Thanks Phil,
and a big thanks to Jkkelley and Steel as well.

I want to get your opinions on this: apart from Phil's current work on some of the new files, should we take a break at editing for TCTmod 0.05 until the final public version of C.O.R.E. 0.6 comes out?

I ask this because I think it would be much easier (and stable) to start the new edition from a stable file set, especially as there is a new candidate release *quite often* right now. Waiting would probably make Steel's job of integration easier as well...

Please let me know what you think is best...

I suppose that's easier in the long run. Let's us know what batch of files we have to work with. I guess I'd like Steel's thoughts.

I'd suggest you focus on actively playing v0.6rc5 now and report any problems with the recent additions (models.csv, unitnames.csv, Italian OOB etc) as outlined in the changelog. Once v0.6 is released then resume this project.

Ok Phil, JK, that's what we'll do, wait until the final 0.6.

I hate being wishy-washy about this, but the mod is changing too quickly for a slow clunky editing process like ours to keep up.

I'm all for things that are "easier in the long run." as Phil says! ;)

Phil, JK,

Sorry for my brief absence, I was caught up with some heavy work stuff....

All righty boys, a firm version of 0.6 is out... shall we begin working on TCTmod0.05 again? Same plan, Phil and I re-write and send them to JK, he correctes typos, and sends them back to me.

I'll update the first post of this thread...

Italy event

First, let me congratulate with all members of C.O.R.E. for the great job done with the mod.

I have a suggestion for an Italy event, that is:

1938 World cup victory

In 1938 Italy won the world cup final against Hungary 4-2 at the Colombes stadium in Paris.
This event should affect fascism alignment of Italy and nearby countries (e.g. Hungary itself, Yugoslavia, even France), and should obviously lower the dissent value (-5?).

Since I'm not good at coding I'm just suggesting you to add this event if you want to.

Cheers!
Shaka

This is a nice flavor event (maybe a -1 dissent). This was the last WC before the wra right?

the next one was scheduled for 1942 (every 4 years you have a WC ;) ).
That title was gained thanks to the manipulations of Mussolini to "recruit" the best players of Argentina and "make" them italian... so they can play for Italy... ;)

Ahhhh...the FC Barcelona/ManU method....too bad we can't include the 34 WC. Be a nice flavor event for Uruguay IIRC.

Uruguay WC was in '30, then in '34 Italy, then the last WC in '38 in France... the next one was in Brazil in '50, 12 years later...
;)
Italy really had good players in 38, for example Silvio Piola, Giuseppe Meazza and Giovanni Ferrari...

So mayby you will also add event for Polish victory over Hungary on 27th august of 1939 (without our English coach who already escaped) :D

I think that -1 dissent is about the only effect that I would have. I could be wrong (and often are), but I don't know how much the victory effected the Italian people's view of fascism or any other form of government. There could also be an event for Hungary about losing the Cup. It might have a dissent hit of +1 because football (soccer) fans tend to get rather violent about their teams winning and losing :D. MDow

ha ha:D
nice idea to add +1 dissent in Hungary as "Magyar Hooligans" protest against the defeat :p

Well, historically the Duce put under a great deal of pressure the soccer players to ensure Italy another victory just after the one in 1934 (played in Italy right in the middle of the "Ventennio" of fascism -ventennio=2 decades-) and the other aspect was that the annexed Austria lost her "Wunderteam" as the german team "annexed" the austrian one :)

Maybe the event could boost italian diplomatic influence as long as lowering the dissent value: I think that a -3 to -5 value should be right since:
1) you know how we love soccer in Italy;)
2) the event should be worth the writing:D

See ya!

Generally speaking, I am not disagreeing with the previous comments. Often -1 dissent is not a BIG deal. For major nations, it's nothing. For Hungary, it is an issue, however.

I can't see a World Cup giving any more than a -2 pt change for Italy and a +1 dissent hit for Hungary. The drunken enthusiasm wears off mightly quickly when life returns to normal after a few days under a difficult government. A temporary high does not equate to a major shift in long-term national 'happiness'. And the sense of despair in Hungary would quickly disappear when you realize there are more important things in life. So slight shifts in national 'happiness' are appropriate, to me, but not much more than that. Actually, come to think of it, I'd rather not see Hungary get hit at all. Any nation would be happy to have made it to the World Cup finals. And if a people goes off the deep end because they lose at the finals, I am thinking they need some annexing. :)

I'd rather not see any DI increase for a football (soccer) championship. The politician/leader who is impressed by another nation on the world stage like that... well, too much vodka.

World Cup is big in sports and in daily life for most countries, but it is difficult to fashion any relative affect in the world of HoI much past what we've discussed.

People doesn't get violent because of a World Cup... they are violent...
Winning a WC for a country with futbol (sorry, i HAVE to spell it like that :D ) tradition is the BEST thing that can happen, Mussolini knew that and made that victory HIS victory, like the "Junta Militar" did in 1978 here in Argentina.
For Hungary it was a great hit to loose that final, but i do not think it was the same case as if italy lost it, if Italy didn't won that cup with all the expectation created around them, they will regret that a lot, specially the players... Mussolini WANTED that cup. ;)
I wasn't in that time in hungary, but i do not think the government used that as a propaganda, so i do not think the hit for loosing it was big, the people was disappointed, nothing more.

Make it +/- 0.25 dissent. I tend to agree that 1 point is a bit high, but a quarter point really is trivial (fixed in a few weeks at most).

I keep forgetting about this fractional point concept. I am so used to thinking in terms of whole points that it gets lost by the wayside. MDow

Does this actually work for dissent? I know that fractional values can be used in other areas, but I wasn't aware that dissent would accept them in a command line.
