Things are getting busy at the office with the upcoming release of Europa Universalis IV, but as has been said before, we're still very much committed to the continued support and further expansion of Crusader Kings II. With Doomdark currently Down Under, Johan asked me to put together a short dev diary highlighting some of the current stuff we've been working on.

Patch 1.11:
1.11 will be deployed next week, and the new patch will include a few features that should make dealing with plots a bit easier. After hatching a plot, you can now tell the game to automatically invite all plotters who are willing to join your scheme. No more having to browse through the Potential Plotters list and individually sending requests to every single character who wants to join!

Also, you can now set the game to always demand that characters end their plots as soon as they come to your attention. Another handy addition is that you can now see at a glance which potential plotters can be won over to your side if they are bribed.

Among the other things added is a new Siege Leader trait (finally), a favorite IP table for the multiplayer menu and some additional support for modders.

Crusader Kings II to Europa Universalis IV Converter:
Johan already posted a dev diary about the Converter last week in the Europa Universalis IV forum, and there is an interview with Groogy here that goes into some more detail. I don't have much to add except that we're pretty pleased with the result and it actually works better than we had anticipated when development began.

Customizer:
This is a smaller DLC on the scale of the Ruler Designer, but it's something that many have asked for. It will give players an easy way to customize several items in their games when they are already well underway.

You can have your character pay a visit to the barber, where their hairstyle or facial hair can be altered... within reason (no bearded women, sorry). Below you can see the new look I gave King Charles II the Not-So-Bald:

You can rename any title held by you or your vassals:

Finally, if you feel the need to shake things up a bit, you can alter the name and shield of your dynasty:

Hopefully this will tide you over for a while, until we're ready to tell you more about what the future will bring to Crusader Kings II. :)

So if I'm England and I want to essentially create a vassalized Ireland without becoming emperor, I can rename one of the duchies to "Ireland" and transfer that duke all of the proper counts and basically have a Duke of Ireland, Duke of Scotland etc?

Soo does this new patch include 1.11 come with the customizer?
And will the invite all to plot button be included with the patch or DLC if soo?

Improvements to existing game mechanics/UI streamlining have always been included for free in the patches.

Obviously the Customizer DLC will be sold separately, though according to Steam, it'll retail at a very reasonable 20.00 USD.

That's really fucking awesome, can't wait. Can you also change the actual title? Like if I am going to create a super duchy of Ireland, can I change it's title from "Duke of Ireland" to like.... "Lord of Ireland" or "Lord Paramount of Ireland" or something? Or can you only change the name of the title, not the title itself?

But why would a female ruler want to marry someone in a regular marriage and have their dynasty lose their kingdom?

Because its completely ahistorical if every female ruler got their children to keep their dynasty. I want to see Eleanor of Aquitaine's in this game and I don't want to see the Jimena family still rullling in Iberia after 200 years because of overuse of matrilineal marriages.

Only through modding the titles localisation file. But you never know, maybe the next patch will fix this problem and allow us to rename honorary and landed titles.

That would be awesome if it was possible. I could change the titles and names to have different Roman provinces in my empire instead of the vanilla oddly shaped duchies. It isn't though but it would probably get me to buy it if it were in.

I don't know if it's been asked, but since it's important if you want to for instance rename something "Western Roman Empire", will there be a way of indicating that it's a short title? i.e. "Western Roman Empire" instead of "Empire of Western Rome" or "Empire of Western Roman Empire". It just wouldn't sound right another way. It would be awesome if beneath the "name , adjective" box there was a button for "use short name". Then we can have cool stuff like "Johan's Empire" instead of the boring old "Empire of Johan." :D

+1

Females did not ever carry on the dynasty. They and their descendants would take the name of the husband and father, no matter what class of nobility they held (and queens would not marry lowborns under any circumstances).

This is actually how Plantagenet replaced de Normandie.

I think there are at least a few cases of the mother's dynasty name being carried on (I think the Hapsburgs did it or something).

And my queens certainly wouldn't marry as many lowborns (and members of their own dynasty) if the male nobility (especially at the lower levels of nobility) would occasionally eat their pride and accept marrying into a dynasty that's more than ten times more prestigious than their own instead of flatly refusing because their pa owns a shack that he insists on calling a castle. The reason that landed women mostly marry lowborns in game is because landed men adamantly refuse to accept a marriage that's favorable to the other party, even if it would net them a much needed alliance and/or a huge mountain of prestige. And the women seek the favorable marriage presumably mostly to keep it from being so easy to paint the dynasty map your color.

I often see queens and duchesses marry kings and dukes, or even the unlanded sons of kings or dukes. I don't think the AI using matrilineal marriage is that much of a problem.

Can't read 16 pages of stuff so forgive me if it's been covered, but does the customiser allow for changing of character names? So we no longer have to worry about your AI controlled characters naming your future heir "Gerald", or something equally unkingly?
