Master of the hunt and horse do, but not stuff like physician and caravan master, which are the two most important positions.
That's why I periodically check my Court Positions Tab. I do this roughly three to four time a Game Year...

Confirming: Yes, there is will be a DD tomorrow. As mentioned in the teaser post we push to social media platforms, we have our Game Director recapping 2024 and giving a very small sneak preview of some things coming next year.

Less scrolling is what excites me the most here. :D

Will we be getting a dev diary tomorrow? Hopefully we're getting another creator pack like last year to fill in the time!
While I love your eagerness here, the realistic expectation is that the devs are just about to come back from their holidays and DD-wise have nothing in store for us yet.

Looking at past years, the first DDs of the new years are typically pretty minor stuff: the poll of the community event packs, art stuff, content creator pack (which we already got before the winter break) etc. And those don't come before the 2nd half of January. It usually takes to February to get to the "meat" of upcoming content, meaning the Chapter reveal (and I'm not even talking about content-DD, just the Chapter reveal).

So yeah, I do applaud your enthusiasm, but given past patterns I'd say that no, there very likely won't be a DD tomorrow. But I'll publicly eat my words if they do surprise us lol

Next week though is another story, and the Council will be back in full force!

I kinda assume we will hear anything for a while, I believe they talked about a free update at the end of this quarter. I think we might see a new chapter announced in the next few weeks, but I don't think that will happen in january.

Last year, Chapter 3 was announced on February 6th.
It doesn't mean we should expect Chapter 4 announcement on the same date this year....but it is safe to assume we won't be getting many news for at least a month from now.

No DD today; Sweden is just now coming off of winter holiday breaks so there's nothing to report for the time being.

As a broader note, if you have any feedback regarding how our dev diaries have been handled for recent releases (format, length, tone, etc etc), then now would be a fantastic time to share your thoughts.

Then let me tell you that I very much love the chunky RoPo format you chose (which had its debut with ToTo). Knowing that earlier DDs are work in progress and subject to change (as opposed to LotD's close-to-release and more finalized DDs) doesn't detract from the value they provide. That, and they allow for direct feedback, i.e. how estates are handled when land is lost.

I know they're a lot of work, and some of them make the forum maintenance guys cry for technical reasons, but there's nothing quite as sitting down late afternoon, getting some snacks, and spending over an hour diving deep into it. It's one of the highlights of the week for me.

On that note, I also want to mention the DD videos specifically. While I really like to read at my own pace, watching the video before or afterwards still provides value. Not to mention the small music teasers they give.

There's also the documentaries, they were good, I watched them more than once, and I'd be very happy to get more of them for the next major DLC. The entire promotional material around RoPo was outstanding, and I think it set a new bar of high quality among all current PDX games. Whoever thought that up and/or approved of it, they deserve praise.

While I'd also like some minor DDs in-between major releases, I can see why you stopped making them. Not ideal (for me), but I can live with it.

So, to sum it up, the mode you found over the last two years works very well for me and I couldn't be much happier about it.

In contrast, HoI4 went the opposite way with GD, where they said absolutely nothing for half a year, only to cram in everything in the few weeks prior to the DLCs release. There was little room for feedback (well, that's the same thing you experienced with LotD) and had the community on edge before that, since the lack of communication made people nervous (there was basically no DD between February and October). If you can, please avoid that situation with CK3. I prefer a bit more of a run-up, a slower pace stretched over a longer time.

Basically what you did with Chapter III and especially with RoPo, keep that approach.

I like the recent format and amount of content. My one suggestion is that the period to have follow up questions and get replies back from the devs can make it feel like I've got to rush to get the dev diary read and get any questions or comments posted, even though it's the middle of my workday. I'd love it if the devs as a rule circled back the next day to pick out some posts to respond to so I'd feel less rushed.

I would prefer the DD to be shorter but more frequent.

Don't get me wrong. It was good the way you handled the road to power DD. But there are times I would have preferred to have shorter but more frequent dev diaries.
To avoid "being in the void" for extended period of time.

It would also be good to have more and longer actual playthrough by the Dev team to showcase the current progress of development.

Just my two cents on the subject.

For me DDs are currently in a sweet spot regarding length and content. The level of detail you provide now allows for more involvement of the community and thus very valuable feedback.

My only suggestion: in each DD you might want to clearly indicate the features which you need/want feedback on, so that people are able to focus their thoughts and comments on those. IIRC you already did that once or twice and was quite helpful.

Also IMO it’s greatly appreciated when you specify at the end of a DD when the following DD is to be released and what it will be about.
