CTD's:

Well got my first CTD with 1.01. Will see if it's a consistent one or not. WIll know soon. I've had consistent CTD's with 1.0 (meaning it owuld always happen at a certain point), but 1.01 seemd to fix that.

I really hate these, they are so without warning!

The same problem.

I'm working around it by saving with a unique filename every couple of years. When I return to a game I then go back through the saves until I get one that works.

The savegames get increasingly large as time goes by, I'm hoping that doesn't mean that long games are currently impossible.

1.01 all the way through, and I have experienced the same effects.

Also, Denmark seems a lot more prone to CTDs than when I played Toulouse and Brittany.

It had happen sometimes to me that by reloading directly a save from the game, it CTD, while if I quit CK, relaunch it and load the save, it may work.

It's a rare occurence anyway and difficult to reproduce.

If your game is CTD at load all the time, send it to the Paradoxian.

Thanks,

Cat

There is a known bug with the dynasty of Denmark.

Denmark shouldn't be played IMHO until this bug is fixed, or you tweak the scenario file to fix it yourself. Try to dig out the post of Mork where he explain how to fix it. EDIT: Here.

loaded up autosave, play awhile, then overwrite other old save manually, then CTD after 15 days of playing even loading those non-auto save file.

You can play as Denmark. Just chose to play one of the counts. I started out playing Skjalm Hvide count of Sjælland. he became king and three generations later they still are. That dynasty works fine :)

I have a tool that is very usual for situations like this - that is to manage save files. It's attached.

Briefly, it renames (and moves if you want) autosave files as they occur. The name is from the game date. Alas, the country being played is not part of the name, but there are other alternatives. The full feature list is in the readme.

Btw, I wrote this back when I was modding EU1, and have updated it for all the beta tests. It supports all Paradox games (based on the EU engine, that is).

Edit: the trick when you do your own saves is to use "autosave" as the name...

Similar problem here - reloading either autosave or old autosave results in a CTD. I was playing as the King of England in the 1066 scenario (version 1.01) and had just been made papal controller for the second time (possibly a bug as both times it was related to Odo becoming pope I think, but the first time Anselem carried on). Becoming papal controller for the second time removed the papal controller icon (and menu options) but I was still listed as controller on Odo's screen.

I have the autosave from this, but I'm not sure what the best way to submit it is?

Sorry, I don't have the email capacity to accept a save file. Perhaps one of the mods, or beta testers that frequent this forum do.

Personally, I strongly suspect problems with Papal succession as being the source of CtD's.

I have similar problems in three seperate games as Norway. Things go fine till I pass 1100, but then I get a CTD, and I'm unable to load/reload recent savegames. If I go back a bit, I'm able to load, but still get CTD after a short while.

I've never got past 1130 in a game. Either I get A. lots of random CTD's shortly after loading the save, or B. the save game crashes during the initializing script phase. I'll never get to use the EU2 converter, clearly.

CTD = Crash to Desktop

I have the same problem, also when the loader starts with 'Initializing Script'.

EDIT:

Ok, I tested a few savegames, and it seems every savegame with the current ruler doesn't load, while a save with the previous ruler (the 1st one) works...

Oh, and I'm using 1.01.

Well I'm still playing 1.00 and had the game crash every time (tried it four times) my current ruler die of old age. I went back to autosaves and it would continue fine until he died, each time a separate date. The box saying "blah blah has died" and just as I'd seen it *crash!*.

I thought this game was supposed to be MORE stable than other paradox games!

I have the same problem here. And it's getting very frustrating.

Played almost all saturday as the Duke of Apulia got a CTD, reloaded another CTD. Reloaded the oldautosave a CTD

Yesterday played as the duke of Mazovia, no ctd at all when playing. Saved it. Try to reload it today then a CTD when he is initializing script.

It's such a fun game, but not being able to continue with your dynasty does not raise the funfactor.

If you don't like the crashes why do you play 1.00? At least to me 1.01 seems significantly more stable.

You probably didn't have an heir of your dynasty. Known problem with 1.00. 1.01 is supposed to correct this, but you won't be able to use your 1.00 savegames with it.

I have a savegame that CTDs as soon as you close the hints. I PMed MrT and he sent me his email to send him the savegame. He'll look it over and if it isn't something he can fix, he'll send it on to Johan, who is on vacation this week.

I just tried to load a game of Denmark in 1174.

The game crashes when it says "initializing script" in the end of the load scenario process.

I have had no strange occurences. I'll try and see if an autosave works out!

EDIT: oh by the way, I use 1.01 and have done it all the time.

EDIT2: NONE of my autosaves work! I cannot load a game in this century?
I really really like this game, but how fun is it if you can't reload a saved game  .

This should get fixed SOON!!

EDIT3: The game does it everytime. I'd like to help, couldn't someone send me an email or something? The game has a size of 25mb, o it might be difficult to send over email? Any suggestions?

the same problem for me here, :(

somehere past 1100 there's a date where I got massive CTD's - after playing very long I was able to keep on playing, but perhaps there's something logged in the save file that's conflicting,

case = Brugge

savegame on 10 june 1127 - ok,
savegame on 18 nov 1130 - CTD,
savegames after 18 nov 1130 - CTD,
:)
