Lots of fighting still going on elsewhere in the galaxy, much of it using five-second increments.

... the Swarm uses exclusively Meson Cannon, which fire on five-second increments.

So it's entirely possible that some moron has set off the Swarm.

Luckily we are MUCH better placed to handle them now than we were twenty years ago.

We haven't explored a lot yet though, this could still easily be 3-4 jumps away

More Grinders come off the ways. Over 250 of them deployed, now.

These ones will go to a Gallicite-rich comet in 25 Ursae Minoris.

That brings us up to the end of December, 2007.

Sixty years, exactly.

May the NEXT 60 years be as successful!

How old is commander Happycat? Is it time to look at a junior, maybe specializing in stealth and snagging one of those ELINT ships? The plan is to send them to the Galapagonians eventually, right?

Happycat the First is eighty-six (!) and nearly dead. I think the ship might be controlled by one of those brain-in-a-jar things.

I can certainly reserve an ELINT ship for you. We haven't laid any down yet, because the shipyard isn't quite ready.

We have both passive sensor Spy class and active sensor Agent class already in construction. Provocateur class ELINT ships are planned as soon as a shipyard becomes available.

I had previously requested one of those Provocateur class ships as well, but I didn't realize there were spy ships already in construction. May I volunteer to take the Agent class ship with the active sensors? If I remember correctly from your earlier explanation, that'd be the ship that sneaks into a system and then lights up like a beacon to see what it can see but also BE seen by everyone else around... and that sounds like FUN! (In the Dwarf Fortress style of "fun," haha)

I salute your bravery, sir.
Does this game have a 'running away' stat?

The first four General class Gunships have been launched, joining a set of four Quality class Light Cruisers and a set of four Mountain class Gunship Tenders.

Sure.

I've given you a speed of 9,231 kps, so hopefully you can flash them and then streak away.

People can always switch from one ship to another as new construction comes off the ways.

I salute your bravery, sir.

I'm not sure whether "Reaction" or "Tactical" is the running away stat. I would expect it to be Reaction.

Perhaps there is a personality trait that fits, instead?

Four more Whetstone class FAC Colliers... and Research Rate 500!

Each of our Labs is now researching five times as fast as at game start... and we are running 180 Labs instead of the 41 we started with. And of course, our Scientists are now far more skilled and have higher multipliers.

We are up over 2,200 maintenance facilities on Earth, with an annual production rate of 317,000 repair parts per year, with 32,000 tons of Gallicite (and 32,000 tons of Duranium, and 16,000 tons of Uridium) consumed annually in their manufacture... and our on-hand stockpile of repair parts is still slowly dropping.

Need more Gallicite...

Yeah once a Provocateur rolls off the line put me out to pasture and let my junior take one.

You are 74 and very ill.
Who are the available scientists right now? (I saw an interesting one before, but that's several pages ago now)

Only Wagonlitz and SteveZAX have Scientists claimed.
I had to hunt it down anyway, since I forgot to ask for these details:

We have a 32-year-old Sensors tech in good health and +40% bonus (+160% for Sensors). Currently researching ELINT (Electronic Spying).

We have a 31-year-old Defensive Systems tech in Excellent health and a +35% bonus (+140% for Defensive Systems). Researching Improved Damage Control.

The (then 31 y.o.) seems like they should live longer, but I'll snag the sensors tech as Nikolai III to be a bit involved in the Precursor Dipping Business please (Nikolai II might as well drag on with his mission, he should retire naturally soon enough)

For a star system containing no planets, 25 Ursae Minoris is a busy place. We have a Naval Base and a Sabre squadron on one comet and have large-scale mining operations going on four of the comets, with a couple more planned.

Naturally all of the mining sites are guarded by STO, as well as the star system's Sabre Squadron.
