The box version of the game works with steam. You can get the DLC there and use your free DLC activation code.

Depending on the country, the boxed copy runs with Steam. This is stated on the cover, so you should check if it is so. And if it is, you'll need to install Steam to get the free DLC. Could you check from the credits which version number you have? It says it right under "Cities in Motion".

Seriously the night shift is not working well for me, of course you have the version 1.0.21 since you just got the latest patch :)

So does it say it's a Steam version on the cover? I believe in Austria it should be.

Hehe, get some coffee. :)

Well the cover says... but I just tried to get the DLC in the steam shop, but it doesn't ask me for a code.

Hi BalroG_,

What kind of code did you get?
Is it something like one of the following?
AAAAA-BBBBB-CCCCC
or
AAAAA-BBBBB-CCCCC-DDDDD-EEEE
or
237ABCDGHJLPRST 23

If that's the case, you probably have a product activation code on Steam:
-you need to go into the Steam client and log in
-in the menu, select Games > Active a product on Steam...
-it will open a dialog asking you to press next a few times and then you are asked to enter a product code, type the code you were given and next again
-it will then acquire the DLC (whichever it was that was bundled with your game) for you

Hope that helps :)
Cheers,

Unfortunately not, they are the server providers for the patches and DLC for the boxed version...
At the moment, can you start the game without going through Steam? If yes, which folder is your game installed in and can you start it just by using a desktop shortcut?
As far as I understand, Steam boxed games require Steam to start when you start the game too, so you should already be having the steam client running?

I am not sure about how it is handled in your country, but a wild guess is if you go to your steam client, redeem the DLC and close the steam client (and not restart it until you are looking for a new update). You will be able to keep playing your game as before, but with the added DLC.

Did you already activate the product with the code as well?
In your game library, right click on Cities in Motion and select Properties...
It opens a new window with a tab on the far end right side of the tabs which says DLC, click and it will list the DLCs you own.

Also, which DLC pack did they advertise with the game when you bought it? Was it a pre-order?

Hey! Quick question. I bought CIM a couple of days ago with the package "All DLC". And today steam downloaded 40mb to update my game. This isn't the whole German Cities package, is it?

Nope, if you check the product descriptions you ordered the following: Cities in Motion, Cities in Motion: Design Classics, Cities in Motion: Design Marvels, Cities in Motion: Design Now, Cities in Motion: Metro Stations, Cities in Motion: Tokyo

The German Cities DLC came out today. It's a new DLC which is not included in any package deal at the moment.
The 40MB update was the free 1.0.21 patch which includes one german city: Munich with a new campaign, 5 new vehicles and 3 user made maps (and a bunch of bug fixes).
Also, you can see the DLC you already own in the DLC tab of the game properties :)
