How do I give cities I am holding so that they go to a republic type vassal and pay taxes. When I click 'Grant to Low Noble' it gives the city to the wrong vassal type and I get no taxes from it.

I am a clan-based government that has just entered early medieval stage

Is anyone able to answer this? The more I'm playing the more of my cities that started the game with republic vassals are being inherited by me and then don't give any income. Causing me to lose lots of money

Can anyone answer my earlier question or has experienced the same thing? Renaming Byzantium turns it into "Empire of the [whatever you changed the name to]". Bug or am I missing a toggle???

Started a game as Montaigu in 867. There are 3 Baronies in this county, 2 without any Holdings. I want to build a city in one of them but I am unable to. I can click on the Construct new Holding button and when the next screen pops up, the 3 options are grayed out. It appears I meet the requirements to build a city or temple, ie I have the 500 gold and I don't see any other requirements.
Turns out I need City Planning researched and I don't.

My daugther, a vassel of one of my vassels, were imprisoned by a weaker king as i. How can i buy out my daughter? I don't like to see her sit in a dungeon. I mean, what kind of King wouldn't pay or fight for his child? I don't want to switch the charakters and cheat ...

The only correct thing to do here would be to seduce his wife and sire a daughter, and imprison THAT daughter

Not sure this is it, but you can negotiate with your vassals to determine how much they pay.
let me clarify, the problem is that the vassal the city goes to isn't the correct type.
Cities require republic vassals to get taxes. When I give the city away to low noble it gives it to a standard vassal type that can hold castles, so I do not get taxes.
I just played as Mercia 1060 start and I could build a city and it went to the correct vassal type I can only assume this is either a result of being clan-based government instead of feudal or because of cultural technologies.

I just lost Dynasty Head status when my ruler died. His son has the new head as a vassal, he got more prestige but less piety. Also he is a lot more powerful in terms of money and troops. I wanted to ask what determines who is chosen as Dynasty Head? Only other reason I can see is that my rival has combined prestige and piety higher than me.

EDIT: I just got it back, but dont even know how.

PS Is chancellor domestic affairs even work? I have direct vassal opinion 0 and it says it will grow 0.43 monthly but it stays on 0 all the time.

My ruler had an alliance with a duke through betrothing him to his granddaughter.
My ruler died and now I'm playing as his son, so the betrothed child is now my daughter.
My daughter has the alliance but I do not.
Is this intended behaviour? I don't remember if it worked like this in CK2.

Dunno if this has been asked yet... but how do i raise levies/ men-at-arms individually? Sure I can use the 'raise all' button... but if I only wanna raise say... my men-at-arms... I don't see a button for that anywhere.

On a related note, how do i raise my vassal's levies? Even when I raise all, nothing spawns on them.

This is my question also. Seems like no one knows right now. My grandnephew had lower prestige, lower piety, was younger than me, AND had fewer titles but was appointed as dynasty head instead of me. Really? How exactly is it selected then???

Maybe it goes down through the "main" branch of the dynasty, over higher ranking people in other branches? I dont know.

Is there a way to generate(create) vassals of our culture/religion for empty holdings as in CK2?

I started a game with Hastein and attacked King of West Francia for the Kingdom. Captured him in about 10 days and hence finished the war. Now, I'm sitting on 48 holdings.

You can give spare holdings (press the button "give to a lesser noble" ot smth in thel holding view. And if you are talking about new count-tier and above vasslas then there is no way to just create characters of your religion and culture like in CK2. And there is a bug with cities when they are given to nobles instead of mayors and they recieve debuffs of vrong holding type (even from the very beginning of the game).

Hey, I got a semi-related question: how do I make it so the ai can't recruit certain types of regiments? I tried putting interval checks, ai_will_do's and so on into the code lines of some regiments, still the ai can recruit them which is frustrating. want to make a mod of my own making with special, player-only recruitable units but while I'm proficient altering other files to my liking that's something I just don't seem to get right. any help would be massively appreciated

edit----sry wrong subforum, still, can anyone help me?^^
