yeah i, uh, really did not want to actually derail the thread, but what the hell is this my dudesThanks for the AI generated picture @PDX-Trinexx
Seems to me that it's just due to the style they chose for this little pic. They weren't going for hyper-realism.why are the sails like that todd
Councilman Silens calling for silence and focus, only to immediately continue the same argument anyways is based. We had one single DD in two whole months, we metaphorically haven't eaten DD content in four weeks now.
Even if you drop a very small piece of meat (or Tofu), and try your best to tell us repeatedly how small that piece will be and not to hope for too much, what kind of reaction do you realistically expect?
But all is well that ends well, as they say. If the RtP marketing starts soon-ish, the council will be appeased and we will have peace for our time.
yeah, the jury is for sure still out. i dont want to accuse anyone of anything they havent done but its a strange stylistic choice to have them blending together like thatSeems to me that it's just due to the style they chose for this little pic. They weren't going for hyper-realism.
Anyway, a quick google search for a Byzantine Dromon yielded this, probably the template model the artist used:

The pic in question seems fine to me tbh.
Tbf, it was a direct response to Mr. Interactive Paradox, on the topic of expectation management and general excitement regarding the teaser. In doing so I was conforming to the rules, and was technically correct, which is the best kind of correct.Councilman Silens calling for silence and focus, only to immediately continue the same argument anyways is based.
Although to be fair the iconography on that ship is wrong. Especially that modern orthodox flag at the tip lol.Seems to me that it's just due to the style they chose for this little pic. They weren't going for hyper-realism.

If someone wants to make that thread id love to discuss cause there are some questionable choices in an overall very accurate improvement over the existing Byzantine aesthetic.yeah, the jury is for sure still out. i dont want to accuse anyone of anything they havent done but its a strange stylistic choice to have them blending together like that
again though, i do not want to ACTUALLY derail the thread with talk of this nature. im happy to put this one aside for now. if someone wants to make a fresh thread about it, thatd be swell. this is the COUNCIL session. gentlemen, we cant fight in here! this is the war room!
Also it's important to keep in mind that a not inconsiderable portion of the PDX playerbase has been ridiculously paranoid ever since the whole Imperator thing, even though that was years ago at this point. These are the people who basically need to constantly be reminded that the game is being worked on, as they will interpret basically any period of silence as evidence that a game has been or soon will be cancelled/shut-down/de-prioritized.As you say, a brand going silent for too long a time isn't a good thing. There's overhyping something, but there's also underselling a product. It's not just making players happy, it's also about selling your product (Chapter III) to those who haven't bought it yet.
This feels like, perhaps somewhere a long the way it was forgotten that these are dev diaries and not dev marketing opportunities (maybe on both sides, PDX's and the forumites). To me, a diary is a regular report on the work that is being done, not a commercial. I'm on the PDX forum, I'm probably going to be watching the commercial when it comes out, I'm not here for that. Fluff diaries weren't complained about because they were fluffy, in my opinion at least, it was because they weren't presented as what they were: What we were excited about that we worked on this week/two weeks. If you didn't get a lot of work done or you did but it was mostly boring but useful stuff, that is what the diary should be about. So to me, no diary feels like a signal that nothing happened, which I know is not the truth. People are always working on art, fixing bugs, doing historical research. Are you afraid that if people know what you're working on before hand, they won't want to buy it? I'm not sure that strategy worked with Legends of the Dead. Comments like this one just feels like a shift in overall attitude of distrust and animosity toward the community. Which, as a live service game, that feels like a mistake. Like, oh our community sucks we don't even want to share with them what we are working on. Maybe that attitude is making harder to work on things? I don't know, this message just was really depressing to me.We tried to maintain a regular cadence of dev diaries in the past, but "fluff" DDs just made people upset that we weren't posting more meaningful DDs. If there's not a substantial DD to share and a fluff DD just makes people unhappier than they were to begin with, then the only realistic option we have at that point is to not post at all.
I agree with you but we need to be careful about discussing this topic again in this thread. I don't really understand why a moderator would want to encourage multiple threads being posted every week about if there is going to be a DD instead of keeping it contained to this one where even a developer of the game is treating it like the appropriate place to discuss the topic. I would also say that it was useful to have a single containment thread where this discussion could happen (and honestly, was the one place where it felt some devs were trying to address this issue by continuing to interact with the community sentiment in the subject). I will limit further avenues of discussion in this area however only as direct replies to developers and moderators, unless one such person tells me that it's okay to do otherwise (which, I again would argue is that actual, on topic, purpose of the thread, even if you could, decide that it literally is only about asking a binary yes or no question).I agree with you but we need to be careful about discussing this topic again in this thread. i took a look at ck's subreddit and people are seemingly unhappy because they somehow think it's AI generated with absolutely no evidence or proof, just baseless accusations, some people are just never happy i guessFor a teaser of this importance (just a picture) I would'nt even care if it was AI made
too much "drama" for nothing
That's why the announcement is on monday. We get "The Vision" DD the next day more than likely.Reeeally hoping we get a DD after the announcement and not just a trailer with the release date.

me personally i don't think it's AI, the relative perspectives, the shadows, it's all too perfect for it to be AI, there's definitely a human touch to this artwork and I wanna show appreciation to the artist(s) who may have spent hours or days creating this just for it to be trivialized as merely AI generated
The artists you're trying to appreciate themselves have for multiple times admitted to using AI generation to support their work.show appreciation to the artist(s) who may have spent hours or days creating this just for it to be trivialized as merely AI generated
In the name of everyone here, the council thanks you for your efforts. You, comrade, are a true man of the people. Not exactly a DD, but hopefully this is an acceptable appetizer ahead of next week.
does any of the blobs above represent the final artwork? if you do I have a bridge to sell youView attachment 1140438
They do in fact use AI generation in their Art it is well known and that teaser picture is 90% AI and you can tell me otherwise, the other 10% is the "human touch".
