CTD's:

Well got my first CTD with 1.01. Will see if it's a consistent one or not. WIll know soon. I've had consistent CTD's with 1.0 (meaning it owuld always happen at a certain point), but 1.01 seemd to fix that.

I really hate these, they are so without warning!

My current game got corrupted as well. Playing Novgorod under 1.01 from the start. My newest savegame and both autosaves produce a repeatable CTD. Might have something to do with inheritance, my first ruler recently died and none of the savegames of the same game load when his successor is in power.

I have the file on my comp, is there an e-mail address I could send it for analyzing?

EDIT3: The game does it everytime. I'd like to help, couldn't someone send me an email or something? The game has a size of 25mb, o it might be difficult to send over email? Any suggestions?

Zip it up, the savegame I sent MrT went from about 12.5M to 1.25M when I compressed it with WinZip. PM MrT, he'll either give you his email or, if he's inundated, I'm sure he'll give you directions to get it to Paradox.

I`ve got exactly the same problem. But not only while playing Novgorod. Also a game as king of norway went corrupt during playtime. Somehow I´ve got the feeling, that these CTDs have something to do with siege. Often while I´m besieging a province the game crashes and the autosave files produce the same bug.

Sometimes I can avoid such CTDs by stopping sieges. But it is very unsatisfieing to change your expansion-plans because of an unavoidable CTD.

There are two probable causes for the loading problems in my experience. The first has to do with events. Autosaves are unloadable close to 100% of the time if your speed is high enough that an event occurs while the autosave is happening. The general savegame problems seem to be strongly linked to situations where all of the counties owned by a duke/king are taken, but that ruler still exists, county-less (on losing their last county, instead of immediately taking control of a vassal's county, they just sort of exist in limbo for a while until they either disappear or finally get some land).

Ok jsut checked, and i crashed to desktop again and again and again, and im only 28 years ingame, and in a Crusade against the Pagens because the Deus vult came into effect, and im at war with Prussia and sieing and from thier on in it just gose to desk top, i didnt have the timer running in the game ust had it on pause looked at the are when I scolled over and puff it went to Desk top :( this is the first time ive had this problem, and why today, I know my computer went funny but my games are ok, every thing runs fine and my machine is way over the specifications lol.

hmmm hope this gets fixed soon.

Does that mean you were able to stop CTDs by toggling your game-speed? That would be very interesting...and what about the resulting corrupt autosaves that crash after some days? Are those crashes avoidable that way, too?

Well, I was able to lower my problems with corrupt autosaves by a large amount by not leaving the speed set to anything higher than "normal" for large amounts of time...and just to be sure, by also manually saving anytime an event happened on the first of the month that the autosave happened. But autosaves are unfortunately still subject to whatever else is causing saves to be corrupted too, setting me back about 8 years (or more, I'm afraid to check) on my current campaign.

I've never got past 1130 in a game. Either I get A. lots of random CTD's shortly after loading the save, or B. the save game crashes during the initializing script phase. I'll never get to use the EU2 converter, clearly.

Exactly...all saved games crash during the initializing script phase...Haven´t had one game lasting longer than 25 years...at least not a saved game.. :(

Basically the same thing just happened to me.Except no dead guys... yet.Oh and when I loaded the old autosave, it all worked fine and dandy.

Same here, saving monthly worked out great.

I have the same problem. all savegames from my current game crash. can it be that it has something to do with the age of the leader ? my duke is only 7 but in the savegamescreen is a picture of an leader and not the "infantpicture"

This is so frustrating.
Played 4 games: Antioch, Bradenburg, Apuila, and Georgia.
All don't last longer than 75 years. All save changed to "less than instant 1 min CTD mode".

This is mad...hope can be fixed ASAP. :eek:o

Let me just second (third? fifteenth?) the sentiment here.

Playing my first ever game. Duke of Gwynedd-->King of Wales, not long past 1100. Saved game just to try out some of the buttons I hadn't had a chance to push yet (revoking titles and the like) just for fun. Went back to reload and all CTD. The created file and BOTH autosaves fail every time.

Frustrating is an understatement. If this is common, the game is unplayable as I don't have 200 hours in a row to keep playing without saving.

Which of course assumes no OTHER CTD issues. :(

EF1, I am very sorry about your experience (and everyone else, too). I have also had a real drag playing my current game, and have had to go to prior saves and replay long periods to avoid a terminal CtD a few times. I have not expiernced a CtD loading a save file as has been expressed in this thread, though.

No matter...

But, I have a lot of options in trying to get around problems by using my Autosave tool - the download is in the first page of this thread. I strongly recommend that anyone that has repeated problems use my tool - it gives you a better chance at recovering from a problem than relying on the autosave and oldautosave.

I know, this is no fix, but it is better than nothing. Btw, I have great confidence that Paradox will fix this problem - they have a long history of ruthlessly tracking down these kind of errors.

I have a good game going as France, I am now in the 1120's, and I am having to resort to savegame editing to keep it going. I have found some amusing problems in the save files, and I am wondering whether it might be due to the fact that the game does not stop while saving.
Autosaving now takes about 5 to 10 seconds, and as I play at extremely fast, by the time it's done, my game jumps about 15 days into the future. I am wondering whether events happening during these 15 days might case trouble.

One of the bugs I found in the savegames : a province without a ruler, but which is noted as conquered by another. As far as I have been able to reconstruct the chain of events, the ruler died, another inherited, and the saving occured at about that time.

I'm sorry to say it, but the problem doesn't only occur with autosaves, but with manually saved games, too (at least for me), so your tool probably won't help me. But I agree with you that it will be fixed, I only hope that it will be soon...
