Half a million km.

The secondary armament (!) already does 6 damage per hit, at 507,000 km.

A cycle time of 25 seconds.

Our main armaments can't even open fire at that distance.

At a range of 430,000 km, the Sarthe nails the ESN Radiant Joy with its Spinal Laser main armament.

Nice shootin', Tex!

24 points of shield damage, shields now at 92%.

We've done 16 points of Armor damage to the Sarthe.

Those lasers of them would have been a serious issue if we didn't have shields.
Any idea how many armor layers the Sarthe has?

Our first main armament salvo (at maximum range, 480,000 km) only scored two hits, but our second salvo fifteen seconds later scored eleven more.

Now 53 armor damage to the Sarthe.

... and we are just now coming into range of our secondary (light Laser) armament.

Of course you can take your time here. Every hit is a chance to kill an engine at this range so it's a good idea to limit yourself to one shot per 5 second increment to minimize collateral damage.

Three more shield hits on the ESN Radiant Joy drops the shield to 86%.

94 damage for that main laser. You really don't want to get to point blank range for that.

The secondaries are every bit as dangerous.

There are five of them, and they cycle more quickly.

If he wasn't shooting back...

If he wasn't shooting back...

Just drop back a while, let the shields recharge, and then move back in. In fact only the Joy needs to do that, the rest of them are fully charged right?

Our first penetration on the Sarthe!

That means that we have blasted a hole in the armor for the Marines to enter.

Fifteen more hits on the Sarthe, two of them penetrating.

These hits are just from secondaries, one or two points per hit.

He's still making full speed.

I want to seperate the Sarthe from the Red 2 point defense (by changing his speed with damage) before we back off and call the Marines.

Sensible and necessary. Especially if that means he drops outside the active sensor coverage and therefore can no longer fire on our ships.

39 more points of damage to ESN Radiant Joy's shield, dropping it to 72%.

Our return fire finally hits an engine... and the engine explodes for 224 points, blowing the Sarthe to bits.

With a apologies for the timing of my reply,

Mmmmno, hummers have these amazing dive patterns.

Yeah, they’re swimming around like domesticated swans in a children’s tv show. :p

Or a blue emu whose apartment has been flooded? ;)

:D
Apparently emu love to swim and prefer being wet to dry lol. Did the emu cause the flooded apartment? Interesting factoid, a group of emu isn't a "flock", it's a "mob". Makes you wonder ;)

Crud. This is one of the main reasons why capturing ships intact is hard. Odds of them surviving the attempts to cripple them are not quite as high as we'd like.

So, try for another one I guess. One of the missile ships?

A Vosges should have SOME of the Laser techs... power systems tech, capacitor tech, wavelength tech... it just won't have the aperture tech that the Sarthe would have given us.

We've immobilized one of the Vosges Laser PD ships!

We'll send in the Marines to board it.

This will take a few hours, though.

We've wrecked one Vosges and immobilized another.

The immobilized Laser PD ship will be captured by Marines, who will arrive in about 3 hours and 20 minutes.

Our Gunships have side-slipped to port to avoid getting too close to the PD ship, whose weapons are still active.

Now shooting at the Gards.

... and we immobilize the third Vosges, as well! Another one for capture!

One destroyed and two immobilized.

Do we really need more of their missile tech? We'll be recovering a lot of it anyway from the wrecks of all these missile ships.

It was their Laser tech (and their Engine tech, and RADAR tech, and Fire Control tech, etc) that really sparked my interest.
