Some of the planets around the Ancient homeworld Othalla could still have Ancient culture and probably should, they could remain unclaimed. I think the Ancients should have knowledge of most of thier surrounding space. They have been in space for 20,000 years you know
If you recall, The Ancients visited several stone age peoples, and even settled on earth after the decline of their empire....they could indeed be the ones who enlightened the Eri though indirectly. Perhaps the Eri found one of the Ancient probes and learned from it.

From the short chapter I didn't post, between 100,000 BC and 22,000 BC the Ancients went from fire to electricity. Then a further 1,000 years to develop nuclear power. Then they nuked themsleves underground waited 3 thousand years and popped back up again. Anywho, remember Josip, any random neighbouring system to Othalla can be the ancient second planet

A Humanoid race centered around Tanyis and Aquis (two planets from a game I play with a friend). It has a rich history dating back thousands of years. A nation gains its independence in 1124, on November 29, the national holiday. Soon thereafter an Emperor is crowned and a 1000-year old reich is established. They united the planet around 1950 (so they are new with the whole inter-planetary game). Their ships are very elaborate, gold inlays and the such. They have billions of fighting men, most are genetically enhanced eunichs known as Hero Troopers.
After taking the surrounding planets (Aquis being another major planet) they have turned the full attention to what they call "The Grand Empire Galactica." Convinced of their own mastery they have set off to conquer near-by systems.
They are lead by Nicholas XIX deKendall-Bismarck their fortith ruler. Their names are Germanic (by our standards) and they would occupy maybe four real planetary strongholds with several trading posts (maybe "Out Posts" or "Listening Posts") near by.

At the same time this would replace the vacuum of the Federation (along with one or two other nations), I say we should keep a democratic group of smaller nations to be the HRE or UGRIS of the game, they would be near earth and be comprised of several nations all fighting for the leadership and eventual domination of the other members. This would be a good set up for MP because alliances would be built and broken as players try to get at each other.
You know, if we could have a Tau-like race from WH40k about somewhere that would be cool. Readin from my Codex, they went from stone age to warp travel in 2,000 years. A young, advanced race on the eastern rim.

Everyone is so enthusiastic you see. In the morning, I am going to compile all the race ideas into a text document, when you reckon we have enough ill email it off to whoever needs it for the ingame descriptions thingy.
