AFAIK there will be a third Beta first, so I'd be highly surprised if there would be an ETA for the release of the official patch...

This may be WAD or a bug - I really don't know:
In combat while viewing the combat modifiers I see an "out of supply" modifier for each and every unit. This seems to increase if the units looses org and if the province was just captured before.
Wasn't this supposed to be supply efficiency or supply distance in older AoD versions?

It's WAD. It's not "Out of Supply" but "Lack of supply" and scales with how low the supply stockpile of a division is. It's always present, neglijible when the supply stockpile is high.

hey radu, why is lowering Soviet GDE " particularly ugly hack" ? Doesn't low GDE reflect low fighting efficiency of Red Army which is historically correct. I didn't understand the need to transfer russian handicap from low GDE to low morale.

GDE is a very basic value. Modifying GDE for just a nation is like modifying the efficiency of 1 Soft Attack point or 1 Defensiveness point. It's like saying for "Nation X, E = m*c^10".

When you have a set of basic constants that make up the context of the game, and you need to give, to a particular nation, a value vastly different from everybody else, that's called hacking your own system. It also means the system is bad if it needs to be hacked in the first place.

Furthermore, the Red Army's poor performance early in the war with Germany was during counter-attacks, not defending. In fact, the Red Army was quite adept in tenaciously holding ground, even when encircled ( not that it requires much talent to just sit in a trench mind you ).

So not only is GDE a hack, it's the wrong hack. Attack, not defense should have been penalized.

And lastly, the Red Army, even with the purges, was hardly the worst army out there. Exactly why only USSR had to have a GDE value that was 4 times lower than everybody else's...

So this "exception" had to go for a long time. Replacing it with "morale" ( read "Re-Org rate", actual morale has nothing to do with how quickly a unit re-orgs and everything to do with leadership flexibility and logistics ) is the natural step, as is including Organization in the penalty.

Why will there be another beta release, given that there have already been an alpha and two betas? I have not played 106B2, but 106B1 seemed to run fine. The 1.05 version with AI spamming infrastructure is basically broken, so it seems like the Devs would want to get an official patch out as soon as practical.

To make sure we dont get a new "broken feature situation that is detected a long time after the betas ended and where released as public" ;)

So basically now the iron rule is: DONT RELEASE ANYTHING THAT HAS BEEN EDITED UNLESS IT HAS BEEN THROUGH BETA TESTING, AND THEN TESTED AGAIN :D

It takes weeks before we start getting the real issues on the table, and as such we should rather make 1 beta too many than 1 too little ;)

will it then be possibel to add in some of the small suggestions I have sent you? if there is time for it. :)

i have send quite some lists to radu and many are included for B2 IIRC.
however it would be better to make 1 file with 50 new pics instead of giving me 50 pms with 1 image each ;)

I have one rar file with 50 pics/csv 100% updated. all pic are in correct format interested ?

if they are 100% working and bugfree, then send them to radu as he is currently the main rope holder on 106.

I am having trouble enough keeping my pm count smaller than max ;)

From what I recal they are working 99% and is bugfree from crash to desctop. I will contact Radu later this week.

Thanks

Hello the Dev-team boys,

I had a couple of game with beta 2 up to Jan. '41 and I should say I'm quite happy with what I saw.
I had only 2 random CTD and 1 freeze but they where not reproductible....so that's ok for me.

All the mains battlefront went on acceptable terms, Japan is stalemated in China after an initial advance, SU had no particuliar trouble to crush Finnland after being hold for a couple of monthes...& so on.

Neverless there is still ONE problem which we all know cause is an old one:

UK fails to defend its own home-beaches and of course this is due to the emphasys it put in the struggle for defending northern africa and palestina from the Italian offensive, it has to commit all of its home & indian divisions to keep that front.

Now, on the other hand, I've observed that Italy, even while committing all of its forces to the libyan front, all of italian's cores beaches + egean isles + albania are guarded by 1 GAR (all of them are brigaded with AA).

So just to put it simple & straight, can you just set ENG AI in a way she reproduce ITA AI behaviours ? ( i.e. producing GAR and keep them home)

On an more  tone, I saw Nov. '40 GER landing 5 divisions in Massaua beyond the english lines.
Yes they circum-navigated Africa with 9 ships (8 Tra + 1 DD) 2 were sunked...
I'm quite ok with this AI behaviour ( even if ship-range limit fails to grasp that allied ports (italians) are blocked by Suez in enemy hand) because I consider it a minor one and it put some "pressure" on me (human player) cause I know AI can make crazy landing :D anywhere

What I really dislike is that in that very moment England beaches were unguarded (2 div in all of UK) and GER doesn't attempt any landing.... while mounting an operation at 5000 km / 1 month navigation away from their home port !!!!

Anyway keep up the good job, as I said in other post this game is becoming little by little a masterpiece
Chapeau messieurs !

I don't know if my post is usefull, because i don't have much time to play, so my game with USSR beginn with 106alpha X (I don't remember, sorry) and is ending now with 106 beta 2), but what I can see when I launch my saves games with Jap, Ger or USA, is that IA is not updating his production.
who will build CV2 when CV3 is available ? even if it takes 30 days more ???
I have seen Japan building CV2 when CV5 are available ! I know it will take 90 days more, witch can be very long if you need your navy, but it worth it I guess,
same observations with air unit or infantry
for me IA should always update production when available, this is what a human will do in 90% scenaris.
maybee we could make an exception if IC is less than X% of "normal IC" (to manage country with a very critical situation, with a big need of immediate unit)

Hello there,

I've been playing some 18 monthes more, so here my findings....

As expected as soon as ITA AI engage itself in Balkans (Yougoslavia & Greece) UK can take the upper hand in North Africa Front and finally UK home-beaches are properly guarded by a balanced amount of divisions.
I stay convinced that putting some Garrisons in building preferences for ENG '39-'41 AI it will be usefull & i will give it a tray myself in future.

Barbarossa was a total failure ! GER can't advance more than 1 province-depth in 2 monthes fight, finally reaching 2 province-depth in October '41 and stalling there !
I can't properly explain this and one single game isn't statistically signifiant, but as some other players already reported it I strongly suspect that 'Yougoslavian pocket' is partly responsable for this.
In my own case, after the creation of Croatia, there were 24 GER divisions 'trapped' in german balkans 12 of which were Arm or LArm !!!
So I humbly suggest:

A) To scrap the Croatia creation event as the contribution of this nation to WWII is almost insignifiant. (please not offense intended)

B) Give to Croatia all of the former Yougoslavian provinces, while giving her 'Cores' only for the historical crotians ones (which are NOT the ones presently implemented). *
Then 1-2 monthes later a new event will fire where Crotia will choose to give back the provinces you think should be given to GER and ITA...

C) After YOU annexation & partition waiting for the creation of CRO about 1-2 monthes OR 1-2 weeks after Barbarossa fired to let GER invasion forces time to leave the area.

* (imho CRO should get 4 more provinces: Rijeka, BanjaLuka, Sarajevo, Mostar and ITA only 2: Split and Dubrovnic)
Hopely this should let GER divisions leaving the freshly conquered territories while retaining the Partisan effect.

Thoughts, comments, bored, pissed ? :D

Oh btw JAP is performing REALLY bad against Allies...

Hope these reports can help you someway, if you have any specific figure you wish to know just tell me.

Best regards.

EDIT: Added one suggestion for 'Yougoslavian pocket' solution

To whoever is willing to help :

For Beta3 we have reformatting "event commands.txt" on the to-do list.

Naturally this is a boring, time consuming and thankless task. So if there are any modding-savvy masochists out there that have some hours to kill, PM me.

This isn't exactly urgent, but it is on the to-do list. Beta3 aint leaving the drydock without a reformatted "event commands.txt".

P.S. : Of course, you will be credited in the changelog and file for your work.
P.S.S : First come,first served.

EDIT : We've picked our man. Thanks for your interest.

Well we're running our own public CORE Beta with the current 1.06 Beta patch, so I reckon it's stable enough. ;)
