so can we play as a kokujin? or is the smallest we can start is having a daimyo title?

You can play as a kokujin.

awesome thanks!

so as a kokujin, do you just have 1 province with a daimyo over you? sorry for the questions. new to Japanese history. but i am finding it very interesting! :)

Something tiny in the north or south, just to get the hang of the game quietly and peacefully.

Whatever nation the flag I use as avatar belongs to. Otherwise would probably have gone for something in the North Island; or maybe on the South Island; or maybe near Osaka because I have good memories with Magna Mundi,... well not really, painful memories; or maybe the one that did give me good memories, the one which started with a CoT in the SW; or maybe the Takeda; or...

Why so many choices? It drives me mad : (

I will be a loyal, honest servant of the Ashikaga.

Pff--

Ahem. After all, they are the rightful shoguns of japan, and order must be restorheeehaaaa---

Cough. I have absolutely no intention to backstab and break away, forming my own clan which will dominate Japan for a thousand years.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The Miyoshi look fun. And I like their name. Their name is Important.

Other than that my modded in clan who have one province... might as well start from the beginning. Kurokawa perhaps with my avatars flag except with purple instead of white.

Well I always enjoyed the Mori in Nobunaga's Ambition, so I will probably go with them. Plus taking down the Ouchi early will be fun.

I am tempted to play a multiplayer game straight off the bat with one person as the Oda and the other as the Matsudaira.

im thinking playing takeda as i like the flag and i also played them first in shogun 2. Im not sure though as its split and next big enemies. Could be fun.... Others could be Shimazu or someone else from tips islands

I hate the Takeda with a passion. Overrated clan, anyway, with the luck of having an overated leader who built himself a legend and died before he could make a lasting impact.

I'll probably go with Go-Hôjô.

[Nitpicking]The Go-Hojo clan didn´t exist in 1467. Their progenitor, Ise Shinkuro was a courtier at that time.[/Nitpicking] His overall stats are very impressive compared to many lords.
