Hi folks!

Tomorrow is the release day for Monks and Mystics and, of course, the 2.7 patch - exciting times! Now, we've already covered the new features pretty well, so... how about a Q&A? Unleash your questions about everything CK!

(Oh, and don't miss the livestreams later today, 16:00 CET as usual!)

Are there any plans to include the Military Holy Orders to these societies, so that you also have a chance of joining them and do missions for them?

Also, you might not wanna tell, but how many different artifacts are there if you buy the DLC? Are we talking 20 or 200? Just curious...

Off of the top of my head, I think it is in the 50-100 range, though do note that a significant number are variations on the same idea. E.G., nicer versions of swords and such.

Crown of +3 Cha -I mean "Diplomacy"-

That's a tricky question to answer since much of the code base has also been heavily reworked. I think it's better to compare the features on release to where we are today.
I totally understand. Lines of code is not the best benchmark for how complex a program is, but I thought it might be something that could be dredged up without too much effort on your part.

I brought it up because you always see these gripe threads along the lines of "why does this game cost $200?!" that suggest that the poster doesn't understand how much blood and toil has gone into the game since its inception. Even those of us that appreciate CK2's DLC system probably still don't full grasp the scale of effort.

There are many things that could have been done better, of course. However, many of them would require fundamental changes to the game mechanics and would probably be better explored in a sequel.
Very well, then. At what point (feature-wise, no need for a time scale) would you consider CK II over and work on CK III? Or do you think it would be better to start CK III with a new team, while the old one finishes off CK II?

Will binding units to control groups (CTRL+#) finally be added into the game any time soon? It's been over 5 years and this standard feature in strategy games is still not in CK2.

Funnily enough, I think it was in CK1.

Do you think that CK2 suffers from complexity creep? What do you do design-wise to prevent (or slow) it?
To some extent, sure.
One way we try to address it is by adding Quality of Life functionality so as to present the players with the information they need, where they need it, and making interacting with the game in general simpler.

When King Arthur returns from Avalon.

Got an sms from Merlin, they are stuck in the traffic.. there is a inter-dimensional traffic jam due to an Unbidden invasion en route.. no rash so  .

  • Q1: Will there be any multiplayer-related balance and stability fixes? Large campaigns(20+ players) suffer from constant OOS.
  • Q2: How about playable theocracies? Playing a corrupt clerical dynasty and fighting for the Papal tiara sounds so good to me.
  • Q3: Will there be any naval improvements? At least basic naval combat would be an awesome addition.
  • Q4: How about map improvements? Some ppl may recognize me from EU4 forum where I advocated (sometimes in harsh manner) changes for Eastern Europe and Caucasus. In CK2 those regions also seem to be lacking.

We caught some out of syncs that are fixed in 1.7, but it's a problem that essentially can't be eliminated completely. I'm hopeful that OOSes will be somewhat rarer now though.

There was a dev diary about some map improvements coming in 1.7: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...ev-diary-40-visiting-the-cartographer.998368/

How many more DLC? Can you give us a hint about the next one?

I am not 100% sure what you mean here. In OOTP it's only the representation that changes, the relative values of the stats stay the same. It's harder for us in CK2 to do that since there's no theoretical upper limit to the values of stats.

Expanding on that, may we get a modding option allowing to hide opinion windows? So player would not be able to see what AI characters think about? This may lead to a highly unorthodox and interesting gameplay, I reckon.
