Exciting!

How fast does the fleet end up going? I presume you've set them all to the same speed to keep formation?
Where did you put the PD gunships?

Almost all of the PD-capable vessels are in the Matador's Cloak formation. That's the only one that will approach into missile range, at first.

All the ships that are slower than 8,000 kps have been pulled out into the Carrier formation.

I'll be using the Carriers as an "offensive pivot" anyway, so it's no great handicap if they're somewhat slower than the other formations.

The enemy Red 2 force is 1.2 billion km from the Combined Fleet, and is drawing further away at a rate of another 5,600 km each second.

But since they are apparently just swanning back and forth while we are advancing, we'll close in quite a bit after the turn-around.

Notice that as soon as his engines went off, I lost track of nine of the fifteen ships, even though he is still well within RADAR range (TCS = exact tonnage figures).

That's because eleven of the fifteen enemy ships are equipped with sensor jammers that affect RADAR.

Two of those eleven are spoiling their stealth by using their own RADARs (GPS = 58,000+), so the remaining nine are effectively stealthed.

He's heading back toward the jump point!

Of course, he's just swanning back and forth.

But each time he turns toward the jump point, the seperation from the Matador's Cloak force will decrease rapidly because the two opponents are headed toward each other, head-on. The velocities will be added. And each time he turns away, he will pull away from us slowly, because the velocities will be subtracted.

We'll run him down, even if he refuses combat.

Nice.
Waa his stop longer than usual?
As in could it be he tried something?

What's that?

A relatively slow-moving center-of-mass that the faster forces can move past or around, in order to attack the enemy.

Think of the hinge of a door.

The hinge hardly moves at all, while the "faster" parts of the door swing wide around it.

The enemy Red 2 force is now 1.17 billion km from our Main Body.

Closing at a combined speed of over 22,000 kps (their 13,600 kps plus our 8,500 kps).

Now less than 800 million km seperates the enemy Red 2 force from our Main Body (also known as the Matador's Cloak).

Now less than 700 million km.

I've stopped the advance of the main body for a few hours to allow the slower Carrier force to catch up a bit.

FYI our Carrier force is about 650 million km from the enemy. We'll want to be a lot closer than that before launching a strike.

We'll be under missile fire in a couple of hours.

So thar offensive pivot won't be used for attacks, but rather be where offensive actions originate at?

Here's hoping we can steal a Sathe for the gun.

This he has seen us yet?
Also, the main body is not that offensive pivot?

The Carrier Force will support the attack with long range Fighter strikes.

Nice!

It would be my favorite target, yes.

This he has seen us yet?

No way to tell.

I would certainly expect so.

Also, the main body is not that offensive pivot?

The Main Body is the PD force that will be advancing into his range.

The offensive pivot is the slowest-moving support force... the Carriers.

The enemy is now 391 million km from the Main Body, and 478 million km from the Carriers.

Time to think about launching a Fighter strike.

Unfortunately, in our push for squeezing out every possible kps of Speed, we short-suited many of our Fighter models on Range.

We'll need to get closer.

Now 335 million km apart.

I'll try to get back into this later today.

It'll be interesting to see how well our PD fire holds up against a full-up 140-missile salvo.
