still in contact with him, and reis because of the day 1 PM shenanigans which cleared him of both wolfhood and seerhood.

I had no idea who the seer was though. You were pretty damn quiet this game, and you'd been ringing my "something odd" dar for that reason, but I couldn't be sure which of the two it was. You weren't part of the small group of obviously coöperating goodies, so there was no hint as to where the Seer might be hiding.

Good job at any rate :)

Anyway - was rendap scanned? I thought he was after the way he got lynched. And that's why I contacted King in the first place. I considered contacting snoop too, but King was the way more obvious goodie there ..

No point in trying to object now. Even if snoop hadn't changed my hunt orders, I would have never thought Vain to be the seer, good job there!

However, reis would never have survived had I been sending in the hunt orders :)

And I apologize to Rendap. If you thought that was a sellout, it wasn't. I had just subbed in and mixed up my pack, so after I realized it was too late to switch to King, as that would have compromised us both.

I should have been more active, I really should, but after subbing in I just didn't feel any drive to play.

Congrats, goodies, even if the JL did most of the work.

Well, the_hdk just begged for a hunt after his "just trust me" comment, so I don't think snoop changed the hunt order for bad reasons at all.
Besides, as I said above, you could have guessed that reis wasn't the seer from the day 1 PM's.

Oh, and a bit more PM conversation with reis fun ;-)

Hey, long time without PM'ing you. Too long. Let's fix that.

So, Mr. Not-Seer, how are you doing? Would you mind picking out a wolf as a scan for tomorrow? Yakman v2 might be a good idea, or maybe Snoopdogg. Just tell your Seer to have him scanned, I'm sure you will be able to convince him to comply, despite the fact that you are not scanned, which is the purest of the truths. You see, if you don't get the Seer to ping a wolf, my bum's on the line, and I would not be keen on dying for no purpose. Or you might just scan me, if you still don't believe my good intentions.

I have no idea who has been scanned so far (apart from King, and possibly Rendap) so me picking a scan target doesn't seem like a very productive thing to do.
And with King dead I no longer even have any JL contacts to pass that on to in the first place ..

I'll commend you on a magnificent performance so far Randy, and you do deserve to win, in spite of having luck that I am not a wolf. And it looks like I'll finally get to win a game, if things go well enough, in spite of not having done much to deserve it so far. Hopefully, my scan recommendation might make it more deserved.

You've done your best to look rather innocent so far, and you've been reasonably coherent and logical as well. If you're a wolf you've done stellar looking good, I think, and if you're a villager, you have done a decent enough job as well.
Despite voting for the wrong people :p

Cmon, at least acknowledge you grasped the delicious irony in the first quote.

As for not having JL contacts, that sucks, I hoped you woke up before deadline, to have new scan orders sent, but I'm quite sure you will be able to, let's say, get in contact with the Seer again, and do another soft-outing, at least. Or maybe just let the village analyze, there's plenty of information now with two wolves dead.

As for voting for the wrong people, well, I did strike gold this time with Seen and Kingepyon.

Yes. The irony here is that you again seem to think I'm the Seer, when I'm not. Oh well ;-)

I'm not sure if we can count on the JL to be active much. There's much in this game that I don't quite understand though. Who knows, maybe the push on Yakman is because the JL wants to run up a scanned wolf with telling me .. *shrug*

Just a heads up - I think I actually support the case against snoop now, so you may want to change back.

I guess *someone* followed my indications about Snoopdogg after all, despite your supposed JL link having died. Good. I will change back later in the night, just to see if the other wolf bites. You might want to point a scan at that esemesas chap. Good odds. I mean, have *someone* pointing a scan at him. Wouldn't want to imply anything...

We do need to ensure that Snoop's pack cannot tie anyone with him.

PS : It will be fun when this game ends. It looks like I haven't lost my touch after all. And neither have you.

I read this yesterday before the deadline, and then considered writing back to him that I would really laugh very hard if he turned out to be the Seer.
But then I thought back on day 1, and went .. naah. :p

Furthermore, I believe some of Kingepyon's correspondence with Randakar is in my PM archives, since he was my first scan. Second was Johho888, third was reis91, fourth the_hdk, fifth was Snoopdogg, sixth was Esemesas.

So, rendap *wasn't* scanned then. My guess that rendap had been soft-outed by King was based on thin air.
Right conclusion, wrong assumptions. Gotta laugh about that one :)

entertaining game.

Yeah, I had nothing to do with Rendap's death at all. Snoopdogg started on him, I don't know why, and then King followed, don't know why, and then you Randy, don't know why, and as Ese has explained he'd just subbed in and goofed. It was a good alibi though... Snoopdogg might enlighten us, but it looks like an alibi gone wrong, with Esemesas's mistake sealing Rendap's fate.

I'm surprised I won this game to be honest... I've never been a priest or seer before, only a spy and cultist, short lived both times. I've never particularly desired to be an important scanner, perhaps as I didn't want to have the village dependent on me not making a mess of it. When I had four villagers scanned into the JL and no wolves located, but one dead without my contribution at all, I was starting to feel like I was letting my side down. I was also surprised that I wasn't transparent as a seer, so hearing I tripped some alarms for you doesn't surprise me, Randy. Walking the tightrope between being obviously reticent or disingenuous, and being verbose or too knowledgeable, isn't easy.

The Seen-Falc outing was to serve a few purposes; protect JL members, divert attention, and to test your loyalty Randy... I was hoping you'd get hunted and thereby answer our questions as to your role; better you hunted than a JL member or my scan target: as Reis put it, a living goodie is nearly as useful as a wolf. Falc I included as a smokescreen; despite being wrong about Yakman I still thought that Falc being a wolf was unlikely. Then I decided, it being the penultimate day, that if I blew the village on a belief that Falc wasn't a wolf I'd be a real ass, so I tied him up there.

I wanted the_hdk or Reis to tell you to out Snoopdogg, but in the event they felt it better to do things softly, which turned out great.

@ the_hdk

I feel for you. I had the same thing happen in a Lite where I was in the JL for several days and contributed to the victory, but got hunted last. It really stung to put in the effort and not get the win.

With the last werewolf vanquished, the villagers are victorious!

Or are they...?

The "winners" are;

reis91 as "King of Spades", the incurable gambler.
randakar as Rand, the promising scribe's apprentice.
Teep as Thomas of Bicester, a travelling merchant from Oxfordshire.
Vainglory as Pelinal Whitestrake, a retired crusader, as the Retired Monster Hunter.

Another day dawned over the forest, and for the fourth day in a row the villagers rose early to gather in the village square, and decide the fate of their peers. Despite the recent successes, there was a suffocating air of depression; too many of their fellows had died in the attacks, it felt. Many were wondering whether Eldersbry would ever recover from this.

A few half-hearted arguments sprang up, however, and they grew, as they had every day, into long-winded accusations, though they lacked the heat that they had had before. Soon, suspicion was resting on the shoulders of two men; Snoopy, the owner of the village vineyard, and Thomas of Bicester, a merchant from Oxfordshire who had had the unfortunate luck to be in the village at the beginning of the disaster. Both parties fervently denied the accusations, and at last it was decided that Thomas could not be a wolf, he was too new an arrival in the village, and turned their full attention to Snoopy, rushing forwards to drag him to the gibbet. Snoopy went to his fate with glum acceptance, his eyes bloodshot with the affects of drink… that is, until they reached the gibbet itself. With surprising strength, Snoopy ripped free of the arms of the villagers, and reached out with one hand to grab the forearm of Job, the village drunk. Job looked into his eyes blearily, a grimace spreading across his mouth. With a nod, he ripped his arm free and backed away.

“My good people of Eldersbry!” cried Snoopy, “please, listen to me!”

With a roar, the villagers grabbed at him, and with a snarl of frustration, Snoopy flung out a hand… and clawed the first villager to reach him across the face, as he began his transformation. It was far too late, however, and he went down in a flurry of pitchforks, clubs and torches. In the end, what lay on the ground was a mangy half-thing, part wolf and part man, covered in blood and wounds.

It was then that they heard another snarl, and before anyone could react, Earl Robert, a nobleman who had always hung back from the rest and remained aloof from the lynchings, was down in a flurry of fangs and fur, buried beneath the murderous weight of Job, the village drunk, his eyes bright red and glowing with lust for blood and revenge. Having completed its savaging of the poor Earl, the wolf danced forward, only to be intercepted by Pelinal Whitestrake, bastard sword in hand.

“I have dealt with your kind before,” growled Pelinal, “and you shall share their fates.”

With a roar Pelinal danced forwards, and with an almost lazy grace lopped the wolf’s head from its shoulders. The wolf toppled over slowly, as if reluctant to accept its own death. With a contented sigh, Whitestrake rose and cleaned his blade on the wolf’s corpse, then turned to the villagers, who stood in shocked silence.

“It is done, my good people. Let us now return to our lives…” said Pelinal softly.

It was only then that the villagers heard the clatter of hooves on cobblestone, and looked up to see the Lord-Baron West descending on the village square with an entourage of men-at-arms. Reining in at the edge of the square, West only glanced at the used and gore-covered gibbet in the center of the square before signaling his men to ring the villagers, crossbows at the ready and swords not far from hand.

“My Lord-Baron, there is no need for this,” declared Pelinal, “we have dealt with an infestation of werewolves for you, and likely rid the countryside of further menacing. I would suggest you commend these few survivors for the-“

“Silence, Whitestrake,” ordered the Earl, “what madness is this? Werewolves?”

West’s eyes skittered over the corpse of the giant wolf lying at Pelinal’s feet, and the half-beast upon the gibbet. But it was not fear or loathing that lay there in his eyes; it was horror and sadness.
“What have you done?” Pelinal heard the Baron whisper, “what foolishness did you commit, to see yourself hunted down like this… we were so…. So careful…”

Now it was Pelinal’s turn for his eyes to grow wide with horror, “No!”

“Yes, Pelinal! Guardsmen, put down this murderous scum. They are clearly insane!” ordered West, his eyes glowing a feral yellow in the gathering moonlight.

The village square filled with the terrified screams of the village folk, the twang of crossbow strings, and the clang of steel on steel. By the time the scene had settled, the square had become a slaughterhouse, riddled with the corpses of villager and guardsman, but search as they may, the guardsmen could find no sign of Pelinal Whitestrake, who Lord-Baron West had declared the instigator of this madness.

Vainglory denied me the ending I had planned for the wolf victory, so I had to make do. :p I hope you guys don't mind, I thought it was an interesting and unexpected way to end it...

Is that really all the villagers left alive? I feel that I missed one or two, but maybe I'm wrong...

No worries ese - as Randy said, it gave some good alibi for you. And Snoop as well for that matter.

Good Game all, was fun!

Well, the important thing is that I am alive.

No, that's everyone Tai: it's 4/1 with Ese's surrender making it 4/0... from an initial 13 good players that's a high butcher's bill...

Muahahaha, the wolves still prevail!

So it's you, then.

I had to do what was necessary for the village to win and save the seer. I should have bluffed and said I knew the wolfs. could have worked. but I didnt want to be a dick.
my mistake. should've known better. ohh well. wasn't a bad game. wolves being quiet just didn't work.

good win seer. and gm tnx for the game.

I went after rendap for the said reason - a vote on someone who has a random vote when you have reasons for other candidates is weird. The vote felt funny and I attacked it, and got it right :)

Though I really did think yak was a wolf after that.
