In the 1187 scenario, all turkish moslem courtiers in Asia Minor have Greek lastnames.

Why would it be better than having moslem lastnames for only 5 years of remaining Byzantine rule compared to turkish rule all through Crusader Kings timespan..
The problem here as i see is not assigning spesific lastnames to spesific cultures. But since this cannot be fixed (or can it?) i would suggest adding some turkish lastnames to the same regions together with some versatile looking lastnames (similar in turkish and greek) especially in mixed provinces of Asia Minor if not immediate Aegean coast.

I think it's better the way it is now, because you won't be playing any anatolian turkish state in un-modded CK anyway, while you can play as anatolian greeks and afaik they are quite a popular choice to play with.

And if you mod, you can mod the dynasties to suit yourself too. ;)

True, but i was talking about 1187 scenario above. Even the 14th century scenario has Ottoman empire with Greek lastnames. You don't need to play moslems to see them, for example, when you declare war, you may have them defecting to your court, which makes it your problem. The current situation is very awkard with Turkish first name and greek lastname for a turkish moslem courtier.

The best solution would be to have dynasties tied to culture (it's just as silly seeing Knights Templar with Muslim surnames), but I don't know if that's implementable in a patch.

That would be completely different as it works now... Not an easy thing to do, for sure.

So what can be done about it? I'm more concerned about the last two scenarios which creates completely ridiculous courtiers.

More people probably play the first scenario, and don't want Byzantine courtiers with Turkish names... :D
What if they attach different dynasty files for different scenarios? If not, i was suggesting to add a few of the Turkish names. After all, the Byzantine court had some turkish courtiers and the Ottomans had greek/armenian courtiers (other than the converts).

Different dynasty files for different scenarios would of course be nice, and there seems to be game engine support for it (scenario files have an include line for dynasty file), but at the moment it's not working (all scenarios switch to standard dynasty file regardless).

Well, that's why we are discussing it in this subforum. I hope they fix it soon. :)

Is there anything new here?
