I agree wholeheartedly! Each of these peoples and empires went through many different steps of style of rule. The Jin were very close to establishing itself as a potential new dominant Celestial Dynasty if it had successfully overtaken Southern Song before the Mongols came to the scene.
We have a number of new and old governmental features we can use to try and represent this accurately. But more on this in the next Dev Diary. :)
According to some intelligence, next week's dev should be not only in Japan, but also in Liao, Jin, xia and Goryeo, Dali, Dai Vet.

And if past years draw a pattern, then we'll only get one additional DevDiary in two weeks on the 24th (likely covering Indonesia), before we enter Swedish Summer Season for the entirety of July and maybe also the first August week.

Then I assume the DevDiaries will resume on the 8th of August, and according to Trinexx the Coronations DDs will run concurrently with the AUH DDs then.

Those Europeans taking too much vacation. It seems like they take 104 days of vacation a year.

Back to the mill boy, your boss is calling.

Joking aside, I'm from Ireland where we only get 4 weeks off (and nothing specific for summer). What would be the point? We're inside anyway cos of the rain sure we may as well be working.

For your consideration, a teaser:

Join us tomorrow at 2PM CEST for a deep dive into the Japanese archipelago and Korean peninsula in All Under Heaven! We'll discuss three new unique governments, House Blocs, the rise of the Shōgun, the Yongsun Throne of Goryeo, and more coming to Crusader Kings III in our most detailed expansion yet!

Really looking forward to it! The only hangup I have is very minor - the word 'bloc' evokes 20th century geopolitics to me as a native English speaker. I wonder if League, Coalition, Compact, or the untranslated Dōmei/Rengō would be better? I assume we are avoiding Alliance or Faction to avoid ambiguity with the use of those words elsewhere in the game.

Thank you!

But as the council already looks towards the future, and with the looming threat prospect of the summer break, can we expect a nice documentary or two in July? You know, like we had last year with Kaldellis and Janega?

That would be greatly welcomed and appreciated!

I personally don't know how I feel about Tairas being Ritsuryō, though.
Kiyomori played the existing game as far as seeking court appointments and obtaining civil governorships for the Taira though - it was only after the war that Yoritomo institutionalized new ways for warriors to hold power and get a share of the dues from estates.

Sure, but grasping additional power through the dominance over the imperial court does not mean that Taira’s primary source of power was something other than their military might. Taira were still samurai clan rather than earlier court aristocracy – and 'military strong, inheritable soryo vs. weak, administrative ritsuryo' doesn't fit the Genpei war that well.

Ultimately, were the Taira successful in the war, they would probably be in the same position to institutionize power as Minamoto were.

Edit: also, given that many of the clan members are Soryo, and so: ineligible for Kampaku succession, it could potentially lead to weird results down the line if Kiyomori's successors would win.

A feedback survey was sent out this morning on the Discord about what the community is hoping for in future content, could be a good way to shape some of the future chapters for the game.

Here's the link.

I hope we get all the machnaics mentioned in the survey also I am very very happy with the devs doing this.
Feudalism and religion feel especially bland now, more so religion than anything else. Those two areas should be addressed before getting into trade. Obviously, adding China meant that trade was in the pipeline, it is just a matter of whether we get it soon rather than later.

the devs have confrimed trade is coming next after this chapter ends so if the survey is any indication the next chapters go something like this; trade & repblics next fedual and empire (HRE focued ) rework and then religion and crusader focus
