I will definatly keep my eye on this and see where it goes, and how you choose to update it, and of course try it out, whenever the patch is released...

What do you mean? This probably works with all versions available through Steam, including pre 2.1.1 patches.

Yeah, but I am waiting on a proper patch to come out before I start a new game - the BETA I only used to test the new RoI with, but I don't want to start something big up, that could be fixed in a matter of days with a new patch… :)

Ah, I see. Well, I'd love to get some feedback when the next patch releases.

Is this compatible with HIP/VIET?

Going to try it either way, but as I use VIET almost exclusively this would be great.

It should work fine. Let me know if you have any problems.

Updated.

1.08
* Added patron deities for Tengri characters
* Made AI more likely to take a patron
* Added modifiers for piety and traits
* Disabled decision for unlanded characters
* Disabled decision for infirm or possessed characters

Hopefully people can get Steam Workshop working now too.

Well, after having tried it out, I think it works really well - adds some flavour...

And every AI ruler gets a patron now - But perhaps they should not "all" have one. How about those who are Cynical or Wroth or Cruel or a similar trait don't get a patron? Would that be possible? Or perhaps it could be turned around, so that only Zealous or Chaste or Temperate rulers get a patron? That would actually be very nice I think...

I also noticed that the Baltic religion had Romuva Patrons, is that intended? I don't know A THING about those religions, I just wondered if they were 2 seperate religions or more of the same?

But great job all in all :)

There are modifiers to increase the likelihood of zealous characters getting the trait, and decrease the likelihood that cynical ones do, but it probably needs more tweaking. I will also add more modifiers, like chaste and temperate, as you mentioned (maybe next update).

Romuva is the religion name for Baltic pagan characters. Think of it like Christian being the name of the religion, not the culture or geographic location.

Thanks for trying it out, and thanks for the suggestions.

Ok, thanks for clearing out the Baltic/Romuva question, makes sense...
And yes, it might be good to look at the modifiers again, cause in my game EVERY ruler has a patron, no matter their traits sadly...

Found two other things, and thought I would report them...
- I saw an AI-character with both a christian and a pagan patron, he might have changed religion. Don't know if the first patron could be removed, when they switch religion?
- A minor text-thing, with a spacing before the word Jumala is needed. A small thing I know, but could just as well mention it...

Yeah, that will be when a character switches religion. I will work on that when I get chance, but I'm not sure how soon it will be.

Thanks, fixed.

Updated.

1.09
* Added patron deities for Aztec characters
* Added an event that lets you reselect patron later in life
* Cleared modifiers when a characters converts to another religion
* Made AI less likely to take a patron
* Fixed localisation errors

Not tested this thoroughly, but I don't expect problems. Steam Workshop update will come soon, but it's a bit slow right now.

Might I suggest also allowing Christian rulers to choose Jesus Christ as their patron, forgoing the saints for the Savior? That could drastically increase Piety or even conversion rates.

Zammy, Saint Nicholas should totally make you more fertile and give an increased Opinion boost for gifts.

I'm not sure. I'd like to, but the appropriate saints of many branches of Christianity and it's heresies will be hard to research. On top of that, I can't decide whether to do it that way, or to do it by culture (which is also very important). If I do both, it's going to get very complicated.

Because of the butterfly effect et cetera, I would not include any saints who lived during or after 867. Just include important Early Church fathers and disciples.

Updated.

1.10
* Added three more patron saints for Christian characters
* Fixed patron reselection event so that it only fires once per ruler

The Virgin Mary, Thomas the Apostle, and John Chrysostom have been added for Christians. The event that allows patron reselection has not been tested, but I don't expect problems - let me know if there are any.

Just came across this, while looking into EU IV Wealth of Nations (a similar feature is being introduced for the hindu religion there).

Thank you very much for this, most excellent!
