CTD's:

Well got my first CTD with 1.01. Will see if it's a consistent one or not. WIll know soon. I've had consistent CTD's with 1.0 (meaning it owuld always happen at a certain point), but 1.01 seemd to fix that.

I really hate these, they are so without warning!

I can confirm items 1,2,4 and 6. I fooled around with a few counts and saved and reloaded last night without issue (didnt progress the game more then 50 years though). I didnt have any issues with reloading.

Yep. It seems that saving while not pausing the game first is the constant factor in my saves that are corrupted.

I've been doing that and it helped, but some of my new saved games as Count of Angus (2nd Succession) are now corrupt.

On a similar but not quite the same as loading a saved game. I try to start the game as King of Scotland or Sweden and the game constantly CTD's on me. Tried setting starting time frame to Below normal, as that normally seemed to help, but doesn't correct this issue. Also a another possible bug, on the King list it has Nubia... they have the circular shield of a Muslim king, thought they weren't supposed to be playable?

Game crashes at specific date

I need some help badly... I am playing a game as england the year is 1086 ( i think ) I saved my game on january the 2nd .. but the game crashed at january the 8th every single time. I have tried going in as scotland untill I pass this date but it still crashes to desktop... I don't know if it's related or not but aswell as this my game crashes 70% of the time when I try to load it anyway..
I hope I don't have to start again, I was enjoying that game immensely My only other save game goes back about 15 years so that's not an option either.

I fear that the saves may not be recoverable, but that remains to be seen. Most importantly we need the main fix so it doesn't happen again

I have not yet been successful is restarting from the autosave files. The game always CTD's from the loading screen. But I have never had any trouble reloading from a file that I manually save.

I wonder if that is because I always pause before manually saving.

The problem is that I am autosaving because of the numerous CTD I am getting. It is a real drag to get a CTD but not be able to reload from the autosave file.

I too am suffering from the load bug. Its just occurred to me to say, it seems to always be the case that the first time I try to load a save (and the first time it CTDs...) my computer starts to connect to the internet. Every time after, however, it doesn't appear to try and make me do so, though that could be because the "connect automatically" box gets unchecked when you cancel mind-connection.

I too am experiencing multiple consecutive CTDs. I have played as far as 1127, then I got a new idea and trashed all my previous games and started over as England. So, I'm playing England and doing great with vassals and blah blah blah.... i save the game, go out for dinner and return to load the save in march 1084 (much sooner than all previous plays) and it refuses to load. i try again...and again...and again...and again, this time with the save of 1082 (mind you, these are all manual saves, not auto saves). No frigg'n luck....each CTD shows a very brief glimpse of some "DemoShield" logo and then nada.

This might be of help for some of you as it worked for me. On your saved games turn off autosave. This has allowed me to recover several of my games that I kept crashing on loading.


So more specifially options I suggest are Speed=Below Normal and Autosave=Never I hope this works for some of you until the patch is available.

I too have random CTDs every once in a while. I'm playing with 1.01 and my ruler is not old and he has heirs. Plus my autosave crashes during load up.

As with all Paradox patches: it's done when it's done.

But you said that you wanted to fix this before the patch and as soon as possible. This IS a serious bug, as it prevents people from having a working savegame, that can be loaded without CTD. Couldn't you just fix this single problem, and then send out the patch?

Grosshause if you look at the seriusness of this post and whats going on youd see it dosnt require a patch, though I am probably guesing they want to release 1.2 earler then expected because of this extreamly bad bug, hance only bug fixes and CTD fixes etc and nothing more, but right now i only want a rough time on its fixing even if it is a patch because this problem is serius, I cant play the game any more let along other people having the same problem

I know exctly Paradoxes answer or most poeples when it comes to patches I am one of them that some tiems types it ready when its ready, but this is much more serius and urgant.

Release the Urgant part first if posible unless its coded in some way and put it into the patch as well with the danish fix etc togather for future, so you dont have to download 3 things, or hunt for 2 lol

I too have had consistent CTDs. I have gotten so frustrated that I put the game away, deeply annoyed at the inability to recover and saved games. Still I am desperate to play this game and enjoy the hell out of it. I will try tonight to PAUSE my game before every manual save and see if that works. If that fails I'll have to spend my full "gaming time" with OOTP6 and wait til 1.03 or so before getting back to CK.

Anyhow if, as suggested, my pausing while saving helps I'll report back and maybe that'll help aleviate the save problem until a proper fix can be applied.

Going to post a work around again since people keep complaining about the saved games:

1) From the start up screen where you can select a saved file or scenario choose your file that is CTD'ing upon loading.

2) Select OPTIONS

3) Change AUTOSAVE to NEVER

4) ACCEPT changes

5) START game

The speed doesn't matter, I've done this with below normal up to fast speeds.

Empty History.txt

I´ve played King of Sweden for two generations and now none of my saved games will load (Crash when loading script). One thing I saw when browsing around the Paradox folder was that the history.txt file was completly empty! Prior, im 95% sure, it was filled with a lot of events that had happend during my time in power. I don´t know if this is the reason for the loading crash but it might be the case. Has anyone else experienced this?
