Hi folks!

I have been working on a small graphical mod for HOI2. My main focus has been to make the game graphically widescreen friendly and my focus resolution has been 1440x900 due to my laptop mainly using it. My style could probably be descriped mainly as clean and clear. But i think images can speak better than words in this case.

-Mainmenu Background (Looks best on Widescreen)
-New Scenario plates for 1936,1938,1939,1941,1944
-Scenario names and default selectables changed, content unchanged
-All Propaganda posters replaced with roundels
-All Shields remade (Better and more accurate colors)
-All Flags remade (No sway anim, better and more accurate colors)

-1440x900 Loadscreen (load_high.bmp)
-All map colors changed (Terrain colors still makes perfect sence) UPDATED 18.11.07
-New interface background (All countries use the same for now)
-New counters (More authentic)

Other mods:
BeBro - All his excellent sprite mods
SKIF - Possibly going to use his great icons

I'm hoping to get release version completed in near future.

Weight at the moment: 85 Mb (uncompressed)

Wow! Looks very fine! Do't let us wait too long... :D

I can say that i'm finalizing flags with fluttering right now and fixing one small thing, then this should be ready 100%

The one thing remains, this can't be played in multiplayer because of the checksum, unless someone knows a way to disable it's checking. In order to play this online everybody has to use the same resolution.

Correction: Resolution does not change checksum

When do you think we can download it?

Maybe you present your Mod in our DMP forum, so you may upload it in the donload section on the DMP forum ---> www.heartsofiron.eu/forum

Please, is there any possibility to download this mod, cant wait... :( ;)
It looks very nice on the screenshots and i had also a widescreen pc (iMac 24" ;) )

thanks and greetings from switzerland

The thing is i don't think i can use any help. Because i think in this case it would only complicate things. Such as direction and style of the graphics. Making all those flags however was quite a heavy duty, but thankfully that is done now.

The only thing you really need for the resolution hack is the Tool by Lord Ederon

you can get it from http://www.ederon.net/Programs/PegasusHexaWizard/tabid/64/language/en-US/Default.aspx

After creating the exe you only need to have "load_high.bmp" with the resolution you want to use in the gfx folder. You don't even need to edit skins, but it is nice to fille the cap in the sidebar. So it's pretty easy to do yourself too.

But that doesn't work. The game crashes on resolutions above 1280 x 1024 when you scroll within seconds. Even if that wasn't the case (which it is) the visible division count of units on the map 'bleed through' to the missing section on the far right and bottom of the screen (due to unresized skins) creating an ugly mess. It might in fact be related to the crash.

I'm not sure if you realise but no one has ever played HOI II in a resolution above 1280 x 1024 ever in the known history of the universe ever - not even Lord Ederon himself.

This is why your work is so important.

If you have it working and all you've really used is the the Pegasus Hexa Wizard res hack and taken the time and effort (respect) to edit all the in game skins and UI panels then wow indeed.

Still it would be nice to have your files.

IIRC there are reported success stories with 1440x900 resolution in "Play Doomsday @ 1280x1024" thread. I would have tested it myself, but my 17" LCD does 1280x1024 at most, so I'm stuck with it.

The resolutions I have "okayed" have been tested in my desktop and laptop, so for those resolutions there is atleast one case of success.

I tested installing my pack to fresh install yesterday and the results were quite successful. I also know a place to upload my pack now. So I could promise link for DL this weekend.

I LOVE YOU

Oh wow, this looks pretty awesome... one question though... will 1680*1050 ever be supported? If so, I feel obliged to propose marriage to you.

EDIT: Wait a sec, I just realised 1440*900 is pretty close anyway, so the higher resolution graphics will still be an improvement and everything. Still, will there be any official 1860*1050 type thingies?

the pegasus hex by Ederon is working for 1680*1050 (At least on my comp), but in fact make things worst than a streched one.

First you have to use the keyboard arrow for moving in all direction for at least 30 secs, then you can use the mouse for moving the screen.

ther is also a black line on the right and on the bottom.

Then I also got random CTD , when the mouse pass over some elements (never the same from time to time).

In my opinion that is because the map is not draw exactly where it should be draw, so after a while the errors got accumulate, and CTD (maybe a garbage collector problem too).
