modifying the exe = not allowed.
distributing the exe = not allowed.

While this mod does alot of useful things, we simply can't change the rules (due to legal reasons).

DL closed due to reasons stated above

Damn, it looks great. But why flags aren't fluttering?
the pictures aren't animated, so they can't move. ;)

I don't like the original fluttering that much. I could have introduced lesser effect, but it would have been too much work for such a small thing.

So i prefer clean and clear flags over the original radically fluttering ones.

Would you also be able to add 1360x768 as a resolution?

Possibly... I could add .exe and load_high.bmp files for that resolution too.

Some updates and new stuff such as counters(not 100% complete yet) and scenario plates.

The mod weights 268mb at the moment. I'm possibly going to do fluttering animations for the flags, but not yet decided if i should also go for correct flag size ratios.

OMG, awesome scenario plates! :)

Very nice work! But the DL is quite heavy. What does it do to the game? What changes the checksum. i dont need all the graphics, i need the same checksum vanilla uses. Did you edit the .exe?

Dude, changing the gfx never changes the checksum or the .exe

In fact, changing the maps' colors does.
And to get that large window, he must have edited the .exe as well. iirc.

About some stuff you've been wandering.

Size: It seems that the skins times every country in the game takes alone 182mb, so i'll be looking in to that.

Checksum: The widescreen resolution can only be achived through .exe hacking. Since there is no resolution options, the default resolution must be overwritten. Also you mentioned that country colors change cheksum, then it's that thing too!

Swastikas: Blurred out from the screen shots.

My slow response time: I'm doing my military service at the moment, so weeks straight without internet connection and computers at a time makes things slow for me. I have 34 days left of my service, after that i'm in reserve and probably have time to finish this project, at least to the state of release.

Mod distribution(when it's ready): As mentioned earlier the heavy size of the mod seems to come from the skins, so the size will drop a lot. I still have some plans to release parts of it separetly, since i know some people only want parts of it and combine it with somthing else.

PS. Without skins and compression the size is ~50mb

Maybe a weird question: Does this work with DD 1.3a? I mean, Armageddon isnt really my type so I was just wondering...

May I can get the download file via PN please? Ur maps do look awesome and for me having a 22" inch screen the wider resolution would make the game way better..

Pretty please!! :)

Armageddon probably has different .exe, but it shouldn't be a problem to add dd compatible .exe as well.

I'll get back to you guys at 4.1.08 Don't be expecting any progress before that.

I've been looking for a widescreen resolution mod for ages.

I've tried to get it happening myself, but i think because i haven't resized the skins, the visible division count on the map bleeds through the gaps caused by the resizing when scrolling and the game crashes about 15 seconds later.

Looks like you have solved that problem by redoing the entire UI set (and perhaps a little 'under the hood' tweaking).

Awesome.

BTW i think from the screenshots here that your style is both elegant and professional. I like it alot. It doesn't matter at all that the skins are the same for all countries - i'm playing on 1680 x 1050 right now and frankly, HOI looks terrible. So 1440 x 900 would be the single best cosmetic mod i think of for me right now.

Also you should know that when you finish this, you will have achieved something never before done (as far as i know) and will have blessed us all with a template with which to work with ourselves (for country specific skins, for mods, etc etc), thus immortalising yourself in the annals of HOI II history, forever.

Well done hero, and i can't wait.
