Things are getting busy at the office with the upcoming release of Europa Universalis IV, but as has been said before, we're still very much committed to the continued support and further expansion of Crusader Kings II. With Doomdark currently Down Under, Johan asked me to put together a short dev diary highlighting some of the current stuff we've been working on.

Patch 1.11:
1.11 will be deployed next week, and the new patch will include a few features that should make dealing with plots a bit easier. After hatching a plot, you can now tell the game to automatically invite all plotters who are willing to join your scheme. No more having to browse through the Potential Plotters list and individually sending requests to every single character who wants to join!

Also, you can now set the game to always demand that characters end their plots as soon as they come to your attention. Another handy addition is that you can now see at a glance which potential plotters can be won over to your side if they are bribed.

Among the other things added is a new Siege Leader trait (finally), a favorite IP table for the multiplayer menu and some additional support for modders.

Crusader Kings II to Europa Universalis IV Converter:
Johan already posted a dev diary about the Converter last week in the Europa Universalis IV forum, and there is an interview with Groogy here that goes into some more detail. I don't have much to add except that we're pretty pleased with the result and it actually works better than we had anticipated when development began.

Customizer:
This is a smaller DLC on the scale of the Ruler Designer, but it's something that many have asked for. It will give players an easy way to customize several items in their games when they are already well underway.

You can have your character pay a visit to the barber, where their hairstyle or facial hair can be altered... within reason (no bearded women, sorry). Below you can see the new look I gave King Charles II the Not-So-Bald:

You can rename any title held by you or your vassals:

Finally, if you feel the need to shake things up a bit, you can alter the name and shield of your dynasty:

Hopefully this will tide you over for a while, until we're ready to tell you more about what the future will bring to Crusader Kings II. :)

They already ban quite a few topics of discussion in the forum rules. I really think they should consider adding "DLC bitching" to the list. It gets awful tiring.

Yeah don't really mind that people state they don't like it but when it evolves into argument that takes several pages of a topic then it just seems stupid. I would rather see discussions of the DLC's themselves than how someone thinks they should be handled.

They did support the portrait packs and fix many errors with them, but the problem is that everyone who had the non-steam version had to re-download the packs for them to work. They also do support DLCs, look at all the tweaks they made to the Old Gods and other DLCs.
I'm looking and see broken west african attrition and byz sucession in specific circumstances. And the patch, which will propably (who knows) fix it, will be there only due to release of another dlc?
:(

There are some valid arguments here tho. I mean I'm gonna buy it anyway, but as someone already said they really should not leave the old DLC's collecting dust.

Honestly I think most of the complaints here are legitimate. Expecting to be able to use the ruler designer on a character in a pre-existing saved game is reasonable (and has been requested since a long time), and the title customisation feature is rather weak.

I can definitely understand why people are upset.

This happens everytime new DLC comes threads turn to some argument over DLC policy etc. Like it really matters that much.
Most other DLCs have been fine. Portrait and unit packs were iffy but they were still good at doing what they meant to do. This customiser has hardly any features. A few more and then it'd be ok, but at the moment it's way too bare.

So wait, there will be a patch that fixes your issues released for free alongside a DLC you don't have to buy? Sounds good to me. I don't understand what you're expecting. Should Paradox be releasing daily patches addressing everything on the bug forum?

Wow this all looks great!

Just wanted to suggest as well an "Educate Child" shortcut button would be incredibly useful, rather than having to go in via the Diplomacy menu.

Some of those convenience fixes are very welcome, indeed. Glad to see they're being patched in.

Regarding fixes... literally every time gavelkind succession hits an edge case, it breaks. Is this proving unexpectedly difficult to fix? Do you guys need more save files? I've been collecting pre-succ autosaves that document the myriad ways in which gavelkind breaks (sometimes loss of capital, usually destruction of titular titles). Note that running recalc_succ does nothing to fix this (if it even should?).

And also, are revolts, in fact, bugged? There used to be a -15% recently revolted modifier that no longer appears in the current patch -- is this WAD? I feel like certain players might end up having too much fun beating down 8 concurrent peasant revolts, which, upon being put down, immediately fire again within the next year.

The main things I'd like to see in patches and/or DLC are likely never going to be addressed- namely, rebalancing Mongols (first, by having the Ilkhanate form at a more correct time, circa 1250 or so, and second by changing the way they get reinforcements- honestly, at the moment, it's pointless to try to even interact with the Mongols, as when they spawn they are basically a giant "GAME OVER" for half of the map) and making Crusades sensible, ala Project Balance (with the creation of an independent realm, instead of an expansion of the Holy Roman Empire into Jerusalem). Both of these have been things that have been bugging the hell out of me forever, as I rarely prefer to play in Western Europe, and so can't write them off as aesthetic problems. Mongols don't really work, and Crusades don't work in a way that is reasonable, but I'm not holding my breath.

I really need as a feature, the ability to sort in the character finder by which people will actually join my court if asked. Simple thing, but would save tons of time.

The problem is, that there was a lot of bugs reported by players, who got ignored during for example last patch.
Instead of fixing game breaking bugs, they decided to fix aztec building for example etc.

I don't have any confidence that gamebreaking stuff will be actually fixed.

Eventually... Because buldings are easier to locate and fix? It's not allways easy to found the reason for a bug. They first must find it and the fix it someway.

Great, so basically the new patch will probably be released alongside the EU IV

It gives me the general idea of how Paradox seems to be working hard to sort of synchronize its games in such a way, that all of them if combined create ultimate one mega history sandbox experience. If this is where Pdx is going to, I see Victoria 3 or Rome 2 as an ultimate next step in developing such a framework. Then 'clinching` all the games through a converter series.

Am I wrong, paradox?

Who cares, it's (probably) only 99 cents! :p

Yeah. You're wrong. EUIV would have a population system if they planned an easy conversion to Victoria 3.

Why is everyone keep talking about a Victoria 3 when the second iteration is NOT yet in its end of life (considering that EU3 and HOI3 had MORE DLCs and that next year is the 100th anniversary of the First World War). Victoria 2 has still a lot to give and we can expect a DLC with a starting date somewhere near the events that lead to the First World War with much attention and scripted events for that very conflict, including extra custom mechanics to abstract the dynastic and militaristic competitions.

Indeed I agree that a Rome 2 (with an expansion to the Dark Ages) is need to have an epic scale story from ancient times till the Cold War.
