I hope so because I think it is awesome!!!

Awesome thanks!

I really like the Clauswitz engine. I look at civ and the total war games then look at clauswitz and get blown away every time

Yes it does! Clauzewitz is a great engine and works almost flawless!

Well that sucks. Clauswitz is incredibly unstable and has terrible netcode. Maybe EU5 will have a new engine, sigh.
EU4 is infinitely more playable in multiplayer than CK2. CK2 pretty much doesn't have multiplayer, where as EU4 is very multiplayer friendly.

We can only hope Stellaris has the same effort for multiplayer that EU4 did.

Ck2 is a Clausewitz game, so I fail to see your point. EU4 is also pretty much unplayable in multiplayer right now.

My point that the Clausewitz engine is terribly unstable and unsuited for multiplayer stands.

I completely disagree. I have managed to play Victoria 2 multiplayer without too much trouble. The Clauzewitz engine is a great engine, a lot better than the ones at CA or Firaxis. It would also be ridicolous to change the engine due to some small bugs in some specific patches.

The tricky thing is that since Clausewitz is just code and frameworks, you can't really make a good comparison between Stellaris and CK2. Certainly some thing will be the same, but some systems would be new. And netcode is 99% up to the game.

The problem with all netcode is that it has to be thought about from the start, and thoroughly tested continuously as the game develops. Getting good netcode at the end of the project is never going to work out particularly well. With each project, multiplayer becomes implemented and tested earlier and earlier, so I expect both HoI4 and Stellaris to be way better in that regard.

Edit: Though I am not working on HoI or Stellaris, so no promises. :)

Thanks Mrop for explaining that. Sorry for being rude, tempers are just high right now in my group because we are denied our paradox multiplayer fix :p

We are all looking forward to Stellaris, and have our fingers crossed for it having good multiplayer :)

That's a real shame Mrop. I'd much rather that development time/resources be used to give us a better SP game. MP should be almost an independent effort.

Clausewitz is a really good engine? *cough*

The multiplayer of eu4 is only for hardcore fans, because of the following problems: Out of sync, connection failed, no kick option ingame (trolling people), fps drop.
If this engine would run smoothly, even in 2015, the multiplayer of the game would have a much bigger and active fanbase.

PDS has gotten a lot better with MP. with HOI 4 the got it to work perfect for hours on end, with 20+ people, in pre=alpha state.

Clausewitz is an engine with quite a few incarnations by now. IIRC Clausewitz 1 was for EU3, Vicky I think was CW 1.5, CK2 had Clausewitz 2, and EUIV CW 3. Some stuff has been back ported, like the snow in CK2 was originally a feature from EUIV, and both CK2 (and EUIV?) had the netcode replaced by Steamworks a while ago. The engines do get updated, but a lot of the issues can pop up in patches not directly being the engine.

MP isn't really my thing, even though I've played a few games, but looking at the vast improvement from the good old days of EU:Rome MP and EUIV MP does give me a warm fuzzy feeling.

First of all, avoid necromancy. Secondly: stop linking specific cases of bugs to the whole engine! If you have issues, I suggest that you make suggestions or bug reports.

Dear lovely loup99,

I've played hundreds of multiplayer matches in euIV, don't you think I know about the problems of this engine? Maybe many problems are patch related in euIV, but the network code of clausewitz could be better.

Whatever, I want to mention that intel processors are working much better with clausewitz, than AMD ones. Many people know about AMD, but I personally had no problems with their processors till clausewitz engine showed me the compability problem.
