That's a recipe for Mamluks...
Or Imperial Roman legions. The problem is a future one, and as long as the ship crews (and STO crews) are human, it'll be a very localized one anyway.

Will the Sabres need R&R, spare parts?

They have a spare parts Tender as an integral part of the Sabre squadron (the Whetstone II).

They'll need R&R, yes.

I'm sending a Mountain class small craft Tender, with a 12,000-ton Hangar Deck.

They can rest inside it.

Six 2,000-ton Sabres will JUST fit.

OK, now that we've come up for air... what other measures should we take?

I don't really want to start a big production run of new ships, ground troops and STO until after we absorb the xeno-technology from all those wrecks.

I can build us a bunch more wreckers... and some replacement Freighters...

There's one of those Mayenne scouts.

We could probably nail that with Fighters the next time it pops up there.

Our most recent model of Fighter (the X-Wing VII) has the range to strike that jump point from their current post.

I'll send a detachment of a dozen Fighters including an AWACS.

I understand we are concerned about a potential new threat, the Bork. What is our assessment of their capabilities? I am concerned that waiting to absorb new technology could be a critical delay.

Their ships are somewhat slower than the Modrons.

Other than that it's hard to estimate their capabilities.

We haven't seen them fire any weapons.

The surrendered Creuse Freighter has picked up life-pods containing 60 Modron survivors already, and is now ordered to pick up several more life-pods.

Can I nominate a piece of a quote taken out of context for POTM?

A Forum member once quoted me saying "I don't know" in his signature.

The Mayenne pops in again!

Can we nail it before it recovers from jump shock and pops out again?

... has got its drive working again.

The Fleet is assembled at planet Harmony.

Do we want to wait for the Tankers and Tenders, and get all our ducks in a row before heading for the Modron home star system?

... or should we knock out those shipyards right now, and refresh ourselves afterward?

Nobody is below 75% in anything except AMM-PD missiles. Those, we've used about half.

No harm in it, surely!

I’d be inclined to get all our ducks in a row as we don’t know what’s waiting for us, do we? They could autogenerate a defensive fleet, couldn’t they?

I want to get to the Bork asap but getting parts of our fleet wasted wouldn’t help us any.

But I’ve never played this game and cannot remember the details you provide us, so my opinion is worthless! :D

Can they get any shore leave yet or is the population still too low? Considering likely STOs planetside, restocking is probably a good idea. Unless we are going to sit out of range and destroy the shipyards with missiles

Still, I don't think it's worth even risking.
Human soldiers should he preferred.

How fast are the wreckers in salvaging a wreck?

Sadly not, iirc.
Pretty sure it's a whole post that must be quoted.
But nothing prohibits posting a new post with the part wanting to be nominated.

I say go for it, unless tenders are close.

What do we expect to gain from the xeno technology? I thought we expected the big prizes to be engines, in which case there is little point to delaying the stuff which won’t use engines is there?

How long would a round of shipyard expansions take? That could function as an always useful place holder that could be justified in the narrative as preparing to handle an expected flood of repairs etc?

Alternatively, even current engined Phalanx or Hoplites would be useful.

Would they though, if they'd be bogged down compared faster variants later on.
Albeit, if there's nothing else to build and it's better to always build, than Stadhampton minerals, then I guess it coupe make sense.
