Economically, they're under them. So not a vassal, but a type of semi subject. Independent politicially, but economically subservient I guess we can say.

Peace in our time, hopefully for a long time! Elysium is, like Aztecs to China detailed above, independent politically, but economically subservient. This means HRE will be more likely to support us in diplo plays.
Not sure what you mean here, but the immigration is huge in Elysium. Pop growth is right below 1% per year, so pretty good, but the immigration is huge. We will fight to keep open borders.

For the average Elysium citizen I'm sure Georgios is a vast improvement and the golden age of peace and expansion is very much appreciated. Narratively however, he's not a patch on his father is he?

Pronoia, Elysium
March 11th, 1819
The order was given. Elysium would no longer be confined to North America only.
King Georgios Galantinus smiled satisfied.
The American frontier still expanded, but slower now than before. Quickly, the lands were getting filled with immigrants, of which all soon became proper Elysian in culture – if not in religion.
Over half of Elysium’s more than 19 million inhabitants were Elysian now. Almost half of them were peasants.
He nodded to himself.
So much potential for industrialization. But food were needed too.
The number of cultures in the country were staggering to say the least, but Elysium was a huge melting pot and all would ultimately become Elysian. What was Elysian was perhaps changing though. Of 19.3 million people, only 2.31 million were Hellenic believers and most of those were living in the east, where Elysium had begun.
He had been urged by some of his advisors to convert himself and the state to Orthodox Christianity, the religions his forefathers in Basileia Romaion, as a majority of his subjects now were Christians of differing denominations.
But no. That was not the way of Galantinus. He might not be the zealot of his father and grandfather, but he was faithful to the gods.
Now, education and expansion – peaceful expansion. That was the Galantinus way. A major enlargement of the education system and the universities were ordered by him only a week ago.
And Africa was ripe for the picking. Malaria was a problem, true. But Elysium had the resources and the time to expand slowly. The first colonies were already established.
It was a good time to be Elysian.

They are actually colonizing, if very slowly. But then again we're pretty early for widespread colonization yet.

Despite all this prosperity, Elysium' poor don't seem to be benefiting. Who is gaining the most from all this wealth?

Malaria means it goes sloooooow until a certain tech (actually two, one bettering the other).
It could have been worse, if you look at some of the competition. But a main problem here is I still have a LOT of peasants, who earn very little and live on substinance farms.

I'm sure if you were in one of the Tribes of North America it has all been quite interesting (and murderously violent), but that aside Georgios remains a bit dull. Exciting things may well be coming soon, but they certainly haven't arrived yet.
I do admire the bloody mindness of the 14 Nguni people, they could have joined either of the two much larger existing Bantu groups. But instead they are insisting on being counted separately.
