Hello!

We have now released Great Works and we hope you are as pleased with the result as we are. We are aware that there are a few issues here and there (Who knew Chalkidike was uninhabited right up until the 8th century?), but we have fixed many of these issues internally and will continue to do so. Also if you find any issues make sure to report them on the bug forum.

We’re not quite ready to announce when it will be out, but we are currently working on a bug fix patch. There will also hopefully be a few fun updates as well. Let us know which issues are bothering you the most as it can help us prioritize.

Have a great weekend and thank you for your feedback so far.

Hope we get further map graphics along with extra culture group UI graphics for all wonders for immersion sake. Although I love this new system, it doesn't quite sit right with me that a palace graphically looks the same for a European as well as an Indian or Middle Easterner. You know, it's those extra bits of dedication from the Devs that made us fall in love with Paradox.
That, and the stonehenge appearing as a palace threw me off a bit

I would love to see many additional historical Wonders added to the game. When you opened up the discussion, people gave you hundreds of candidates, and I feel like we have barely scratched the surface of worthwhile historical wonders that were already in the region at the time.

I know this would probably be way way down the list of priorities, but have you guys considered adding Great Cathedrals as an option for Pilgrimages, in the same vein as Saintly Burial Places?

They are supposed to be rare and adding many more would ruin that entirely. Most of the suggestions I've seen also aren't worthy of being in the game.

There's a number of balance changes that seem to have gone to the wayside as more and more bugs pop up in front of them. I don't expect to see it in the next patch, but in the patches going forward I really want to see these things adjusted:

  • Nomad power is still weird after the massive increase in counties.
  • Chinese war event troops are inflexible and spawn all at once in a massive attritionless stack that can instantly siege a ton of land before even separating.
  • China come in with the same massive stack if you're at war with them even if you're just trying to break free from the protectorate rather than invading china. Basically all wars are full scale with china.
  • Losing civil wars doesn't reset internal wars limiting options for changing them.
  • Imperial succession controlling cities is donked up because the only non imperial way to own cities is merchant republics.
  • Mercenaries should chill out on map like in Imperator Rome, maybe even have to walk to you from their location.
  • Egyptians, Copts, and Nubians should be able to build Pyramids as Lunatics or Hellenic/African Pagan.
  • Iceland should have an event to gain ship tech after norse settle there.
  • Nomads need a way to reclaim the title of their culture if the original is gone. (no more random named nomad empires)
  • Heresies need to pop up less randomly.
  • India and east africa can use some province rework as they're among the oldest untouched regions now.
  • Pagans need to have their CBs adjusted so they don't unify as fast in the 769 bookmark as in the 867 bookmark.
  • More map modes (look at the excellent extra map modes mod), and a way to add our own easier like in stellaris.

I wouldn't necessarily say I wanted many more, but a couple more would be good. As it stands, there's quite a few concentrated in one small corner of the world and it'd be great for there to be more further out.

I also wouldn't mind Historical Wonders that appear at later start dates. I was a little bit disappointed when I found out the Historical Wonders were the same in every start date.

Getting a "pillage all holdings" button as Nomads as a single click would be pretty nice.

It's a micro management nightmare if you're invading larger realms as a nomad, and trying to turn what you're taking all into pasture.

Byzantine emperors can only have landed commanders. However, there is an event where your marshal will occasionally find a talented military man to join your ranks. But the person in question is not landed and so does not automatically become a commander.

I later noticed that my election power dropped by 20, with the explanation "discharged competent commanders". Since I've never fired any commanders before, I assume what happened was that the talented recruit earlier cost me election points because he was disqualified from being a commander by not being landed.

Surely, this must be a bug.

The genetic bug should be fixed ASAP: I have already suspended my current game because it is game breaking for me...
Or at least you could open a Beta version with the fix...
However thank you for the nice free update!

There are a few bugs related to conversion that I reported last patch. There was a partial fix this patch which prevented some weird game overs but did not fix the issues related to the conversion triggers. The changes also introduced a new bug for Zoroastrians that wasn't present before. The main effect is that secret religions are mostly unusable by Christian and Zoroastrian characters. See the bug reports for details:

If anything this thread is proving that Great Works was unessecary at this time. I can't believe how many bugs and unoptimized things are currently in the game. The past 5 months should have been spent reading the bug forum and squashing them all.

The genetic inheritance bug alone renders the game unplayable right now as it negates the entire basis of the series - dynasty management and role playing. And some of the others issues that were reported the day HF was released and they still haven't been addressed, we'll there's just no excuse for that.

If you add too many historical wonders you'll just end up devaluing them. It's not really a big deal getting a wonder if there are hundreds of them in the world.

I personally think the ones in the game now (+ the planned Hagia Sophia) are fine and any future work from paradox should be focused on the custom ones built by the player/AI during the game. Seeing the Mongols build a grand temple to Tengri in their capital like in my last game is much more interesting to me than having dozens of unchanging wonders that are the same every game.

I wonder if your findings on these reports is also the reason for not being able to secretly convert to Nestorian as the Hindu ruler of the Mahoyadapuram holy site in 769? Here's that bug report: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...ahoyadapuram-holy-site.1150962/#post-25146658
