You forget the modifier for being a Light mech which is 3... does that 3 mean -30 or -15?
D'oh, always forgetting something. Thanks for reminding me!

7 pips would be 14 difficulty. Light mech is another 3 difficulty. 17 difficulty is -67.5% accuracy. The decrease drops after 10 difficulty. I think it is -2.5% per point over 10 (could be -2%).

Add in long range and an obstructed shot for another 6 difficulty, -82.5%.

I stand corrected. Thank you @Jade_Rook.

NO!
If I can't listen to Glitch or get Dekker killed... NOT BATTLETECH! ;)

As someone mentioned in our scrum this morning, in Career mode, simply because you cannot start with Glitch, Dekker, and Behemoth, does not mean they won't be there. They will in fact be Ronin, you can find them in the wilds of the Career mode. Hire them before they move on to greener pastures.

LOL... thank you.
JOKING: Ask Kiva to add 2 new items to Career Mode :)
+ Had Glitch (scaled to length)
+ Got Dekker Killed (scaled to size of Mech)
:D

add 3 more for the Gyro... -90% to hit for the first shot... Give it a Large Laser and up the armor.
:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Can't stop myself for doing this bad thing...

Line-of-sight works both ways*, so unless you're fielding only LRM boats, you're going to have to get into LoS sooner or later.

*Murphy's Laws of Combat #32: "Tracers work both ways"
In theory and for the 99.9% of cases yes, but I believe this also depends on facing. In a random mission, without being sensor locked, I was under LRM fire although I didn't have LoS to any enemy Mech or vehicle. But they, obviously, were seing me. Due to the 'Mech receiving the fire, its location (near the edge of a mountain, close to a vehicle which was sligthly higher than the Mech, and the facing of my Mech (not straight to the vehicle, quite sideways), I developed the theory that, under some fringe cases, one team can have LoS while the other does not, wether it's happening something similar or it was a glitch/bug, I have no idea. But I'm 100% positive about not being sensor locked, I checked the Mech and didn't have the tag.

Well, although I usually also like to acquire as much evasion pips as possible, RNG happens... and my Vindicator almost got shredded after two attacks form afar, first one with 5 or 6 evasion pips, the second one with one less. I know the numbers won't be as high as -82.5%, but still, they hit the poor Vindi with almost everything they shot...

PS: I'm afraid this post looks like I'm an as#o&e that only wants to say the opposite of other people... it's not the case, I just want to point that, sometimes (either strange situation of LoS or due to RNG), things doesn't go as theory/numbers say, which is part of the charm of this game :)

I have experienced similar situations. LOS is asymmetrical in certain edge cases. The conditions are specific enough, however, that I have never been able to reliably recreate or exploit this fact. I suspect, but cannot verify, that it also happens to the AI, although all I can say for certain is that is should have shot at me and chose not to.

I wonder now if the AI suffers this situation more often than I realize, as its behavior often leaves we wondering why it didn't take the shot...

Being in woods reduces your visual range by like 25% or something. So, if the OPFOR is in clear and you are in cover... they can see you and you can't see them.

A limit on the tonnage will only be contracts from Flachpoint? In the rest of the usual contracts the limit is not introduced with patch 1.3?
Sorry if there was already this question or answer.

Some FLASHPOINT missions not all some will have tonnage limits. These limits are both minimum and maximum tonnage. So for instance one may limit a drop to 200 tons another may require 300.
None of these limits are included in basic contracts.

Thank you! I was hoping that it would impose a widespread limit on the tonnage as in Mechcommander.

It should be noted that while HBS will not be changing the way the basic contracts work, since the expansion will allow tonnage limits to exist it might be possible to add them to the basic contracts via a mod.

We won't find out until the new version is released and we can start looking under the hood of the new features.

Could be, good point. I don't remember now if my unit nor the OpFor vehicle were in woods, but it's quite probable.
