Which battle, crusade, religious event, war, excommunication, etc - do you look forward to most?

I think the first crusade will be fun. I hope it is modelled well. Is anyone looking forward to scandanavian crusades? Who wants to play as Russia or Poland?

Anyone?

Which events might be hard to model accurately?

What I think will be extremly hard to model is... well, most of what you list: Battles, wars, crusades, excommunications...

Since we have a new cast of characters every time we play I would be surprised if anything plays out closely to the way it dit historically. Historic wars might not happend because the matter is settled, crusades are not called and certainly not with the historic characters, new dynasties emerge and fall...

I know I only talk about portugal etc etc etc. But still.......

My favorite event will be the Indepencency of Portugal

Now that was a surprise! :p

Hope you'll see it in some games at least ;) (and there's always the later scenarios... :))

Do you consider this one of the better aspects of the game? Would you prefer historical or a more history/fantasy aspect? I think the latter gives it more playability, don't you?

As long as there are separate scenarios to start off the divergence from history at various points in time I think it will be for the better. I would like, of course, the main things to happend roughly as they did (that the Spanish did push out the Moors, that the Normans did conquer Sicily, that attempts were made to liberate the Holy Land etc) but I will not cry if they didn't all do in every game ... :)

I like a historical game. More that just a Fantasy game that start historical. I was really didn't like that of a Navarren being the king of norway I really don't. And thank God their will be more afvance scenarios. My first game Must be with Portugal ( not if I enter the beta of cource ) <------------------ HINT HINT HINT

Hey!

:D

The fact that a Navarrese ended up on the Norwegian throne in one game shouldn't scare anyone off I'd say. There are numerous examples of far-off weird inheritances through history - an Austrian on the Spanish throne  or a French hungarian king... or a Bohemian king from the house of Luxembourg? The list goes on...

Or that a Swabian could become King of Sicily, or an Angevin the ruler of Hungary, or a Burgundian ruler of Portugal. And what about a Plantagenet on the throne of Castile (which nearly happened too)?

When I play England I'm going after France only for tactical ends, to keep the balance of power and to protect Normandy, I'm not going to seek to inherit the farm. Flanders will be my playground instead.

I do welcome the flexibility, in fact it's one of the main things drawing me to the game.

Mongol invasions will be what I look forward to and with some editing, so I can play The Mongols, I might be able to be the one doing the invading ;).

Mongol invasions i like to see how that plays out most the time.
will they be strong in the game like in military?
