Ok, I have a serious question.

How are you guys seeing the economical crisis that is on Europe's doorstep. How is Paradox preparing for this?

We weren't hit that bad by the US crisis 2008-2009, the only thing we wish for is a stronger USD and EUR. We pay salaries, rent, and some development teams in SEK (Swedish Krona) and all revenue is in USD and EUR.

We are not that big in any of the crisis markets (Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Ireland) so my feeling is we'll do just fine. We also have an excellent relationship with the bank, and that always helps :)

Hi,

We're doing a little upgraded version of Ask Paradox Anything tomorrow - we're doing a video response directly from Fred and myself.

So ask your questions here on in the comments section in the Facebook post I'm about to do and we'll try to answer as many as possible.

Europa is the old EUII era engine, all the new stuff is on the Clausewitz engine. You can really answered your own question though; Rome, Sengoku, and CK2 all have a more 3d look and rotatable camera.

Does Paradox playtest patches and expansions? Because it doesnt looks like it - many people (myself included) reported that in "HoI3 For the Motherland" CVs and BBs are now almost impossible to sink - I run 10 hands off games (using 3.04 patch) (as Cuba) which I let run untill 1945 and I NEVER saw more than 10 capital ships as sunk.

Yes we do.

The main problem with bugtesting this kind of things is that all players plays the games differently. All bugs does not show in every playthrough...

Thank You

Will Paradox be using the new engine for any future expansions for HOI to give it a more 3D look?

HOI3 is on the same engine (Clausewitz) as EU3, Rome, Sengoku, CK2, Victoria 2. So there's no "new engine" to use, doesn't mean they are exactly the same graphics wise, obviously.

You could of course update it to "will Paradox be importing more 3D features to HOI3"

In which case I'll speculate that if they had wanted to, they would've done so during FTM development. One reason might be that HOI3 is a whole world map (as opposed to Rome, Sengoku, CK2 which have limited maps) which might conflict with the way they set up the map.

When someone posts a bug in the given game forum does it help to post "fixes" also in the same thread? Or do the developers not want that since any "fix" posted would be the forumites opinion of the said issue?

If you know that something is fixed, then please write it in the same thread. This does not mean that I won't test it anyway but your opinion might help me a lot.

Would you guys ever consider dressing up in period costume for a Crusader Kings 2 trailer? There are some fun possibilities there. The last couple of Magicka trailers were a bit hoot on youtube. . . .

All the CK2 team are required to wear full chainmail armour at all times during work hours. Design disagreements are settled by trial by combat. Johan has a massive battleaxe by his desk, once a week he'll grab it and swing it wildly at Doomdark while shouting that he needs to "Axe about the status of CK".

So it's not really any different than normal.

Should I be more surprised that

(a) there are people who own a chainmail tie

or

(b) that paradox developers wear ties at work?

For a period of time we had a fancy-friday tradition. Some of us dressed up for the fun of it... But the tradition died out after a couple of months. Perhaps we should revive it.
