Ok... after some reflexion and reading some informations i'm volonteer to begin the work of aberrating West Africa.

I will work on Ashanti,Dahomey,Benin and Kongo... for the beginning.
I have some question :

1) Which id range can i take for monarch and leader for those country ?
2) Can i reserve U17 and U18 if not in use for potential additional country ?
3) Somebody want to help me to translate my approximative english when i publish events ?

Those countries are pretty much begging to be vassalized by Cordoba.

I didn't agree...

Some of them (like Ashanti) survives as idependant state until the last colonization wave of Africa by France and England in late 19th Century... they have great aberrated potential...

We must limit the cordoban expansion...

4. No Great Powers, No Blobs

Accordingly, there are no great powers in Aberration II (Spain, England etc) and we are structuring the game such that massive countries do not readily form up as they do in vanilla and other mods.

They can rule Iberia, North Africa and later colonize part of America... Yes Cordoba must rule the world... if i play them

Tarakan - all the more reason to have them properly Aberrated so they are not! :)

There are soooo many ways to get around DA, and well-built event files can ensure that this horrid part of the game is not exploited by players or the ai.

Now, to answer your questions, Crio.

I can assign numbers and tags ( we have tonnes), that's not a problem. Very easily done. But first, before you start making monarch lists etc, you really need to develop a storyline.

1. What is the Aberrated History for the region.

2. What does Western Africa look like in 1419?

3. What are the overall plans for each of these nations from that point?

Consider looking into my Morocco sequence of events Crio , perhaps we can work together?

I read them Calipah. Agree that we need to work together. IMHO I see 3 great possibilities for this part of africa largely influenced by Maroccan evolution.

Marocco was assimilated by Cordoba. These countries will expand a little northward and stop the Cordoban Africa expansion. Cordoba capital was too far for really be a thread.

Marocco Survive and Became a great power (According to your recent events line). Minor of west africa became vassal of this great power but Kongo is the limit (A desert people don't fight well in jungle)

Marocco Survive and take a north africa path, Without real early competition Ashanti or Benin or the wealthiest country here became a local power and grown to the south...

I try to create some storyline for the three path... what do you think about that ?

Well of course, with no Morocco, they can take over the Tizi Wozo cross, since nobody is there.Though Cordoba should show a bit of a fight, but not total intrest for some enslaved Africans :D

Yeah, Benin perhaps.Though I imagine Morocco would become a force of spreading Islam, so even if it dosent reach the jungles, Missionaries should penetrate the area.

North African route?hmmmm, I never thought of that, though honestly, I dont feel Morocco should be excluded from inner Africa (really, its their only source of cash in RL historically speaking ) - but such an event is made if the Africans repulse the Moroccans "possible if they turn to Christians for aid perhaps?".

Sure , but whats the set up for Africa?assumingly, Timbuktu is part of Morocco :D

Sure... As IRL this part of Africa can be a moving limit between Christian an Muslim influences.

Ok but not before the first contact with the Christians nation...
Good idea...

Well you see, Morocco in my version took timbuktu well before game time (around 1399, during the Great tide) but the civil war cut them back from their continued march into Africa. What happens is, Morocco is reinvigorated to attack the Africans, that they turn to the Christian traders on the coasts, perhaps the Eirans or Genoese to help them. The Christians of course, simply sell techs to the African nations (as the conflict expands well up to the 1490s to 1500, where the resolution is, they gain temporary tech increases t fight off the Moroccans). If Morocco is victorious, well good enough control of the riches of Africa, Slaves, Gold and Ivory. The Sultan takes his Sultanate to the West, To Brazil as an Islamic Power. If He loses, well, Morocco can keep relative control over some lands in Africa, but she is, after all defeated.

The Africans, well, lets see.

Mali as ywnm puts it; could be an Emirate once again.Though dosent seem to be abberated, dosent it?Lets say Songhai never did arise, and Mali was the dominant power (large enough to fight back the Moroccans, destabalized enough to lose).Mostly Muslim, some Pagans to the south. As for the southern tribes, well pagans of course. They can either be won by the persuasion of the Christen traders or Muslim conquerers, and I lean to the latter for my own reasons ;) :D

Ok it's the proposal of base situation in West Africa.

Mali Empire still survive and shongai never rose. The first capital was Timbuktu in the Early 1400 (Calipah: First Capital i say ;) ), Muslim faith became state religion (the north of Mali and Royal Court is already converted) A series of events convert some of middle provinces and the possible build of greats mosques in all the empire. Until 1500 (or until a war with Marocco) Every 5 year the court can do a pilgrimage to Mecca. This pilgrimage is expensive, improve relation with other muslim nation and sometimes cause trouble in the Empire (A revolt profit the absence of the Mansa)

Limits : Actual Mali+ Shongaï+ Mossi

Ashanti people move east and take Dahomey, Zaria and Ivoria Abomeh still the capital.

Ashanti and Oyo rest Pagan... A the beginning, they have a alliance for protecting to Malian Expansion... In case of attack Kongo can send Mercenaries.

Oyo: Occupe the eastern Benin. Capital is Oye a series of events explain the trade of Gold and Copper between Mali Traders and Oyo Nobility. The influance of Muslim Trader can be greater Later, Oyo Break the alliance with Ashanti hoping take territories and direct contact with Mali for breaking the important toll of Asantehene.

More later...

I take time to write the rest because i first read a lot on the history of the west africa in EU times... it was amazing complex and very interressant ! I never suppose that these people have complex politic concept, greats adventurer and important commercial relations with sometimes far countries... It's a pity that we (european) didn't learn more about the rest of the world at school :eek:o

But of course!Youd be amazed how deep the political intrigues were not only in west Africa, but North Africa and al-Andalus especially. They were minirature "The Prince" Emirs going around, Caliph assasinations, Kings commiting coups...etc

When did the Mali Empire swich for the IRL History ?

Between 1377 and 1387 :
The Mali Empire never decline, Musa II took the throne following the death of his father, Mansa Mari Diata II. Musa II did much to reverse the excesses of his tyrannical father and rapidly restore the power of the empire, Grand Vizier Mari Diata never take the Throne and be hanged for treason after a aborted coup.

Oh dear, Calipah's not going to turn this into the Islamisation of all of Africa, is he? :D

Don't worry I prepare a revange of Pagan and a Possible Bhuddist Chain of event for the Southwest Africa...

*Sigh*

Habib, I do my part.If people see Im doing too much with the mod's Islamic World, weither it be in CAL, CRD or North Africa, I will stop. What Im working on is to create a wider spectrum for experiancing the Muslim World that is not just limited to Cordoba, Caliphate or Egypt.

I agree... It's because i will really propose 3 differents path for Western and maybe South Africa...

Still Pagan / Christian influance
Bouddhist / Muslim influance
Muslim / Pagan and Christian influance.

With later a possibilities to switch Religion influanced by surrounding Power...

The Player Choose, The A.I. prefer Pagan or Muslim...

But if Religion is important in EU Timescale, i will base a important series of events and intrigue based on culture and commerce.

Buddhist?Whats the reason behind Buddhism?

Christianity understandable (Christian traders, conquerers...etc)
Islam understandable (in existance long in west africa)
but where does Buddhism stand?I assume a Chinese vessel went around south Africa, crashed into the shores of the tribals and spread Buddhism?a small community perhaps?

Something like this... Some buddhist monk/adventurer

It can be possible if the region stay pagan and be fascinated by these "strange" strangers coming from far east...

It begin with a simple conversion of a southern provinces... but later, in 1600-1650 influance can be stronger...

For the moment i just write some basic ideas... let them grown in a small part of my brain and wait...
