Is this while keeping the population poor through high taxation?

Though I agree, you can make bank as a tiny island and still have your population getting their everyday needs met. It's kind of ridiculous, especially since this was a time of economic turmoil pretty much all over the world (European economy was in crisis early game, then it boomed with the industrial revolution, and then it hit a recession in the late 19th century, for example).

Luckily, Paradox has really honed down on the ability to spend money in CKII and EU4, so hopefully, there will be a lot more expenses to make your nation great.

Honestly? It doesn't matter. Ten years after the game start in vanilla, regardless of how I set my financial settings, I'm swimming in endless amounts of cash.

Leaders, like Presidents, Prime Ministers, Monarchs who have dynamic traits and attributes who influence the country and can be replaced in elections/revolutions/succession.

I would like to see an EUIV -> VIC3 converter capable of handling the RNW and handling CK2->EUIV conversion mods, easily allowing the player to play a campaign all the way from the 700s to the 1900s.

I forgot something. I really loved the map of Vic II. It looked exactly like the old maps in my history atlas in school. Especially the font of the country names was awesome. Please keep the style. do not make it a "realistic" map ... pretty please.

I'd love Vicky3 to be a tad more personal, somewhere between Vicky2 and CK2.
I mean, the game is named after the British Queen. Why not play as the British Queen? I'd love to see historical monarchs as national leaders. Kaiser Wilhelm II. with a megalomaniac trait and a limp arm...

To add to this, it shouldn't be hard at that point to make a Vic3-HOI4 converter at that point either.

Also, this. Or at least give us options. Vic2's map was my favorite Paradox map.

I'm pretty sure they already came out and said they are highly unlikely to ever put out another official converter due to their experience with the CK2->EU IV converter and all the work needed to keep it up to date.

- Leaders, with pictures and dynamic traits.
- I know it's not CK2, but I think more importance should be given to royal dynasties. At the very least, give special diplomatic options if two countries are ruled by the same house (such as Bourbon or Habsburg). I also thought about giving monarchies a common "dynastic prestige" value separated from national prestige. It would modify the national increase or decrease in prestige gain and be affected by the actions from other members of the same dynasty, especially great powers (obviously, war among members of the same dynasty would not be seen as really prestigious). Republic would have a similar mechanic based on ideology, and maybe the few remaining theocracies could have "faith prestige" affected by all countries practicing the same religion.
- Make the game start and end earlier. World War One should have a game on its own, just like Hearts of Irons, it was a turning point in warfare and requires different mechanics than the XIXth century.
- More countries in Africa, and better westernization mechanics.
- Even though most HoI4 players hated Together for Victory with a passion, several of the mechanics it included would be excellent ideas for a Victoria game. The scaled puppet system would be mandatory for Victoria 3 (even though I think colonies and protectorates should be differenciated from western autonomous states) and technology sharing would be great.
- I'd like to see the mission system from Europa Universalis or the Focus Trees from HoI4 (in a more dynamic form) make its way to this game. It's a great way to add flavour to countries and give the players something to do.
- Maybe something inspired from Mandate of Heavens' ages system. Divide the game into several period with goals to achieve and a few mechanical changes not relying on technologies. The 1860's/1870's would be the time of African colonisation and national unification, for exemple.
- Political parties should be able to change over time to some extent (a pacifist party could become anti-militarist and vice versa).
- The election events are a pain in the ass, especially in MP. It's annoying, repetitive and take all your time and attention for several monthes. You should either change them or remove them.
- Multiple research slots could be nice.

- consciousness and militancy are not very clear.
Indeed. I played some hundred hours and my understanding of those two things is "consciousness = somwehat bad, sometimes, but ok-ish somwehow" and "militancy = bad". What exactly these things represent, how they work and how I can promote and/or prevent them is totalliy unclear to me.

Of course than comes the question of how much into detail do you want to go regarding equipement and armies, as much detail as HOI4 is probably a bit too much, but at the same time the vic 2 level of detail for armed forces does seem a bit too shallow. And this means of course that the economy system needs to be adapted accordingly.
This statement is somewhat schizophrenic. Yes, you don't produce "Musket" or "Rifle" but "Small Arms" all the time, but on the other hand if you want to have a "Division" with Infantry and Artillery you need Small Arms, Artillery, Ammunition**, Canned Food, Liquor* and Wine* in VicII whereas in HoI IV you only need "Infantry equipment" and "Towed Artillery"

So under this aspect the system of Vic is imho more detailed. And I would love to see both systems merged, so some products (not necessarily limited to military goods) do have "levels" and factories need actually to upgrade (or at least make some form of investment) to produce newer versions.

(* For build only, ** for supply only)

So much this! One of the things I don't like in HoI IV compared to HoI III is the new map. The HoI III map looked like an actual map of that time laid out in a war room and even had folds... This gives imho far more immersion than the current presentation.

Why is Paradox cracking down on Vicky 3 threads? If the front page is covered in multiple page Vicky 3 threads going back months, it's a sign that there is enthusiasm for a product.

Or maybe they're cracking down because a Victoria 3 forum is about to be created???????

Victoria 3 confirmed!

I disagree. The designation of this thread as the Vicky 3 megathread is a sign of them caving before relentless popular demand. For the first time in history Vicky 3 has an official status. The game itself will follow shortly.

Let this thread be our barricade against the entrenched tyrannical forces of non-Vickyism.

Or maybe they don't want to have to wade through a page or two of repetitive, uninteresting Victoria III NAO!!!! threads to see other posts they might actually be interested in reading?

Sarcasm?

Migration and assimilation should be reworked in Victoria III. In 2, the only real condition for migration is "are you USA or not?" Migration should be more based on controllable issues, such as reforms, the availability of jobs and the amount of wide open land to settle. There could even be decisions and policies to entice immigration, such as land grants. Assimilation should also be toned down; the entirety of the USA becoming monocultural doesn't really fit (as there were multiple culturally strong minority enclaves like "Chinatowns" and "Little Italies") Immigration should also not be a universally good thing for your nation. For example, excessive migration from different cultures could incite anti-immigration movements, like anti-Catholicism in the 19th century United States.
