Hi!

I'm having a slight bit of trouble installing your mod: both the 'installer' version and the zip version crash the game when I try to load the 1936 scenario: it lists an exception error with what looks like a command for England.

I downloaded the game from Gamers Gate, so perhaps there is a version problem (HOI2 DD 1.2 patch is the same thing as the 1.0 game from Gamers Gate I think... in any event installing the 1.2 patch on the downloaded 1.0 game results in much the same problems)

Is there anything that I could do to fix this problem on my end? Or is there another version of DAIM made for the download version of the game?

Honestly, I don't know. I've got no personal experience with the download versions of Paradox' games, so I don't know which versions are available and which version might translate to what in the retail game.

I'd try to make sure which version number I have (what's written in the upper right of the game menu?) and that I use the according version of DAIM (this one for DD 1.2).

Edit: A screenshot of your error message might help to understand what's going on.

The best?

Just wanted to say thank you for the incredible work you have done! Have played all variants of HOI for a looong time but has grown tired of the AI in recent time- Not because it´s bad, but because I don´t like the way it works on the strategic level!
But now that DAIM is discovered it´s back to business as usual, i.e. more HOI then what´s healthy for both me and my friends...
So, thank you, everyone involved for the greatest mod I/we have experienced yet!
Thanks a lot guys!

My version is listed as DOOMSDAY v1.0 (LADS)

As I mentioned above, that can be somewhat decieving. Apparently the 1.0 version that you get when you purchase the game from Gamers Gate is equivalent to DD 1.2. In the 1.2 patch thread, Johan points out that 1.2 patch is for the boxed version only.

I tried installing HSR last month, and their auto-installer, by accident, installed the 1.2 patch and it crashed the game. AFAIK, the changes that were done to the game in 1.2 (boxed version) patch are the same as those already included in the download version.

The specific error that I get is the following:
Code:
--- ERROR: (ai-prefs: Unexpected field) 'min_core_attack_fleets=2' Line=410 file= ai\Eng_1936.ai---

I was loading a 1936 scenario, playing the USSR.

Thank you for your response and any help that you may provide. I've heard nothing but good things about your mod and I would very much like to give it a shot.

Hmm, that's weird. It sounds like your version doesn't "know" the relatively new 'min_core_attack_fleets' command that was introduced with 1.2 if I recall correctly. Apparently your version isn't what DD 1.2 should be.

Did you, by any chance, use the "try the demo and upgrade to the full game" option? Then you need a special patch which can be found here.

No, I didn't play a demo version first: I purchased the entire game when I heard that Vikki: Revolutions would allow a conversion to DD. At the time I didn't even know that DD was the expansion to HOI2, though I was suprised when I found out that the version they were selling included the original game as well as the expansion, all for $20. (In contrast, you needed to own Victoria before purchasing Revolutions)

I will try the demo patch regardless and see if that works.

I didn't try the demo version, but took a shot at installing the v1.2 patch located at paradoxplaza (labelled as being, 'for all versions'). This time, the game worked! (Including your mod!)

I'm still rather confused at the circumstances, seeing as how there are specific patch notes in 1.2 which I knew I had in my old version (things like the added Modern Blitzkrieg and Volksturm doctrine paths)... but who's complaining?

Thanks once again.

One final question, if I may:

In the general forum, it seems that people are complaining that the AI doesn't research or use nukes. (Pretty lame if you ask me, considering that the name of the game is Doomsday, about a WWIII standoff)

Does your mod happen to 'fix' that matter?

Currently not. DAIM was first developed and released for standard HoI 2 and focused on the buildup in the earlier years, so we didn't care much about nukes. Now with DD we didn't change that yet (there were some problems about the AI and nukes before anyway).
But I made some experiences with AI nuke usage recently, so that might be added in a later version. ;)

Just wanted to quickly post and comment that I'm really enjoying my DD + DAIM game. Japan has swept through China (and is hung up in the Philippines and Burma), Italy and VF are being slowly pushed to Tunisia, and the Germans are slugging it out w/ the Soviets (who lasted until '42, which is a first for me). Excellent work!
