I've finally got around to doing the terrain map. It's not particularly fancy and doesn't really tell you anything about the terrain as I used a generic texture, but it does at least mean you don't see the old map when you load up.

I'm thinking Waterford, Cork and Dublin should have a Norse culture. From what I can gather, Dublin and Cork were mostly settled by Danes, while Waterford was Norwegian. On the other hand, Dublin maybe should be Irish, due to waning Viking influence by 1066. Any ideas, anyone? :)

Yes, all three should probably have Scandinavian culture. Downham and others have shown that dividing Scandinavian settlers in the British Isles into "Norwegian and Danish" is anachronistic before the 11th century (and this breakdown of the Irish Vikings you are talking about is based on a rather spurious modern attempts to explain what Dubhgall and Finngall were). Since the game by default divides Scandinavians into Norwegians, Danes and Swedes, the Irish Norse should probably be Norwegian in order to share the culture of other Irish Sea Scandinavians.
I remember one mod using the "Norse Gaels" which is probably the best way of doing it, but culture tags are hard to come by.

A problem is that Norse Gaels is sometimes a translation of "Gall Gaidhel" (also "Galwegians"), and these guys aren't Irish Norse, but an ethnic group in what is now south-western Scotland (Argyll, Ayrshire, Galloway, Dumfriesshire) who are Gaelic rather than Norse.

A good ethnic appellation would be the one used by the Anglo-Normans, "Ostmen".

I'm trying to add as many coats of arms for the new provinces as possible. Currently missing COAs for:

Ui Mhaine
Teviotdale
Pescara
Catania
Aurillac
Arles
Islay
Cill Dara
Coria
Breifne
Marche
Fir Manach

Any ideas for these (source images or finished shields) would be welcome. :)

I could go on but I figure you have google too. ;)

Most of them pop up as the first page after you google *Name* coat of arms.
None of those are the actual coats of arms of those places though. Typing in 'xxx coat of arms' into google produces a lot of dubious and anachronistic results, so it's not as simple as that. House of Names especially is a problem, as all the COAs on that site appear to be pure fabrications.

Here's what I can offer:

http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/7952/pescarax.jpg
http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/1985/cataniad.jpg
http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/7857/aurillac.jpg
http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/224/arles.jpg

Pescara: one is the community, the other one the province; your choice.

The rest is hard to find. Teviotdale, for instance, does not exist anymore. So shall the coat of Scottish Borders be taken or of the biggest city of that area council? Same with the irish places.

Thanks, that was useful as I didn't have one for Pescara or Aurillac yet. I've found a few more since I posted the list, so the remaining provinces lacking are Ui Mhaine and Islay. For Teviotdale I used the Roxburghshire COA, it's probably anachronistic but it will do for the time being.

Athlone's probably as close as we'll get, so that will the Ui Mhaine's COA. Skye isn't part of the province of Islay on the map, so I went with the Clan Donald COA as they styled themselves as 'Lords of Islay' for a while.

Features:
-1066, 1187 and 1337 scenarios all now fully playable.
-New recreatable kingdoms added, Andalusia, Mann and the Isles and Sardinia.
-Breton, Berber, Wendish, Lombard and Norse-Gaelic cultures added
-Over 50 new coats of arms.
-New terrain map mode
-Redrawn Sardinia and Corsica, adding three new provinces
-Province id map and blank outline map included with download
-Some other tweaks to the scenario set ups.

Install by extracting the file over a clean install of Crusader Kings or previous version of WEMM.

Here's a look at Corsica and Sardinia:

You should have used DVIP as base :/
Many things already exist in there that you made in your mod.

I'm not going to do that because DVIP isn't my mod. Hopefully at some point there will be an official DVIP release using this map, but that's up to Jord to make.
