Anyone know how I can change the nations colors? Playing Japan and fightning India was less than ideal coloring wise.

Also while we're at it, this mod is immense, absolutely amazing but I really want to play a historical struggling axis. How do I make it more challenging, especially Japan? Just turn up the difficulty? But I also want Germany to lose!

Maybe adjust it so Germany invades Norway and Denmark on the historical dates instead of late 1939, just for immersion. If it's not changed for balance purposes.

And I just saw the Italian blitz for Egypt that Jenna talked about in the other all in one thread. Egypt insta falls, seemed like there where few or no defenders. Not ideal.

I wonder what the big differences between this one and blood & Iron is, because in that mod Soviet is hella hard, also Africa is a nightmare. I thought they where based on the same "framework mod".

Are these events correct for the italian battleship upgrades? I had nothing better to do right now.

The first 2:

event = {
id = xxxxx
random = no
country = ITA

name = "Conte di Cavour class reconstruction begins"
desc = "It is time to upgrade our battleships to modern standards."
style = 2
picture = "newspaper"

date = { day = 1 month = october year = 1933 }

action = {
name = "Begin reconstruction."
command = { type = remove_division which = "RN Conte di Cavour" value = ITA }
command = { type = remove_division which = "RN Giulio Cesare" value = ITA }1
command = { type = supplies value = -500 }
command = { type = metalpool value = -500 }
}
}

event = {
id = xxxxx
random = no
country = ITA

trigger = {
event = xxxx
}

name = "Conte di Cavour class reconstruction finished."
desc = "Conte di Cavour and Guilio Cesare are back in action!"
style = 2
picture = "newspaper"

date = { day = 1 month = august year = 1937 }

action = {
name = "Great!"
command = { type = add_division which = "RN Conte di Cavour" value = 21 where = 6 }
command = { type = add_division which = "RN Giulio Cesare" value = 21 where = 6 }
command = { type = dissent value = -0.5 }
}
}

Cavour was finished in june and the other in october but if you only want 1 event just make it august as a middle ground.
In order to spawn them in certain provinces the activate command must be used but thats for dormant divisions and i dont know much about that.

The other 2:

event = {
id = xxxxx
random = no
country = ITA

name = "Andrea Doria class reconstruction begins"
desc = "It is time to upgrade our battleships to modern standards."
style = 2
picture = "newspaper"

date = { day = 30 month = march year = 1937 }

action = {
name = "Begin reconstruction."
command = { type = remove_division which = "RN Andrea Doria" value = ITA }
command = { type = remove_division which = "RN Caio Duilio" value = ITA }1
command = { type = supplies value = -500 }
command = { type = metalpool value = -500 }
}
}

event = {
id = xxxxx
random = no
country = ITA

trigger = {
event = xxxx
}

name = "Andrea Doria class reconstruction finished."
desc = "Andrea Doria and Duilio are back in action!"
style = 2
picture = "newspaper"

date = { day = 30 month = august year = 1940 }

action = {
name = "Great!"
command = { type = add_division which = "RN Andrea Doria" value = 21 where = 6 }
command = { type = add_division which = "RN Caio Duilio" value = 21 where = 6 }
command = { type = dissent value = -0.5 }
}
}

Andrea Doria was finished in october and duilio in july so end of august both are finished.

I played the mod as Communist China and enjoyed it a lot, but felt the following issues.

1. As others said, in the Barbarossa, the Axis was strongly favored. In 1942, the Soviets sued for peace, which needs a bit buff the Soviets (or nerf the Axis). For example, adding forts along the Stalin line provinces would make a more realistic outcome.

2. ComChina terribly needs the resources. In 1937 all the resources were almost zero (or just became zero) and the IC was down to 3, which even made recovering the armies impossible.

3. In the later year (I forget the precise year) the canceling of the Olympic event happened weekly and eternally in all nations, which is clearly a bug and should make only once.

4. The US and other allied nations desperately need the Normandy-like landing to help the soviets (even so soon as 1942), which the AIs failed miserably, but it is a common AI issue to the other DH mods (except few mods which have excellent landing AIs) and vanilla too, so I don't expect that much.

5. In Palestine, the nation color of the tiny provinces such as Haifa, Gaza, and Tel-Aviv are all slightly wrongly placed. I put the picture here (click on it twice to enlarge it).

EDIT: I realized that I played the mod as Normal/Normal difficulty/aggressiveness instead of the original Very Hard/Furious ones. Did it affect these outcomes?

Hi, thank you for your hard work. It is appreciated.

I was enjoying your mod and everything seemed to be going well, no obvious bugs or anything when in 1939 (playing with the uk) I suddenly got the following message: "reduction of the defense budget", leaving me with only thirty divisions.

It's been a long time since I played Darkest Hour (or any mod), so I may be missing something obvious, but I can't figure out the reason for this event. Money enough in the bank, and I've actually barely built anything until now (outside of IC). Any help?

Thanks in advance!

These events occur in TGC all the time during the interwar years. and I have a love/hate relationship with them. The intent is to prevent the player, in this case UK, anticipating WW2 and building an enormous army prior to war. It will probably be lifted after Czech is fully absorbed. I haven't played AIO in a long time and don't recall these events in that mod, but I wonder if this event is what's causing Italy to steamroll through North Africa as others have reported.

Thanks for the reply!

The strange thing is: Czechoslovakia has already been fully annexed, just like Austria. The date is May 1939, and I've already received several "Gearing up for war" events, so I don't think it makes sense for "the government" to roughly halve the number of available divisions, just before war breaks out..

I can't remember ever seeing such an event, but that could also be my memory.

Ah, that sucks. I'd see if you can find the even in the ENG file and delete it or put a # in front of it (assuming it's for England only). Have you played as any other nation?

Post #38 and the very first positive feedback. Thank you, keep enjoying it, Cold war gets interesting.
Thank you. I'll take your advice and play through the cold war then(I was wondering what to play next). Operational level games get unrealistic in massive scens with all the micromanagement, and can only be played as turn-based. But the depth of complexity(or should I say realism) of this game is actually just as great, if not greater, even at the global scale. This game allows me to envision each territory as it's own little operational level map. It takes into account the perspective of the C-in-C and doesn't bog down in having to do the componential technical design, nor require one to do the foreign or armaments minister's work more than the direction a leader would give. You can still micromanage battles to some degree. though it is setup to not require it.

Usually UK builds up at least 100 divisions before the war. British Raj as well. It really effects Japan and Italy in their early conquests. So, after a lot of research of the standing army of UK and Indian Empire, I added an event to reduce their numbers to historical levels at the outbreak of WW2. UK had 30 divisions, and India around 12, and that is to what they are reduced, in order to make it more realistic. But their AI will build up really fast. That event happens in may, so a few months before WW2.

Are there surrender events vor UK in this mod if there is a succesfull german invasion?

I´m asking because in redwolfs modification the UK surrender events seem to be deactivated while he is working on them and I didn´t find them in this mods db folder either....

Thanks for the explanation and I understand why you added it, but I found the event quite annoying to be honest, so after a tip from Pasha, I deleted it in the UK file in the database.

Another question. It's now May 1940 in my game and I still can't built any full tank divisions (light or medium), only as a brigade (attachment).
My research is up to speed and in the unmodified game I was able to build them already, but apparently I can't find the right tech to access them in your mod. Any help?
Thanks!

You probably know this already, but want to start with the easiest response: Did you research the two required techs? One is in the armor/axillary tech (medium tank division or something like that) and the other is in the land doctrines that actually allows you to build armored divisions. It's all by itself and requires one of the other 1940 land doctrines to be researched first (if you're not Germany or SU).

Well, it's obviously been a long time since I've played HOI/DH, that's for sure. The required armor/auxiliary tech has been researched, but what is the required land doctrine?

Note, defensive focus was already researched at the start of the game and switching to another doctrine is not possible.

Looks you need to research preplanned defense and central planning (whichever one is the 1940 tech will unlock armored division formation which is by itself near the top. If you hover over armoured division formation the tool tip will tell you which tech in the land doctrine tree you need to research. Once armoured division formation is researched then you can build armored divisions since you've presumably researched the Medium Tank tech.

@RealityGuy If you can, tell me who chose this image for the Tibetan plateau, because it reminds me of artwork of Roerich. https://www.roerich.org/ It looks like one of his paintings.

I get occasional graphical glitches, specifically when hovering over eventbox choices and the text of the choices will rapidly change between the actual text and gibberish, yet so far I have no issues choosing how to conclude those events. I also savescum a lot in the early singleplayer years to get tech bonuses, and the loading screen will flicker on top of the loaded savegame and lead to a crash if I start playing while the flicking is occurring. I would certainly assume that constant savescumming is a bad idea, like in CKII, and restarting the game gets rid of the flickering.

Its a random painting from the Himalayas, I used some zone landscapes for Mengkukuo and Tibet

Hello there,

I would like to re-ask my question from tuesday:

Are there any surrender-events for Great Britain in case of a german invasion included in this mod at the moment?

In redwolfs last patches those seem to be disabled because he is still working on them, as I understood his posts...

...what about the GOLD edition?

Thank you for any answers!
