lol I know my forum name is not pronouncable lol. I always read it as "Keh-lop-kur". It's literally random letters I picked for a runescape name when I was like 12.

Mongol Hegemony makes sense. I wonder what that means though. The way they mentioned the dominance levels for the Khans it fits perfectly for the Mongol Empire but since I think it'll be added only in AuH I wonder what it'll mean and if it'll fundamentally change that mechanic or just be hegemony in name only.

I still hope they just pick two flows of the yellow river, one north and one south so it can have both major directions represented.

I would assume that you get a mandate as the mongols if you take the reform the khaganate decision and adopt a non-nomadic government type.

You and I are probably the two people who care about the Yellow River the most, LOL. If we really need to draw the Yellow River, perhaps we need to draw three river channels. Because for a relatively long time in the early and middle stages, the Yellow River mainly flowed eastward, with a northward branch, and in a later period, it mainly flowed southward. Maybe we can refer to the Grand Canal during the Sui and Tang Dynasties for the drawing of the southward and northward flows, and take the Wangjing River as the main one for the eastward flow.

Will Tibet and Pagan get their own unique assets as well or will they still be tied to the Altaic style?

Pagan will probably share whatever new assets SEA gets.

I hope Tibet gets its own assets but I also don’t expect it. They’re likely gonna save that for a devoted Tibet/India expansion, IMO.

no specifics yet, but yes. Our 2d and 3d art teams are working to ensure there's proper visual flavor for those regions, including clothing & hairstyles.
God I hope that means Turkic clothes and hair.

Nothing visiually is worse than the mongol looking Turks.

I realize this is a bit far fetched, but would you guys be open to adding a “diplomatic embassy” activity for the AUH DLC? During both the Tang and Song periods China received embassies from as far as Byzantium, and during the Yuan period their diplomatic contacts reached even further than that into Western Europe. I just think it’d be neat to have some way to represent those kinds of interactions so that the western and eastern halves of the map aren’t completely isolated from each other.

I gotta say, I really don't like that answer about the game's difficulty. I think it really mischaracterizes the core issue in a very dismissive way.

The issue is not that I'm too good at the game because I've played it too much. The issue is that the game, seemingly by design, presents no meaningful friction to the player to create any interesting emergent narratives because setbacks never happen, and none of the AI characters feel like they have any sort of agency at all.

This was true from my very first campaign when I barely understood the game, and it has only gotten worse over time. I’m not good at the game - I’ve never even had to get good at it.

I don't think almost anyone is asking for some super hardcore military strategy, we just want to feel engaged with the story of our campaigns. And an engaging story requires something to happen, it requires the protagonists to experience setbacks and challenges that they need to respond to. It is not interesting to see a story where the main character can just succeed at everything they try and nothing happens that is outside their control and there is no conflict.

The issue isn't that I've played the game too much - it's that I don't play the game very much at all because nothing interesting ever happens. And to see such a dismissive answer as "you beat the game, congrats" completely misses the point, and makes me extremely skeptical of the future of this game.

what about the game would not be fun if the game presented more of a challenge? That's the reason he gave to not make it hard. I didn't like the way the question was asked either.

If they do, I really hope they include turquoise in the color palette. My family visited Bukhara (happy to share photos if Paradox ever needs them ) and I have to say, the use of color in Timur's palaces is stunning. Turquoise, in particular, is deeply sacred in Turkic culture. It represents the sky, which is why it was so prominent in both architecture and clothing. It even appeared on the flag of the Göktürks whose name literally means "Sky Turks."
