Hello!

We have now released Great Works and we hope you are as pleased with the result as we are. We are aware that there are a few issues here and there (Who knew Chalkidike was uninhabited right up until the 8th century?), but we have fixed many of these issues internally and will continue to do so. Also if you find any issues make sure to report them on the bug forum.

We’re not quite ready to announce when it will be out, but we are currently working on a bug fix patch. There will also hopefully be a few fun updates as well. Let us know which issues are bothering you the most as it can help us prioritize.

Have a great weekend and thank you for your feedback so far.

Rurik starts with 1000 gold, I am assuming this is not intentional.
Rurik was already a rich and well-respected man when he came to modern-day Russia.

can you looking into great works dropping performance. I had a problem that every time i opened the menu for the great work it would drop the fps to 4 and it was almost impossible to do anything.

I invited a lowborn courtier with a claim to a bishopric. I tried to marry him to someone but got a message saying that priests cannot marry.

Later, I invited a lowborn courtier with a strong claim to a city. I granted him a county (with a barony capital) and he became a mayor instead of a feudal lord. His holding type changed to merchant.

Both of these courtiers initially had their holding type listed as imperial (I'm the Byzantine emperor).

I don't recall running into this issue before the latest patch.

He was a landed priest who got his title taken away, that doesn't make him not a priest. Not a bug.

Same situation as above the government was already set for him as he already had been a mayor. Probably a bug really.

The government icon is meaningless for courtiers, it always shows what their host's government is.

I'm not sure if this has already been reported, but there's a bug that can occur when you try to go on a pilgrimage to the site of a Catholic saint (though this may apply to all religions - I'm no coder). At times it will lock you into the pilgrimage forever. My last character in my Scotland playthrough was on a pilgrimage for nearly fifty years until she finally gave up the ghost.

So first time post, I think there is a bug for "reformed pagans". Playing as an emperor of Scandinavia who also reformed the Norse religion, but for some reason the great library is not shown as an option, nor is the grand university (which I have the proper legalism and tolerance for).

Am I missing something or is this actually a bug?

Also the steward improve construction speed doesn't seem to affect the build time for wonders, although that could very well just be as intended.
Hellenism is the only pagan religion that can build them. Even unreformed.

Can we have a patch that ONLY focuses on bugs? I love new updates but a solid patch that only focuses on bugs is in order.

You know, when I first saw this thread, and its title, a part of me wanted to say, Less Filling...

And reining the Pope in a little please...

Just a friendly reminder to put bug reports in the bug report forum, if they get spread out we risk missing them.

If you can't see the bug report forum, you first need to register your game (connect to Steam) on your profile.

Are there plans to make an HRE formed in the earliest start not feudal elective?

I thought that had been the original plan. But if so, then it still hasn't been done yet.

These are the ones that bother me the most. Maybe are minor things but bug me quite a bit:

The Duchy of Franconia is elector of the HRE instead of the Rhine

Everyone except muslims is clean shaven after the XII century

The wrong "de Bourbon" Dynasty has the Coat of Arms of the Capetian House Bourbon

I am really enjoying the new update, but I have encountered one problem though.

I have captured Egypt after the Tulunids had built the Traps in the Great Pyramids in Khufu. Every time a new ruler takes the throne of my empire, the Traps activate again. This is annoying because I don't want 10 of family members or council members being killed each time I get a new ruler.

Please fix this, I quite like my sister-wife.

I built a pyramid with traps, then my king died and 9 out of my 10 kids were all killed by the traps. I thought it was just 1-2 courtiers that die, not my entire family. Anyone else have this problem?

9 out of 10? That's weird; the event looks like it's only supposed to pick two people, and that only about a tenth of the time on an ownership change.

I also suspect that it isn't supposed to trigger on inheritance, but instead on conquering.

Well it happened again. It triggers right after holding the funeral. And instead of running once with 2 deaths, it ran like 10 times with like 20 deaths wiping out almost the whole royal family. Put my empire into civil war and ultimately ended my game. And there is no way to remove the traps once built.

I went back to an autosave and didnt have a funeral and it ran 25 times wiping out all my whole dynasty. Quite funny actually.

Man, I guess I'm glad I never built those. Is it triggering multiple times on the same day, or staggered, again and again?

edit: Is it killing your current leader, so that a new one takes over and triggers it again? I think I can maybe see why it's happening every time instead of randomly, but I still don't know why it would happen multiple times.

No my main leader is fine. The event only targets courtiers which happens to be most my family. It's after the funeral (even if I hold no funeral) when the event triggers 25 times instantly.

I just tried it out again and see image for result.

I'm sorry for your misfortune in encountering such a horrific bug, but I gotta say it made my day lol very funny

Is there any word on when the first bug fix is out? I've been wanting to actually play with Great Works but because of the text bug, I can't. With a 4k monitor it's impossible to play unless you scale the UI which then causes all text on the Great Works screen to disappear.

Wait! I think I got it. Do you have a bunch of wonders, not just the one with the traps? Because the event is LT.60401, fired from on_wonder_owner_change; it will fire, I believe, once for each wonder that "changes hands" when a ruler dies. It should only actually do anything when it's firing for the wonder with the traps...but the trigger requirement within the event relies on "any_realm_wonder = { has_wonder_upgrade = upgrade_traps }" instead of checking the wonder that actually triggered it. So if you have ten wonders, only one of which has traps, every single one of them will cause the traps to go off.

25 wonders would be a lot, but it's the best explanation I've got at the moment.
