1. First of all: fix simulation speed in larger cities!
I have the city of 360k population and simulation is ultra slow what makes game unplayable. Turning on faster speed doesn't give any effect.
2. Fix buses and trains waiting at the station for a long time with almost endless boarding.
3. There is definitely a need of large train stations for huge cities.

Please take a look at the MAPS and MAP MECHANICS! I think that several things could be improved:
- The outer rim of maps often looks very unrealistic. For example the straight lines of snow. Rivers starting and ending at the borders of the inner map part totally break immersion.
- Please improve the wind mechanics. Many maps have magical wind "sources", where all arrows come from one origin. Also why is wind often reversed on the outer rim? And by the way: Did it occur to you that you could increase re-playbility of a map considerably, if a player could choose a different wind direction, when starting the map?
- And to be honest: Some official maps look as if they were clicked together during one night (looking at you, Sunshine Peninsula and Corral Riches). I know that the quality of maps has improved in CS:1 with every new DLC. I hope we will soon see the same for CS:2 (I mean the improved quality, not tons of DLCs :) )

What specifically do you want beyond the sand surfaces that came with the surface tool in .16f?
Functional beaches / beach tagged area. Could be similar on how parks works in CS1. Cims being able to walk on the beach, swim, etc.
Beach related assets, recreations, events...
Also would be nice to have "breakwaters" made of concrete blocks (tetrapods) and seawalls, maybe could be done as an elevated road upgrade instead of the retaining walls when building over water.

What's wrong with Sunshine Peninsula? Just curious as it's the one map I've played...
I find this one high plateau with an absolutely flat top and a perfectly centered lake highly unrealistic. The rest of the map is also more or less on one height level. I also think that the map maker started to create some more details around the plateau but then ran out of time on the other parts. Generally this map looks rather random. It tells no story and thus doesn't spark creativity. Creating the coastline may have taken some effort but then the rest of the terrain is relatively boring.

In comparison, just look at highly detailed CS:1 maps like Northwood Hills or Fisher Enclave. Even something as simple as a desert map (desert oasis) can be quite detailed.

In general, most official CS:2 maps have wide open spaces. There is no landscape to guide the player and very little natural obstacles that shape the city.

Some animated firepits, people spawning in beach areas with chairs, beach umbrellas, and laying on towels would be really neat. Some lifeguard towers. Basically a beach could function as a park that requires placement on shoreline adjacent to shallow water. Cims in beach attire would give the coastal feel to a city. Heck even add people swimming and surfing in beach areas if we get a beach area and surf area tool.

Beach upgrades/related assets (Restrooms, lifeguard towers, beach volleyball, beach gym, firepits, fishing pier, bike/skate path, beach showers, wood pylons).

It's a good start but not enough, because the transition between sand surface and the land is not smooth.

Just for the sand beach, not even talking about human activities, the base game has not enough textures and vegetation props to design a nice looking beach without having to rely on mods (it's probably not that far I think).

Beach is, in my opinion, a base landscape that shall be available in the base game, not with mods or dlc.

I'd like to be able to do this:

Reminds me of this nice beach. We just need some nice textured rock/boulder props for cliffsides like prop assets made for the 1st City Skylines. As well as grassy and ground cover plant textures.

Actually, what I want the most is to not have to fiddle with pedestrian paths to fill in zones the way I want to. If two roads have overlapping zone grids, let me decide for myself what street I want to zone on.

Have you actually tried drawing beaches with this tool?

Between the straight edges and the bland texture, I couldn't get it to look good. Maybe there's a trick to it, admittedly I've only tried once.

I'd love this. Would be great to have a 'beach brush' you could use to draw belieavable beaches.

Aside from fixing the bugs (homeless, tourists/hotels, production/imports, etc), I'd like to see more life in the city like it was in CS1: people playing football on pitches, firemen using their equipment to put out fires, etc. Right now the game still feels too sterile. Many people have mentioned before, and I'd also like to see more public spaces like markets, libraries, museums, concert halls, convention centres, and places of worship. I know they've said they're loathe to add that last one, but how on earth can you build a reasonably realistic European city without a church every few hundred metres? :D

Tree tool improvements - the ability to select multiple trees.
Native line tool.
More pedestrian path options - with lights.
Steps for changes in pedestrian path levels instead of just ramps.
Better traffic management - control of individual lane turns, timed traffic lights.
The traffic destination tool from CS1 so you can see where vehicles are going by type.
Access to props, benches, hedges, food stand, trash cans, etc.
Bikes
